Do you feel the Fractured Glory skin embodies 10 years of adventures?

To be fair, they've given us a lot of goodies lately: a house, a mount, pets, crates, seals of endeavours, etc., so I don't mind that the reward is a skin per se, only that the skin is not thematically appropriate to commemorating such a milestone. Though I'm not sure what kind of design would be appropriate for the anniversary (since we already have a Coldharbour skin, which ties to the plane meld that started the adventures), perhaps one that featured a prominent Ouroboros design on the front and back? Anyway, I'm grateful that ZOS has been generous with the rewards, and I hope they have something even more special in store that truly reflects the main protagonist and all they accomplished in Tamriel these past 10 years.

I like the idea of it, but I feel it should be a costume instead of a skin. It doesn't feel like I went through a grand adventure across Nirn and Oblivion. Rather I feel like I just went through whatever Gold Road is. Basically it feels like a Gold Road reward rather than a "Hero of Tamriel" reward.

I think you’re onto something with the idea of a personality, as it could alter several emotes to knod at pivotal moments from each of the stories we’ve experienced.

I don't think the skin is intended to "embody" 10 years of adventuring in TESO; it's just a reward for earning an achievement. They could have made the reward anything-- a title, an emote, a non-combat pet, etc.-- and no matter what they decided on, two things would be certain: (1) it could never "embody" something as intangible and diverse as 10 years of adventuring, and (2) some players would be happy with it while other players would not be. Although I personally don't use skins on my main characters, a lot of players do enjoy using skins, and as skins go this particular skin is kind of cool.

    (1) There are a few things that could almost embody 10 years of adventuring - though of course not everyone has been adventuring for 10 years, so...

    (2) some people would complain.

The nearest I can think of are the anniversary cakes. I have a complete collection of original cakes, and while they don't go all the way back to year one I also have the first year senche mount and the beta monkey, so there's some kind of continuity over ten years.

But even something as simple as anniversary cakes caused complaints - people who had been playing but missed out on the cake, people who joined later and wanted their own cake... so now you can buy cake with tokens and the symbolism has been lost.

This skin embodies nothing about ten years of adventuring, and I suppose that isn't even intended because it is just a new achievement that happened to be introduced in the tenth year.

Personally, I still hold out hope for a 10 year medal - for players who have played continuously from the start. A simple, plain, dull grey metal medal of absolutely no value in itself apart of the significance of what it means... I'm a ten year veteran.

They could have done a lot better and more for a 10 year anniversary, especially for those of us that have been here for the entire 10 years. They didn't even throw a bone to the players who have subbed the entire decade.

Skins that completely override my characters appearance and hide everything unique about them are not for me. I definitely can't understand the thought process behind this skin being the reward for questing achievements either. I even saw people mention how this is basically what some Japanese pottery or something looks like when repaired. So unless the idea was to make me think about how broken the game was/is and the fact that my character stuck through it all and made it work anyway.... well, I guess it does that.

Not quite sure why you got snipped, but the reason why there haven’t been as many people voting as one would assume (and I’m assuming you weren’t talking about the “Either” voters), is that the views are not indicative of the amount of different people visiting the thread.

There’s a good chance that there are quite a few of us checking back here for an official response about whether or not there’s consideration to expand the reward further than just a skin.

When @ZOS_Volpe took the trash out it attached the “Dev comment” logo to the thread.

It's a skin, how much can they really do with it?

They could instead make a skin that's a full body tattoo with images of every zone?
But that would look worse imo...

Or a glowing image of the ESO ouroboros in the center of the chest.
But might not be able to see it well enough to make wearing it worthwhile.

I think it's one of those "the journey is it's own reward" kind of things.
The skin looks just ok to me, but I'm in no rush to grind it out. If others love it that's cool and I hope they get it.

I may get it one day too.
    Or not.

The game will still be fun either way.

Putting my frustration with the unnecessarily hefty requirements aside...

I'm kinda in the middle. I don't mind it but I also do feel like it's quite a low-effort reward for having such a high requirement, especially since it's meant to be a celebration of ten years of questing. I doubt I'd ever make use of it myself but it'd be nice to have as a token of prestige.

To put the ease of which skins have become available into perspective, here is one of the most recent skins to be unlockable in-game.

    Look at it’s requirement.

    idvs4bkm0pre.jpeg
Complete a dungeon on Veteran, one time.

That takes less than 30 minutes for an average group, and I forgot to mention… the amount of artistic effort that went into designing the Daedric symbols and placing them correctly I would imagine to be much greater than whatever it is that is Fractured Glory.

It's a nice gesture and a good idea.

    But it feels thematically disconnected.

What do I mean by that? Well, it doesn't relate to anything that had happened over these years. It doesn't evoke memories or nostalgia. It doesn't symbolize any of the important moments. It's just a skin.

To be fair, I think it's a cool-looking skin, and I like that ZOS is responding to players who say that there should be more things that are earnable in-game, so they deserve credit for that. But a special achievement like this calls for something with more... care.

It's the equivalent of giving someone a gift card for their birthday instead of a more personal gift.

