It was not OK. I found only a small part acceptable.
I only logged in to do my writs and get out again. Only bothered fishing True Flame, sod the gamble that was the other "rewards". I did manage to grab the mount though, even though I am not really interested in it. But overall, yeah, this one was just bad.

The worst event ever. I hate everything in it.
The boxes was fine I suppose, standard anniversary event. Everything else was horrible though.

Low drop rate, time-limited, bound event style pages. As such lead people who wants said pages on ridiculous grind in order to get them, which unless you got lucky led people getting burned out or bitter.

The PTS fiasco led to multiple people getting their accounts banned for many days missing out on event rewards, dailies, and other activities like trials and whatnot.

As a result, this created a schism between the community. PCNA vs PCEU due to maintenence spam. Players who were locked out vs Players feeling bitter from style pages because of the compensation included the style pages.

Unrelated, but I hear scribing is a terrible per character grind with meh at best skills aside from a few combos. PTS Week 1 was really the game's only chance to convince me to buy Gold Road and well you see how that turned out. This year's cataclysmic failures are pretty much telling me to not buy the chapter this year and hold off on eso+ for the foreseeable future.

The FOMO for grinding the 5 event style pages and the horrid drop rates for all of them but (largely and colloquially) the fishing one was not a celebration. I don't know a single solitary soul - whether they completed the set or not - who was happy about it in the end.

I got lucky with fishing and grinded my eyeballs out for one staff. I decided after that one that I would not waste my remaining event time grinding for the others and instead grinded my crafting boxes so I wouldn't lose out on the loot from those while chasing style pages for days that I may not even get in the end anyway.

I'm not saying give the style pages away for free Day One. But I know people who essentially wasted their whole event time trying to get them and STILL DIDN'T GET THEM. That's not a celebration, that's punishment of your own rats running your maze.

I think more celebratory would have been the RNG potential of getting the pages sooner, but at LEAST having a cap where say X hours of failed attempts or X number of failed attempts would eventually increase the odds to being guaranteed the drop at some point per style page. Grinding for reward is part of an MMO. Grinding and having nothing to show for it in the end makes you question where and why you are investing playtime and real money.

I don’t have FOMO and didn’t grind for pages. I also wasn’t locked out of the even due to Zeni’s comically bad QA. I had a good time.

I could've dealt with everything else, but the last straw for me was the broken promise of the two-day extension, when the NA lost our final partial day due to the last-minute maintenance that removed our already absurdly short 4-hour time window.

It shouldn't have been postponed further, because those poor people who had their accounts locked out had already been locked out too long. But adding one more day would've helped a lot.

Style page drop rates were way too low, especially for bound, limited-time items.

Anyone on NA who missed out on horse fragments because of the promised two-day extension turning into just one, like myself, has no indications that we might have any other opportunities to get those completed at a future time. I wasted tickets getting as many as I did.

This could've been great. Should've been great. Instead I am disappointed about the way things were handled.

I enjoyed doing dailies and my other usual activities. The daily quests rewards were the only meaningful thing about this event, at least for me and where I’m at in the game.

Really, it just feels like any other event. The ticket management issues around the mount left a bad taste in my mouth, so did the style page drop rates. Just seems like anything that made this event unique was not enjoyable or celebratory. Certainly didn’t feel like a “thank you” for 10 years of playing the game. If there were significant event-specific giveaways, I would feel different. IMO, the horse should have been a giveaway and the style pages should have been much more easily accessible.

This anniversary season has been pretty mixed so far. Feels like there’s been problems with each event, with this and the random crafting event having the worst issues. I have enjoyed seeing some of the goodies that were given away, even if they were things that I already had. Those are strong examples of what they do right.

After 10 years of running a successful, popular MMO and claiming to have made Billions of dollars. To celibate this occasion, the leadership rewards their customers by hoisting the 10 year event by using the very unforgiving RNG system for pages and items. Wow, says a lot.

Some of the purple boxes contained nice surprises - either provisioning recipes (not 'patterns') or crafting bits I didn't have on either account. A couple of times, there was even a gold lead. But more often than not, it was ***-hum crafting supplies like common runes or a handful of common ores.

The super daily box, because there's only so many pieces of the holiday motif, quickly gave duplicates or even triplicates of those pieces. Not sure I even actually got the entire set, to be honest.

The horse - I didn't bother. Yes, I have the awarded confetti (did not buy the extra), but why would I need yet another equine mount? Maybe the confetti will be useful later in the year.

