What is the Best Solution for Farming Weapons in Dungeons?

I prefer spending 40+ runs in a dungeon to get the items I need
Chests already drop weapons, and based on my experience with a recent vet chest runs for PoN, it's already curated, or I had the luckiest rng I've ever had in the game...?

chests are not curated (outside of times they were bugged and were curated lol)

ive been lucky too and gotten several weapons from chests, but its RNG, for every run i got extra weapons there was a run i did not

I'm in the 'ask the group you're in' group.

I did a rando the other day, and someone was asking for a healer set. At the end of the dungeon I had three pieces, and another player had one. (Don't know about the fourth player because they dropped the group as soon as the boss died.)

Complete stickerbook even for sets you dont need, you might need it later.

Create a tank and que for a specifik dungeon to farm the sets in there if you dont have people to run with.

Re-add the unique drops to the newer dungeons, that way there's a chance to get the good stuff from certain bosses

And if ya too new to know what I'm on about, back in ye olden times bosses could drop "unique" items which were part of one of the dungeon sets (just with a unique name) one example that I can think of off the top of my head would be the first boss in blackheart haven can drop "jewels of the illiac bay" which is a necklace for the undaunted unweaver set...ya j uw, a jewl piece, something that's normally chest and main boss only

Compared to how it was (before transmute station and sticker book) the grind is bearable. Thankfully grinding uncurated drops until we find everything in the right trait is in the past.

I have 4 accounts, my main one, with all the chapters and Plus (when i needed) and 3 cheap ones with only Morrowind.

If i need something from the non-DLC dungeons I use my 4 accounts at the same time, and when they do a free plus event I farm the DLC dungeons.

Now, after many hours, In most dungeons i have a guaranteed staff/weapon drop in one of my mule accounts, so if tomorrow X weapon becomes BIS, I won't struggle to get it.

It is a bit tedious at first to manage the 4 accounts, but it is faster than farming alone or with a group, you fill the Book faster, so every run the chances of getting what you need increases.

And yes, before doing it I asked support and they told me that it's fine as long as I don't use bots or macros.

Of course you need a good PC to move the game 4 times at a time, in my case it is one instance on my laptop and 3 on my PC.

Because people would rather speed-run instead of taking advantages of options that already exist. Whoever said weapon swapping from group members, as well as being a little more patient and methodically searching for chests were good answers. The others who said many times people rush rush rush and miss the chests are also correct.

Where there's a will there's the time to make it happen and personally, I always try to make the most of that time. That's my answer. For example, yesterday I found (3) weapons I needed in (1) run from the Tarnished Glass Museum lol. Also, was able to clear that vet run with a pug group although it took a couple tries. Patience was key and everyone came out of that experience stronger and learning something new.

ESO already has super easy progression system, severely lacking progression for veteran players. We can change trait and enchantment on gear pieces, and drop is curated. If we could get all drop within 10 dungeon runs then there would be nothing left to do.
I can understand this request from pvp players who have no interest in pve, but the solution should be that they obtained their pvp sets from pvp content, instead of oversimplifying pve for everyone.

+1 for a PVP way to get dungeon gear. Something like reward tracks themed after particular blocks of dungeons.

Think as you gain AP you fill a bar and at increments on that bar you get a curated set item from a dungeon tied to that track. They could even randomize what dungeon-reward tracks are available so it isn't too good for us.

Join a guild/use the new activity finder tool and find people interested in running that dungeon. Help each other clear the sticker book to prevent redundant drops. Equip or destroy the gear to fill the sticker book, since selling it will only count once the tradable timer runs out. Pray to Rngesus.

To be frank the transmutation station and the sticker book are godly quality of life updates that ensures we don't need a specific trait and puts a set number on your runs till you get what you need. ZOS doesn’t need to do anything else to mitigate the grind.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Every chest drops 1-2 curated weapons
I think it would be nice if masters chests were a guaranteed curated set item (only guaranteed weapon if you have all armour/jewels). Somewhat like how the chests in Graven Deep/Earthen Root Enclave were on release. If all bosses dropped weapons I suspect you would see a lot of Lair of Maarselok groups disband at Selene, which would be bad for the 1 person in the group who actually wants to finish the dungeon. Another thing that might help is for them to retroactively make the older dlc dungeon endbosses also drop 2 weapons for HM like in the newer ones.

I remember farming specific weapons from catalyst, tzogvin, pillar of nirn. Never really took more than three hours. Before going into a que I usually log into my highest dps, type LFG requests into pve guilds and zone chats.

Then just loot all chests, bind things ASAP, type in “looking for weapons” and bind any you get that others are willing to trade, it narrows down to the missing weapon pretty quickly

Implement a option to favorite a uncollected weapon in the sticker book. The weapon should then have a higher chance to drop on the next kill. If you want to fill your sticker book, you would still have to do x runs but you can choose the order to fill the book.

An MMO needs three things for longevity. New content, players doing a variety of content and players repeating content. I think the curated system along with the transmute system makes the hunt for a particular weapon reasonable while still causing players to repeat content.
At least now you know you will eventually get the item you want. I ran one dungeon more than 140 times before getting the fire staff I wanted and I was often running with guild members that were there just to help me get the staff. So much better now than then. My vote is leave things as they are for the long term health of the game.

No, don't do that. That's a creepy add-on, and you're more likely to *** people off by going through their metaphorical pockets.

Also, weapon drops are curated, so unless the player has already completed the dungeon 50 times, they'll need the weapon for their own stickerbook.

Its fine the way it is. With curated drops and the stickerbook its significantly easier than it was. I think the balance between grinding and keeping people playing is good.

Also, farm with friends and/or guildmates, it is an mmo afterall. 4x the drops.
I do this all the time. Blast through normal with a team and share drops. When we farm gear for someone, we usually get everything they need in an hour or 2.

Why are so many unnecessary suggestions by people who "can only play 2-3 hours a night". That is probably average.

This is an MMO they're meant to be played for thousands of hours and they have already made the amount of time required to farm items limited.

The only weapon I wanted for Tarnished Nightmare was the mace, and it was the very last item I needed from the dungeon. 71/72 and no mace. Not the first time this has happened either. Do I enjoy it? No, I would rather get my weapon quickly and go back to PvP but it's an MMO, and not a very grindy one.

I prefer the status quo but it never took me 40 runs of a dungeon to complete a set I need, including the weapon. So there's not correct poll answer for me. I ask guildies or friends to run the dungeon with me, and they just give it to me.

I farmed the Cinders set over two days (each gameplay session was like 2 hours), and it wasnt even min maxed sweaty optimized runs. We were on discord having fun and catching up, and then I had the set.

Run with 3 players you know (e.g guildies) and give 1 person all the weapons (non collected) and rotate that between each of you per run. Eventually when majority is collected link all weapons and see who's missing the most and they get the weapons. Conditionally, if someone already has a weapon the other picked up they get to keep it.
