We don't know how long the servers will be down for. Could be the rest of the day (in which a 1 day event extension I think would be fair) or just an hour.

I was going through vendors buying furniture for my house I'm going to work on next.

Guild leader was going to do trader bids tonight. She can't do them tomorrow.

And what happens if they can't rollback individual accounts? Those of us who FINALLY got the Ul'vor staff after dozens of hours straight farming just get screwed back into farming more?

I doubt we'll lose that much time in a rollback.

The PTS copy is usually taken on Saturday, so I think the most that would get lost is about 36h. Which, yes, is problematic.

However, I'd assume there's a more recent state that they could roll back to so we only lose a few hours at most.

I also needed to bid on a trader but haven't done it yet and finished daily crafting about half an hour before this. Hopefully the mantience isn't too long, nor is the rollback. I'll be sad, but this is also a massive issue that will cause horrible issues if something wasn't done, so while compensation would be nice, I wouldn't also demand it myself, since I'd rather not deal with the issues that would arise if this wasn't done.

Yeah, it shouldn't be when PTS was copied but the most recent Live backup before the PTS went live today.

Even a few hours is pretty catastrophic during an event with people farming drops all day straight. 100s of players are likely going to get screwed out of a rare drop they just spent hours grinding which is really rough

Easily fixed by just juicing the droprates as compensation though

Edit: not saying there shouldn't be a rollback; there absolutely needs to be one. Just a rather poor timing when it's during an event people are farming drops nonstop.

This is the same company that made one of the daily rewards free Wrothgar DLC despite the fact majority of the playerbase already have it, making nearly everyone miss a whole day of daily reward and some even have their accounts bugged.

My bet is PC-NA will be rolled back to just before the PTS server opened. People ended up deleting their PC-NA characters from the PTS, and some started transferring PTS-only items to PC-NA and giving it to other players.

How else would ZOS fix all of that in a time efficient manner? It would take far too long to roll back each individual player who logged into the PTS and every player who traded items with them, as well as all of the guild stores and players who traded with those players. It's also not totally guaranteed to cover all of their bases. It's far simpler to roll back the PC-NA server entirely, so none of that happened in the first place.

And I disagree with the notion that players deserve compensation for this. I can sympathize with players for the lost time and effort this maintenance and possible rollback caused, but to claim that players deserve so much is — in my opinion — absurd. I'd just let ZOS finish the maintenance and proceed as normal.

I was running geysers and got the staff about 15 minutes before the kick. I wish I could tell Xfinity that I wanted compensation whenever my internet was down. But, that would not be reasonable. Things break.

The PTS was only accessible as of about 5:30pm Eastern today (1 hour 40 minutes ago), so that's the earliest that Live could have been affected. Roll back to the most recent backup of Live before that, if you have one. Do they really only back up the data on Live servers once a day?

My goodness, mistakes like these happen and they acted rather quickly by taking the servers down. We’re talking about less than two hours of progress, if at all. The damage for the entire economy could be waaaaaaaaaay worse by not rolling servers back. Yes it‘s annoying, but the timeframe is rather small. We’re not talking about hours or days of progress here.

You do know that you are entitled to compensation when your internet goes down, right?

I'm an Xfinity customer. I work from home. If my internet is not available, they credit me for time lost.

(But also... Xfinity is so bad that I'm moving to another house that has Wave/Astound.
Never went out once. All the blocks surrounding my last house were flooded, and I STILL had internet. Not one hiccup in years.)

We're referring to players who deleted characters on the PTS to make space for Template characters, then found that their character was deleted on Live. Which shouldn't ever happen!

Those are 2 hours that I spent grinding for a page that never dropped which was bad enough, but to think now that none of it "really" happened if they roll back is more than a little disturbing. Yes there should be compensation.

I do feel extremely sorry for anyone who obtained one of the rare Jubilee Style Pages during the time that is going to be rolled back, and I sincerely hope that it will be possible for ZOS employees to go through the damaged version of the database and re-award those so no one misses out. But I don't honestly believe that anyone else needs compensation.

For one thing, it's only PC-NA which has an issue going on. The other five realms are fine.
For another thing, many players have Event Fatigue from Jester's Festival followed by Jubilee Event followed by Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood Celebration.

Give those people their Style Pages if at all possible, or give everyone a rare drop.
