New event idea: PVP in every zone.

It would be absolutely HILARIOUS if you introduced a "purge" event that enabled pvp in every single zone. Could you imagine the carnage? That would be SO FUN to see. 1 week of complete chaos, make it so ZOS!

Tell me in the comments below how wrong I am and why I need to be canceled pls.

You're about to get crucified for posting this, best of luck.

Optional PVP flagging with some sort of incentive would be cool, though.

What about 1 week only Pve in Cyrodiil, imperial city and battlegrounds?

Interesting, I was thinking more along the lines of an event where I could go into cyro / IC and use a special skill on other players to instantly force them into a game of ToT. Maybe these events could be combined somehow into an epic annoy everyone event.

Honestly, regardless of what I personally think of the idea presented... I'm pretty sure the result would NOT be the expected "fun chaos" but would be a small number players searching vast, empty zones for someone to fight.

While it would be fun to see the chaos, it'd hardly be a wise decision for player retention. Hopefully that PvP feature in Q4 this year proves to be something just as exciting!

They could test it next April Fools Day, and make it part of the Jester’s Event.

How funny would zone chat be when people log in without a clue? It would be as simple as flagging everyone not within your group as an enemy the second they step out of town.

They could encourage the activity by granting Jester Tokens for PvE in Cyrodiil or PvP everywhere else, just for a weekend.

Eso is popular because it's solo friendly. You aren't forced into group activities if you don't want it.

Imperial city never took off because of this partly

I could get into this as a one week only event type of thing.

To add an extra edge/ease the anger that would occur as the result of an event like this- rotate the war zones between random base game zones. Have the zone become "active" for PVP through some impressive visual changes- the sky growing dark, or some visual effects in the sky similar to that of a dolmen. (Maybe link it to the ongoing war in Cyro by treating it as a sudden invasion via magical means)

Outside of active times, the zones could be normal.

I wouldn't mind this, even though I love PVP. I'd get so much done uninterrupted, lol.

Most overland PvP games use towns as safe havens, and some sort of disincentive for killing newer/less geared players.

Unfortunately its not worth it. The PvP Zones are so bare bones with PvE content you get bored after the second day. There's only enough Story placed in to accommodate Fetch Quests, and towns are detailed with minimal effort, and the landscape is barren because PvP doesn't require pretty sights.

What if they made an event of it with portals to the Shivering Isles opening up around Cyrodiil with wandering bosses summoned by Sheogorath pacing around, with other interesting Mad God themed activities?

Yes, this originated with EverQuest. Players who opted into worldwide PvP had red names above their head, and could only be engaged by other players with red names above their head. It was an excellent system.

However, the free-for-all method suggested by the OP would be met with severe disdain by the vast majority of players. I spend most of my time PvPing, but even I would be annoyed by getting ganked while trying to do crafting dailies, etcetera.

Would be interesting as an event if it was opt in only to get tickets. i would participate but I wouldn't want 80% or so of the player base to be forced into it.

Optional pvp flagging didn't work particularly well, back when I played WoW and RIFT. There were always people who figured out how to get others to do things that caused them to wind up flagged. I guess from what others have said, WoW may have that sorted out now - I haven't played since 2013 so no idea now.

I solo in IC all the time. The reason IC never took off is because people don't like losing their hard earned telvar. The risk involved in IC does not mesh well with ESO's casual playe rbase, which make up its large majority.

Maybe it could be like putting on a tabard, or special disguise kind of thing that only works during that week!

There would be very little chaos. Only gankers would log on for the week and they would be so scattered they may never see another player.
Even if it were opt in there wouldn't be much in the way of fights. Cyrodiil has objectives and choke points that cause players to mass in certain areas. The other zones have no choke points so the population would be scattered to the wind. Players hoping for some PvP fun would be sorely disappointed.
ZoS wouldn't want to provide rewards for flagging for PvP as that would alienate most the player base.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Maybe a swap over situation? Like.. for a week, Cyrodiil becomes PVE only & one PVE zone becomes a PVP zone where the cities are walled & PVPers can come in with siege & bust down the walls & take some flags & kill all the enemy faction players! :D