The extra special motifs - nope. My gaming time is very limited, and I'd prefer to enjoy a bit of relaxation rather than grind for an infinitesimal chance. Got the sword motif from fishing on both accounts, that's good enough. Definitely in the camp of what-the-heck was ZOS thinking in the implementation of the idea. Guessing it's the difference between 1) your job literally being testing out a game all day and 2) your gaming being the intended relaxation after your job/school all day.

Cake - the slices of cake will make nice furnishings. Not a fan of mini-Molag hanging off this year's otherwise pretty cake, though.

Event tickets - *yawn*. I suppose I could've purchased all the slices of cake ever, but inventory shortage is the usual obstacle, especially during an event. On one account, morphed another indrik. The other account filled a few blanks in the motif books with the Bag of Yesteryear finds.

Butting the Thieves Guild 'celebration' into the midst of the what-the-heck was, in my opinion, a mistake.

PTS debacle. Well, whatever went catastrophically pear-shaped, I never would have expected it from a game which is a full decade old. Nor would I have expected the slow communication from the company. Luckily, I hadn't logged into the PTS for ages so wasn't affected other than missing a full day of login goodies. Not even sure I got my token recompense of 200 tokens.

If it had been me - and I am most definitely not a coder of any sort - I'd have created a seamless (as possible) 15 month long (their timeline) progression to celebrate.
    • Open the celebration with an event only in the original lands. Could even base it solely in the 'capital' cities/regions. Everyone would have access if you have the base game.
    • Then have a mini-event for each of the DLCs in the order they were released.
    • Offer a chance to earn by some personal player metrics -or- by community-wide metrics the choice of one of the original houses. If community, one of the notable three, or if by player maybe back it down a tier. How the choice would be implemented, I don't know (see note about not a coder).

The event was same-o nice with mats and motifs rewards, which I like very much and easy to get.

But it was marred by the decision to place rare drops for 5 new style pages in mind-numbing activities.

This cuts to the heart of the matter imo, I pay to play this game and whilst I don't expect to get everything immediately and for free, I do expect to have something to show for tens of hours of grinding. They should not have hidden these pages behind RNG, they should've had a community event that bought everyone together, like the Summerset one for the house etc, or had the pages dependent on doing special quests, but that would have involved work on their end I guess. What we've seen instead is people (like me) coming out of the event with nothing to show for it, and division and frustration in the player base.

Disappointed by zos handling of the situation and event. From pts accounts and tone deaf compensation, to this stupid grind and them causing division amongst the players of who got them and who didn’t.

Even more so disappointed in the community. The amount of me me me I am seeing. Blaming other players for their woes because you didn’t get yours. Lack of empathy. The blind jealousy. Pretty disappointing coming from the supposed greatest mmo community in the world.

I didn't get a single potion or motif that my main didn't already know. I now have a bank full of motifs, but the market has crashed...

And you get those useless gold motifs, which should be "special", but the price of those has absolutely tanked.

I got tons of furnishings that I didn't have before, mainly blue, mainly of no consequence. ZoS seems to have an infinite source of these for padding event boxes. You get something, but nothing you actually want.

I only got three of the five extra special motifs. Couldn't face further grinding. Couldn't face the dwindling optimism... maybe this time!

And all the way through it I couldn't help thinking "We're supposed to be celebrating ten years! Couldn't you just give us something really special to mark that?" Just log in anytime in April and get the 10th Anniversary gift - super special, never to be made available again!

But no. We are made to grind if we want something really quite basic (and that I probably won't even use).

For the most part I liked it. I ended up with a lot of recipes and motifs I didn't have and quite a few useful crafting mats. Farming for the special pages though was not fun, it was a slog and I decided to not do it anymore so I missed a lot of those pages, but oh well.

But why? Just saying it was a total disaster does not convey any actionable information. Zenimax is much more likely to take the time to read and head constructive feedback.

As for myself, I think I have made it clear I enjoy playing the game and do not let "special events' take over my game. As I have said, I play the game and do not let it play me.

Edit: I just looked at the poll. It seems that the event is an overwhelming success since 75% felt it was ok or better. It is expected that most will not think it is perfect as one cannot please everyone 100% of the time.

    Check your math?

I see "It was not OK. I found only a small part acceptable." 26% AND "The worst event ever. I hate everything in it."
    19%"

Thats 45% that think it was not ok..

37% alone think it was only OK and "Some parts were unpleasant"

Where are you seeing an overwhelming success?

First off what happened to the PTS guys was HORRIBLE!

The losing of last day's tickets for a lot of NA players was also not good!

Personally for me, I had a great time....

I'm really not in to style pages, so no fomo there, my furniture mats are nicely piled up, I have enough motifs stashed for when prices recover and I have perfect roe everywhere!!

If I never see another geyser again, it'll be too soon.

