I wish to, whoever has to spend their workshift on fixing this mishappening and tracking down the resource dumpers, a very strong cup of coffee and lots of chocolate to make it through the day. - Make it two cups, perhaps.

To whoever is responsible for opening 'the gates' in the first place, I hope you're ok and that you may be able to laugh about this whole thing in a couple of months. Perhaps along with your supervisor.

I'll have my wood orc go hunt down Alduin once more until my EU account may hopefully be released into the wilds again.

This whole fiasco bothers me a lot, because I was very nearly one of the players who was affected. The only reason I'm not is because I decided to go to the grocery store before playing ESO today. I had been planning on getting on the PTS to work on creating a new Orc character. I like to get the character's looks just right on PTS first before I make them on the live server. By the time I got back from the grocery store, the PTS was down.

It was almost me. I feel so angry for all the players who are now locked out of their accounts through no fault of their own. This is not ok, ZOS.

I feel the same way. Under normal circumstances, I would have been chomping at the bit to get into the test server to see all the new things. I've tested every single patch in this game on the day the patch dropped on the PTS for the last 5 years. But soon after the patch dropped, I was pulled away from clicking "play" because my dog was begging me to go outside and play, and who am I to deny him? I was that close to being one of the people dealing with this right now.

I really do feel for everyone affected, especially since those of us who are dedicated enough to do all of the testing that needs to be done really do love this game with all of our hearts. I'm shaken by how close I came to being among those who are locked out. They deserve better, and I hope they are compensated for all the days of missing rewards like endeavors, confetti, tickets, and any crowns or style pages they might have lost in the process of the rollback on their accounts.

Please make it right, ZOS. Your testers don't deserve this.

You don’t get punished, it was a mistake. Threatening to not go to the PTS anymore is a childish reaction and nothing else. Okay, then don’t test stuff anymore? Others will do. Some of the anger is totally justified, but many posters here are just spiraling. They’re working on it, you‘ll definitely get a compensation, you just have to wait a little bit.

Choosing not to go onto the test server is a mature and logical choice given the circumstances. When you get burned by fire, one does not stick ones hand back into the flames.

It feels like a punishment to many, because all they wanted to do was help to test the new content, or preview housing and other items of interest. Let them have their emotions and vent them, other peoples feelings are not yours to manage. Trying to put a cork in a bottle that has already begun to overflow is only going to conflate the issue and make it explode. People will calm down themselves as more information arises.

Right now, they just need to vent. I get that. I'd be saying some of the exact same things they are if I were in their shoes right now. As things get sorted out, feelings will shift and change. And if they don't- I'd understand that too. Some things are just the straw that broke the camels back.

Based response. Thanks for advocating for those that aren't yourself.

I am in the banned boat. I was super excited to test the new trial and scribing. Got a bunch of new gamers who were going to PTS for the first time ever. Bought gold road as I logged onto PTS. Played 10 minutes just getting setups ready. Had no idea there was a bug live. Irreversibly damaged my account deleting stuff and making a template character. So I acknowledge I need to be rolled back. But then finding out its at 9:30 est. So any progress I made on live yesterday is gone. Event tickets and 100s of jubilee boxes, new motifs yada.

Then to find I am banned for 2-3 days minimum where I will continue to be unable to progress and miss 100's of more rewards. Got my friends all banned after just telling them how PTS is safe and doesn't affect live at all. And all of this after just spending 40 bucks on the expansion and literally volunteering free time to test an expansion.. So yeah I can see people in my boat being super frustrated and feeling like things are backwards.

I am going to opt to hold onto hope that ZoS will make things right for players like me. I feel extendeding the event a day is great for the masses who missed their evening but there are still probably at least a 1000 if not more players who managed to log into PTS before it was brought down who got super shafted.

I never even logged into the PTS, but I did create a character and play around on the EU server while the NA server was down. Now I get an error when I attempt to login; "Login Failed, your username or password may be incorrect or inactive at this time".

I assume that'll be resolved around 2 PM when the account maintenance is done?

Not really irritated about it; I usually play for ~30 minutes during my lunch break during the day, I just hope its resolved by this evening.