Can’t put it better than this. I hope the developers read this, and heed, with the coming months and future of Elder Scrolls Online

That’s why I just focus on the stories. That and some of the endgame hardcore content is the only thing that keeps me driven to come back atm, and even then it’s tenuous.

Gold road had a nice storyline but like many things, patches etc… it sadly felt rushed and some gaps were present.

This can all improve. But it will require prioritisation, planning and not overstretching on the part of ZOS

And yes I’d say a better freebie reward for a great achievement next time would be a cool costume, emote or music box, a special kind of furnishing, or even a tool to help in game of some form. Skins and polymorphs… a lot of us just don’t use

Most skins are horrific, this is just another reward you earn (of the very few ones since most stuff you gotta pay) that's insulting. Imagine finishing the whole game just to look like a burn victim.

They could have given us anything, so anything is good. Including the skin!

I'm just hoping they will add "Adventurer Across a Decade" as a title as well for completing this achievement. Would love to be able to show how much of a quester I am, and there really isn't any other achievement that shows this.

What has made you have such low standards? So 1000 tel var stones would be fine too?

A proper reward would be a radiant apex level mount, but I forgot, you have to spend around 800$ for one, it would be overkill, right?

I believe I understand the philosophy of Kintsugi. I can think of nothing more appropriate than this skin to symbolise the Vestige's 10 year journey from the Wailing Prison to the here and now of ESO. I will be using this skin in my RP with that philosophy in mind.

ZoS assumes I am broken or close to breaking, and the skin is supposed to represent this. Frankly, it's quite insulting even. The only thing that breaks you is the combat and balance decisions, but then they put you together again, when your dead class gets resurrected 2 years later and all is good for a while.

Rolling over mobs and story bosses for 10 years equal more a walk in the park. Hardly a prostration, for one of my gifts.

I feel the same to be honest too. For me I do the story quests out of curiosity RP fun my own interest in the Elder Scrolls world. Not for achs or unlocks or any other reason

That’s why I wish they’d stop with so much marketing and just focusing on making the stories top notch, less fractured, more cohesive and deep. And balancing classes for all roles in pve, and not breaking pvp.

A Dark Elf/ Khajiit hybrid master wizard like myself can hope eh…

No, 1k tel var wouldn't have been fine. What I meant was they could have given us anything crown store-wise like polymorph/skin/mount/costume/etc.

But I also see this free gift in the light of everything else they have already given us throughout the 10th year anniversary: Free mount, free recall, free DLC's(thieves guild/clockwork city), free costumes, free skin(this one), two free houseguests, free house, etc. If you add up everything, it's not just a little. Maybe if you look at this achievement/skin separately, then yes I agree with you it's not much for a 10th year adventurer. But taking all 10th anniversary freebies combined, I am fine with anything(crown store-wise).

I didn't have to finish the entire game for any of the other stuff. The fact remains, the reward system of this game is broken and no amount of freebies and login crates will fix it. We simply can't earn that many cosmetics by playing, and what little there is looks like ass.

Three mounts as a reward for 3,6k CP.

There were some achievements for 450, bu that was during CP 1.0

I find kintsugi nice on tableware - on people... not so much. Then again, I'm not sure if there's any skin in this game that I like. I usually style my characters the way they should look according to their background story, and none of the skins I've seen so far would make any sense in that regard. Okay, the Maormer skin would, if I ever created a fake Maormer character. But otherwise?

I'm not disappointed, though, as I personally don't "need" any rewards for finishing the chapter stories. I enjoy playing them (if they're more or less well-written); I'd find it more interesting, if at all, to get something along the way, related to the stories (as in "save creature x -> get creature x as a pet" or "help organization y -> become honorary member and get their title"). That would feel more "natural" then getting some random whatever for finishing stuff from a list.

How about this - We plan to offer 5 items for a Ten Year Anniversary Gift but you can only choose 2. We'd love some feedback on what you guys want - Here's 10 ideas from us - give us your best 2 in 30 words or less. (That's 2 ideas, 1 sentence each :) ).

We'll close this Poll in 3 weeks. We'll look through your ideas, select 2 and put them in with our top 3 that you selected from the poll. You can then select your gift from the Crown store between Day X and Day Y.

See, it's not difficult to let folks have input and not fail, and majority rules is always a nice fallback vs tone deaf.

It's absolutely hideous looking to me. Would never use it.

Is it "appropriate"? :: shrugs :: I don't see the connection between it and the game being a decade old/playing for a decade. It seems like a relatively easy design cop-out instead of any more meaningful cosmetic skin (no, I don't know offhand what would be more meaningful, please don't ask, just that it wouldn't be this).

I never use skins so I won't use it. It would have been nice if they'd put a few items up into the crown store, as they have when they've tied free items to achievements recently. A good mix of items so that there would be something for everyone.

This is part of the 10 year celebration btw. People have been so focused on specifics that it's been swept under the rug that the 10 year celebration is over a year long.

From the Orinium Daily Reward onward it's all been part of the celebration. Sword Singer's part of the celebration. And so on and so forth.
