Necromancer Criminal ACT illogical

I find the mechanics around the criminal act in the necromancer skill line to be quite frustrating and illogical.
I've recently created my first necromancer character and have been thoroughly enjoying it. However, I've encountered a significant hindrance to gameplay: I'm unable to progress through certain skill lines because NPCs attack me simply because I'm a necromancer.
It's frustrating when NPCs request my assistance, fully aware that I'm a necromancer, only to attack me once I've start help them.

It's disheartening to be penalized for choosing a specific class, especially when it inhibits my ability to fully engage with the game. I urge the developers at ZoS to address this issue by either removing these discriminatory behaviors from NPCs or disabling quests that are incompatible with necromancer characters. This adjustment would greatly improve the overall experience for necromancer players and prevent unnecessary frustration.

For real - the dumb bounty thing needs to go. Nothing is more frustrating than setting up a build, buffing up to make sure your stats are where they need to be, and getting a bounty because some random roaming trader happened to be on the same dirt road outside of town as you.

This is an MMO, not a single player TES game, and even if it was a single player TES game, they've never imposed a bounty on you for being a Necromancer before (granted, I dont think you technically could practice Necromancy in Oblivion)

The worst part about this, was that it was done because players requested it "for immersion" when the class came out, along with vampire and werewolf being brought into the same state, where as before, neither werewolf nor vampire were illegal.

Yep. People asked to be delibrately inconvenienced for RP flavor.

It's was godawful in the past, and it still is now.

Even I RP, but I don't like the idea of other players being inconvenienced by having their skills being regarded as illegal.
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause
    Legends never die

Players requested it for immersion? Well then, here's a way to truly immersion RP: as a necromancer, NPCs won't dare solicit your aid. If they don't fancy it, they simply can't ask for help. Now that's what I call true immersion!

It's frustrating when player requests lead to unnecessary inconvenience for others. While roleplaying adds depth to the game, it shouldn't come at the expense of enjoyment for everyone. Hopefully, the developers can find a balance that satisfies both immersive storytelling and gameplay enjoyment for all players.

You don't even know what you're saying. I'm in Ash Mountain, Stonefalls! This isn't a town; it's a mountain! Yet, NPCs ask for my help, and when I start to assist them, they attack me and put a bounty on me. I can't finish the quest, I can't pay the bounty because there are no guards here.
And, why should I pay for a bounty to help others when they ask me?
How can this make any sense?

    edit:
And don't try to tell me to "avoid those skills" because that's even worse.
I can't use the skills to level them up and learn weaving while playing the game, because I will get a bounty. Come on... don't use that argument to "avoid skills" while playing one class of the game.

Just make a new character, the necromancer in ESO is a meme, most new players drop it pretty fast when they see just how many issues it has sadly. I'm saying this as my main character/master crafter is a necro, like you, I've been on overland quests before out of town where I get a bounty for simply using a class ability. The devs will not change this.

The thing is, I would be OK with the justice system being a part of the necromancer gameplay, IF the class itself was very strong, which it is not. It's atually the worst dps class in the game in pve/pvp right now

I will indeed let it go, not because I am seeking something stronger, but solely because we cannot progress the story or improve our skills, such as learning weaving, with this skills. It's 100% impossible... unless we pay to assist others!

If we completely ignore the theme of the class, it seems unreal that a paid class punishes the player so much. This paid class currently lacks much of what even the free classes have, and you get actively penalized for using this paid class around NPCs. But, maybe the class experience isn't the main selling point for this class — maybe the theme of the class is the main selling point?

Absolutely, it's disappointing how the paid class pales in comparison to the free ones, especially considering the penalties. Perhaps they're relying more on the thematic appeal rather than the gameplay experience. Nevertheless, it's frustrating to receive penalties for playing with necromancer class.

    it is very annoying
    • using vampire skills (except mesmerize) are also bounty
    • being a transformed WW is a bounty
    • half of necromancers skills are bounty

ive accidentally gotten a bounty before on my necromancer because i finished killing something and happened to run past one of those wandering merchants with my heal ghost still active and guess what? now i have a bounty

its also impossible to duel in a town as a necromancer, WW, or vampire since if you do you will 1) likely get a bounty and 2) also likely to be interrupted and killed by a guard (ive had this happen and seen it happen to other people occasionally too)

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

A compromise that would satisfy all parties involved.

People do not want the criminal acts because they impede gameplay where as RP'rs want the criminal acts because of Immersion, but here is the thing, how is that in anyway immersive? you get a bounty for summoning the dead and then you pay gold and your free to go almost like the guard instantly forgot your a Necromancer, if anything the NPCs instant forgetfulness is Immersion breaking, it is even worse if your a Vampire or Werewolf, paying your bounty doesn't suddenly not make you a Vampire or Werewolf, that guard that "arrested" you should know damn well your still a creature of the night whether you have paid a bounty or not.

My solution would be simple, remove the Bounty side of criminal acts to satisfy the people who find it impeding their gameplay HOWEVER Keep NPC reactions such as NPCs screaming Necromancer/Vampire/Werewolf and running away, some NPCs already flee if you commit a crime near them so the tools are already there where as guards will only get involved if your actually a wanted criminal.

I agree, It definitely should have been. The bounty provides absolutely no function or benefit whatsoever. If someone heavily into roleplay wants the skills to be illegal, okay, but players who just want to get things done should be left out of it.

Yeah, that does sound pretty ridiculous! No guards around — seems at most they should respond in fear and run away or something, not also give you a bounty…

Actually, keeping the negative response to just their dialogue might be best — there for RP flavor but wouldn’t inhibit players with other priorities or who just want to complete the quest.

Sorcerer. I will return to the Oakensoul build. There's nothing more amazing than advancing from a build where you can't complete quests without a bounty to one where you can't complete some trials and face gatekeeping from other players. At least, I can advance in story when they kick me out.

I can agree with this. While I would love some immersion in TES, let's be honest in that ESO has no no real immersion and is full of contradiction. If anything they made the game as more of a satire version of skyrim and previous titles. To take the Necromancer so seriously when sorcs are walking around with deadra makes little sense.

However I'm fine for keeping it as long as they update the npcs or the reporting locations. Lore wise I get it but the game doesn't seem to understand the lore enough to follow through on it.
"The Tower touches all the mantles of Heaven and by its apex one can be as he will. Be as he was and yet changed for all else on that path for those that walk after. This is [CHIM] the secret of how mortals become makers, and makers back to mortals."

If dueling in town should trigger the justice system, then it should affect both participants. It sucks when a guard makes your duel an unwinnable 2v1 — make the guards attack both players.

That aside, what is the most annoying part about other people dueling in towns? Does it block access to quest givers, is it annoying to look at and listen to, or is it something else? I actually enjoy watching people duel in Riften — I find their fights entertaining.

I am not a huge fan of people dueling in town especially since they could just walk out of the city/town they are in and be a most likely empty field… but still close for those who want to watch.