This isn't expected, and Kevin is asking for details about that here:

Guys, why are you still asking for a universal rollback? It‘s been 24 hours. A rollback yesterday would have been problematic, a rollback now is catastrophic. You can’t punish 99,9% of the playerbase just because 0,01% was affected by the PTS problems. At this point it‘s just silly to ask for rollbacks anymore.

I actually do agree that a full rollback is highly unlikely to happen, and at this point shouldn't. It should have happened when this all kicked off, but it didn't and now it's too late. I just wish they'd at least give some basic promise of compensation for stuff that can't be reacquired and/or replaced.

While I don't expect an itemized list, it would go a long way just to have a basic statement of "We will be compensating endeavor seals, event tickets, jubilee confetti, and daily log-ins once we have things sorted and we know how many to give out." That would go a long, long, long way to putting a lot of people at ease without having to give too much information on unsettled matters and I think most affected would find it quite reasonable at this current time when there are still so many other unkonwns. And if they can't even promise to compensate those things, ZOS is going to have even angrier players (including quite a few of their streamers and content creators with a lot of reach) on their hands.

Nah, it is silly to expect it at this point. Believe me, I'm an extremely strong advocate for the idea that there should have been a full rollback when this whole thing started. There wasn't, though, and now it's too late for it. A rollback of half a day is an annoyance with a few issues that could have been settled as-needed. A rollback for well over a day now is a much more serious matter.

So I have 11 accounts. I have not been on the PTS in probably around 9 years and only on one account. I am locked out of all of my accounts. This is 100% unacceptable. Of course this happens and the site says they are down for maintenance. Yeah I'm sure that wasn't times out at all. I have been subbed for pushing ten years now. I am done.
I haven't been on PTS in over a week (definitely not yesterday). I didn't receive the ban email, but still can't login, I get the "login failed" error. Is this separate to the PTS issues or a new one?

I feel so bad for all the people who have been suspended for just logging into the pts yesterday but I do not believe that the people who took advantage and went dishing out gold and whatever else on the live server didn't know that was wrong.

I was not affected personally and when the speculation of a server roll back was mentioned last night I was willing to take that on the chin to put everything right on the server despite spending a long time working on one of my houses yesterday. I am glad it didn't come to that but it is a double edged sword as now lots of innocent people are locked out of the game.

I guess whatever approach ZOS took in relation to roll backs would have inevitably upset some people. I hope that everyone who has been burned by this unwittingly gets compansated for everything they missed out on due to the issues.

I haven't actually done any testing on the PTS since Morrowind went live with all the same quest bugs we'd reported, but I always usually hop straight in to look at the new shinies, houses, pets, costumes etc. I got a new computer at Christmas and still hadn't got around to redownloading the PTS thank Christ. I feel really bad reading this thread, and even though I'm not personally affected, I have friends locked out and have had friends affected by previous eff-ups. I really hope ZoS do the right thing and see to it that you all get the stuff you're missing out on, because after 10 years I'm starting to get a bit weary and jaded tbh.

If nobody goes to pts, then the live product will be even buggier than it already is.

The purpose of pts isn't to tell devs how to balance the game, it's to a) provide feedback and b) catch bugs under conditions closer to live than their full private test environment. The load is higher and people are random, and the weird bugs are more likely to come to light.

Ideally feedback would only need to be about a player's experience.

Let me start off by saying that I am completely unaffected by this issue, and I personally have nothing to gain or lose by how they deal with it.

That said, ZOS's response to this situation is clearly, unambiguously a case of the cure being worse than the disease. Allowing a few exploiters to benefit from their exploits is bad. But locking people out of their accounts during the biggest event of the year and rolling back progress is catastrophic.

Particularly when a lot of people are engaged in a really frustrating and excessive grind!

There is really no fair compensation to the damage they're doing here, and if I know ZOS, there won't be any compensation at all anyway. This is going to be the last straw for a lot of the affected players, I would expect. And ZOS certainly deserves to lose a lot of players over this--not over the bug itself, because bugs happen, but over their response to it.
