Difficulty of the new dungeons?

Curious how difficult people think these new dungeons are. From the people I have been around, it seems they are noticeably easier than the past few which is a disappointment.

    Both HMs didn't feel like they needed much strategizing compared to SH, BS, ERE, CA, etc. Every Chapter, trial endgame gets something to chew on for quite a while but several dungeon endgamers were getting BV and OP tris first day, let alone first week. CA still stands as the hardest HM/trifecta, I would've liked to see new dungeon HMs as recent HM levels of difficulty as we have a pretty good difficulty curve going from easy to hard trifectas already.

    I went in blind and did the HMs for my first runs of both dungeons, albeit doing the secret bosses and getting the buffs in Oathsworn Pit, and thought they were pretty doable. With some actual reading up on mechanics, the trifectas don't seem that bad to get.

    I don't wanna vote yet because I'm waiting for my usual group to do vet. But I soloed them on normal and they were definitely easier than other recent dungeons... for *normal* I'm not sure that's a major issue, but yes if they're noticeably easier on vet and vhm, that's disappointing.

    Just to add a little more context - I would say that for example, Scrivener's was getting close to the limit of what I can reasonably solo on normal and it was a lot of fun. Coral Aerie too. The bosses put me under pressure in different ways and require me to approach them with a strategy. Oathsworn and Bedlam did not manage to re-create that experience at all.

    I've only pugged them a couple times on vet. They seemed somewhere in the middle in terms of difficulty compared to the last couple of years of content, just right for what they were designed for IMO. Haven't tried the HMs yet.

    I'd add that on one of the runs I don't think the DPS had done vMA, as they struggled a lot with the mechanics spam on the vMA boss rush on Bedlam Veil. I think it's fine if you've done vMA, but a bit too much if you've never seen any of the vMA mechs before.

    got both vets done on tues, but i havent tried the HMs yet

    oathsworn i felt the first 2 bosses were really easy but the 3rd boss was a bit difficult at first (mainly because the rest of the team wasnt leaving the side boss rooms fast enough and getting nuked lol)

    bedlam didnt seem too bad, though the 2nd and 3rd boss fights are very busy with how much is going on

    I went into one on a random normal and I guess it was too easy. I didn't really get to kill anything or even listen to any of the story because everyone was in a rush to get to the end. I just followed the trail of dead bodies and then got a skill point for basically doing nothing.

    Too easy, I guess?

    Edit: Actually, I'm not even sure there were dead bodies. I just went from portal to portal trying to catch up. It all happened so fast. I can't even remember the name of it. It had the characters from Maelstrom, I think.

    Did vet oathsworn pit last night with my regular team. All went in blind and did all side bosses. We all thought the difficulty was pretty good.
    Could have maybe been a bit harder, but as long as the HM are nice and difficult, im happy.

    Puged them on normal a few times with my DPS and again with my Healer they are fine. Have not been able to get in a group for vet yet.

    Only done the Pit, second one for the next week (but already heard the feedback).

    I'm two sided on that currently, I'm in a way relieved it's not Coral, as it was surely challenging but not in a fun way. Most dungeons getting this balance perfectly of fun and challenge (Mike's team are the goats always) but it wasn't it for me personally with CA. Even visually it wasn't that striking.
    On the other side I'm bit saddened that it would be fast 100% and we're back to nothing for an entire year dungeon wise, since I quit trials the only hope is for stable PvP performance to occupy myself with.

    Haven't completed it on HM yet but went in quickly in veteran for the Malstrohm themed dungeon (the other open yet).

    I thought that it is a bit chaotic but does not require much strats so it was not really a big challenge.

    Tried HM on that dungeon yesterday. First boss not difficult but we failed at boss 2. Does look doable tho.

    Did them three man with a couple of friends on normal. Did all the side areas. I forsee vet random being annoying.

    I'm not one that likes normal vet dungeons to be super hard, but hard modes should be challenging for the majority. There's always going to be sweaters that can do hms in their sleep. Ignore them. If it's hard for them, no one else will be able to do it.

    These are definitely the easiest HMs since the Cauldron. I'm even still figuring out some of the mechanics despite still having them done.

    I'm not entirely disappointed though.

    Yes, it would be nice to have a better challenge (especially since Oathsworn's story is essentially "these are the best of the best" and the bosses are... not), but I have a feeling that the HMs have been getting a bit too much for the average player lately. We've been getting boss fights like Kovan (where the entire fight is visual distraction as a mechanic), Matriarch Lladi (dealing with massive heal checks and the ever-present tank heal debuff), and Varallion (which takes 'don't stand in stupid' to mean 'the entire arena') that have so much going on, and there's only so much crazier they can make it.

    I'm willing to bet that the dungeon team has seen completion rates of HMs plummet, and this is an answer to give people an easier step into getting into the hardmode content.

    I will admit that it's a bit disappointing that both of them this year are on the easier side (instead of having e.g. one easy and one hard), and that we're again only getting one set of dungeons for the whole year. It does mean that these won't be the type to need progging like the others, and that's disappointing. However, I hope that next year we can get maybe one of the dungeons on this level (or a step up) and then the other being much more intense on the level of Shipwrights or Bal Sunnar for people who want to get super sweaty.

    I've done the vet mode with a group of PvPers and it was fun. They're tankier than the average DD and a bit better at avoiding AOEs even if DPS is unoptimal.

    The first boss in Oathsworn seems to have a kite mechanic. The DD have to kite the wolf without bringing it close to the ranger, or else both bosses enrage. Then kill totems as they spawn. Kinda frustrating as a tank when the wolf is untauntable, but it's doable, and similar to trial mechanics.

    The part with the smelter I honestly had no clue what was happening. There was a lot of fire that hurt, and fireballs that chain you. All I can think of is that there is a lot of running. This would probably be annoying on HM. Good positioning is required, because someone noted that the floor turns fiery whenever the adds die. Anyway, my teammates mostly handled the side rooms because I had no clue what was happening 😅

    For Bedlam Veil, the puzzles are a fun touch and mind boggling. Thankfully we had a teammate who enjoys puzzles and knew what to do, because I sure wasn't figuring them out anytime soon. I really hated the first boss, it was clastrophobic. The spider boss is very cool, but the MA knockoff mechanics were annoying and uninspired, just felt like the devs recycled them. The final boss is tricky for DDs and tank. My party described it to me as DDR, which was apt. I can see the HM for this being hair pulling. There are many cleaves that come out in rapid succession, so it would be a challenge to figure out where to place the boss.

    We were very happy to get our skins. It is one of the coolest skins to come out.

    The regular vet seems relatively easy and highly puggable, which I appreciate. I don't mind if new dungeons are on the easier side since there are so many other hard dungeons in the game that often result in a very negative PUG experience. I don't really care about the HM difficulty as I haven't done them with any regularity since the Challenger achievements stopped rewarding the cool collectibles.

    I did both on vet with two different pug groups - Oathsworn is pretty straightforward. My pug cleared this in a speed run.

    Bedlam Veil is definitely a step up in difficulty - particularly the second and final bosses.

    Both dungeons are really doable in a good pug. I think ZOS got the basic vet difficulty right here.