The grind for the other rare style pages wasn't bad but for the Ul’vor Staff, it was ridiculous with the time wasted running from geyser to geyser with the battles lasting several minutes per battle (much longer than dolmens), I spent way too many hours for close to 2 weeks for that one drop. I'm glad I decided to focus on getting that page last otherwise I would have given up on the event if I went for that page first. After finally finally getting that page, my play time went from hours to minutes for the last couple of days because I was tired of the game.

Also, I wasn't happy when the somewhat unannounced maintenance wiped out the last four hours of the event because I would have just used my event tickets to get the final piece before reset that day. Now, I'm stuck with 24 pieces and hoping that ZOS does something to allow us to get the last piece.

Overall, I did like the event, I was able to get lots of style pages I needed, rare crafting materials and transmute crystals.

I know that if a future event that has extremely rare items with even lower drop rates happens, I'll just focus on playing the game normally like the event didn't exist.

Everything was great. I enjoyed it.
I had a pretty good time personally! I got to do all the crafting writs I wanted to to do on each character, Leveled up a little bit on some baby characters and got some nice things from the loot boxes. I enjoyed the decorations around the places (even the other holiday decorations that are occasionally spotted around, it has some quirky charm to it). I did manage to grab a couple things from the tent that I wanted, I LOVE the little cake slices this year. Though I wish we could buy the older year's full cakes, such as the ones that we may not have been on that year to grab. (While I had those year's cakes on consoles, I only started PC recently so I don't on PC). I think the new mount is cute, even with it's tail smear; I love that it shoots out confetti and I love that we're holding a cake while riding it - Though I wish the drop rates for the pieces for it was dropped more often or sparsely through some purples so people wouldn't have to use some event tickets for it.

It would've been nice to have the style pages but I didn't really have the patience to grind for them so I tried a couple times and just moved on because it's only just style pages; they didn't really stick out to me and I didn't want grinding for them to take up the rest of the event I can enjoy. I feel for the people who grinded really hard for them and I hope that next drop-based style pages are set to an easier droprate

The Crown sale is always nice to see coming around, I always hope to see them more often or last longer; The ESO Free to play trial could've lasted a little longer especially if it can pair along the crownsale and a limited time ESO+ Free trial to really show what ESO can offer for new players or people who are curious.

I enjoyed the little additional thieves guild add on to this, the Endeavors are nice and the logins this month was very giving which is always a bonus. I'm loving the recent trend of Older DLCs being given through events or Log ins; it's very helpful!

It was unfortunate for the people who was locked out from their accounts for something that was out of their control, especially for something that kept most of them out for 10+ days. The Communication could be a bit better about the situation and the RNG droprate questioning but it has definitely improved from previous times and the compensation went above and beyond, I love that for ZOS and I hope they can improve on that moving forward.

It's also very disheartening to hear so many people with a lack of empathy and green with jealousy over the compensation, If you're one of those people who is actively throwing hate to the people who was locked out just because they got the compensation - you need to do better and be better. It's never okay to be so jealous to the point where you are insulting, harassing and blaming others for your own issues.

Cutting off the extra hours/day of the event with a maintenance window of 8 hours from the moment it struck reset however was not very cool, Although the maintenance had it's importance; Unlocking the rest of the players. They could've increased the event window by a few more hours or day for the freshly unlocked players or the players who was going to use the brief moment before maintenance to grab their last tickets, box and confetti parts.

Could ZOS have done something more extravagant this event since it was the 10th anniversary? Possibly, Who knows what the reasonable/do-able limitations are on MMO celebrations and events. There is always more room for improvements and working towards them is what counts. Take everything i've said with a grain of salt, I don't know what I'm talking about half the time. I'm still going to play, Still eagerly waiting for Gold road and still will excitingly invite my friends to play with me.

I chose: It was okay but some parts were unpleasant.

I would've rather chose: Parts of it were fantastic! ... but there were a few parts that were frustrating.

The grind for the style pages was the worst part for me, imo. I grinded 100+ geysers, got all the geyser achievements
(lol) but no Sload Staff drop. I left the event without it even though I put in the work. The drops for a celebration event shouldn't be so stingy, imo. I feel very lucky to have gotten the Morrowind sword and Mannimarco staff though (fix the staff to face forward, ZOS, please)!

I am very happy with the choices at the Impresario and her assistant though! I finally got all the Deadlands event goodies I was missing. The Deadlands, personality, skin and house! So, thank you, ZOS, for bringing those back! I also had just enough tickets to get the Molag Bal pet and two Molag Bal personality pieces. AND, I was able to get all the lil cake slices and CAKE HORSE.

    TLDR:
    Overall: Happy!
    Minor complaint: Less grindy!
