Frankly I hope she, and a lot of other ESO references, DO get canonized in ES VI.

This is simply because I know it will upset a lot of people and I think that's funny.

While I've had my issues on how ESO has handled Lore, there has never been an established or set number of Daedric Princes. And the mortals of Nirn only know about them because they choose to directly interact. It is entirely plausible that there are Princes out there that want nothing to do with Nirn or their problematic peers. There is nothing Lore breaking about there being Princes we've never heard of. None of this is surprising considering the Lore with Sheogorath.

Try telling that to the Kirkbride fans. I know a few that are seething at how a "non-canon spin-off" dares to contradict the expanded lore that's never actually been in a game before. The 5th Era moon colonies are undisputed fact, but a 17th Prince? Heresy.

Same. I had been spoiled about her existence beforehand, but I'm sure many has not, so this must have been even stranger for them.

Yes, I am one of those who didn't know about her existence until now.

The more I think about it, the less I feel like continuing to play the Necrom main story and the more annoyed I am about this reveal. And then how is anyone supposed to play Gold Road first (if they start the game with it) and AFTER that Necrom? That doesn't make any sense at all...

Sorry, but people complaining about being spoiled by the new Chapter reveal are a bit out of touch. It's a Chapter reveal exactly because of that. If you didn't want to get spoiled you shouldn't have watched. It was obvious this is a continuation of Necrom's storyline and Necrom's storyline has been live for 7 months now. There was no spoilering at all, you just didn't catch up with what's going on.

And... how the hell are Mora and Ithelia "very similar"? They're basically the exact opposite, like life and death. One is the keeper/scriber of fate the other is the Fate-Changer.

There has to be a limit on spoilers. If you haven't completed the main plot in 7 months, that's on you. You cannot expect everyone else to wait forever for you to finish it.

Not necessarily 7 months. I waited until it went on sale because I was annoyed about the lack of new content for a "chapter".

But even I finished it a while ago - precisely because there was so little content.

You remember Markarth being invaded and many people killed to fuel the Dark Heart, right? At the end of the story, Verandis just manipulated the Dark Heart to basically spew out all souls again, and everyone who had been killed before just returns back to life. And the whole thing is called the "Miracle in Markarth", which, weirdly, no one on the future is able to remember ;) I found that ending awfully kitschy.

I thought that was just the Harrowed getting their souls back? It’s been a while since I went through that questline, who was physically dead that came back?

I think that some people are grossly overstating the significance of this "spoiler" for the Necrom chapter. The remembrance of Ithelia is not the climax of the Necrom Main Quest. There are several antagonists involved in the quest, each with their own personal agenda, and they form the bulk of the Chapter's main storyline and the action. There's lots of other plot twists and revelations going on.

Alluding to an event/future dlc is okay as that comes at the end of a quest line usually but to spoil an entire main character villain before it even comes out when it's tied to the previous chapter is awful. I haven't finished Necrom yet but there is clearly a build up to a big reveal and then to just tell us in the global reveal before a lot of people even have completed Necrom kinda takes away the magic/surprise of any plot twists.

I generally do the new zone on my main account (PC NA) right away. With all the people around, it is much easier to do the adhoc group content (world bosses, dolmens, etc). This way I can complete everything in the zone.

Outside of that, I usually wait. Other accounts, platforms, and geographies wait until the end of the year. I ran the Necrom main quest four times in December. By then, things are slow enough that I don't even bother with world bosses.

Necrom was an exception in one respect though. I never set foot in Bastion Nymic. I prefer to just come and go as I please, without the fanfare and parades.

Especially in this case, where the 2024 story looks like it will pick up where the 2023 story left off. Anyone who did Necrom pretty much knew who Gold Road was going to be focused on, and it is pretty hard to talk about Gold Road without it coming up. Once Firor made his announcement, the cat was out of the bag.

I just hope it's handled with discipline. Too often the daedric princes have been used as deus ex machinas that can do whatever the plot requires, which cheapens the storytelling.

They can be great. Or they can be one of the biggest weakness of Elder Scrolls lore, in my opinion, depending on whether the writing makes sure to treat them as complex characters. Great = Meridia for being multifaceted. Weak = Molag Bal for being one-note pantomime villain.

As a Kirkbride fan, that makes no sense. MK never said anything about how many Daedric Princes or et'Ada there have to be, as far as I know, if anything bemoaning that people take the classifications too literally. Not even the Eight Divines are universally recognized in Tamriel (which is the graver lore violation by ESO, imo).
I also can't imagine he'd be opposed to new cults and associated deities, real or imagined, with the Imperial City being the city of "a thousand cults" and all that.
If I judge him correctly, his approval will rest on whether Ithelia's concept is cool or not.

By the way, Jyggalag should be the 17th Prince, Ithelia would be the 18th.

I think there was a written note somewhere, but if someone wouldn't have played Morrowind before, they wouldn't have understood what it's about - also, many people miss these tiny bits of information. Of course it's a logic conflict if played Summerset first and Morrowind after that, but at least it's not as blatant as in the case of Necrom and Gold Road.

Actually, they said it was a "continuation" of the story. Given where the Necrom story left off, I would not have assumed that it was self contained.

Leramil: "Go on with your life, proxy. When Hermaeus Mora needs us to resume the chase, I shall send word."
Player: But he will try again, right? We wants to recover the rest of the memory.
Leramil: "I expect so. As does the One Who Knows. Which is why you are still bound by his contract and I am still on call to aid you. But that is tomorrow's concern. I shall send word when the threads of fate that bind us once again converge."

This caught my eye back when I first did the Necrom story, and each time after that. I assumed there would be more of a Daedric plane angle though, like Necrom. We would get a postage stamp in Tamriel and spend most of our time on some Daedric plane new to the lore.
I now think there is a good chance that this story will be continued into 2025, for the second half of the Anniversary. This story seems to big to just end this year.

Forced myself to finish Necrom just couple days before the stream, honestly I'm very surprised that literally no one mentioned that it wasn't beginning of an arch (in an old sense) as we've been told but still the same year-long cliff-hanger that's just couple years now instead of one. Literally the same but stretched in time, hopefully for the last time.

Honestly, I'd much rather less focus on the daedric princes etc than more. I used Meridia as an example as she is more or less the *only* Prince I can think of other than Sheogorath who acts consistently with her character (haven't played Necrom yet) and has any depth. And unlike Sheogorath, she's not so over-used that she's become insufferable.

Molag Bal is just plain boring. He's really really evil, always wants to destroy the world, and never, ever wins. Zzz.

I intentionally waited so long after ZOS became stingy with new story content. I wanted to save it for as long as possible and I feel there should have been a better solution - as far as the reveal is concerned. I mean, it also spoils the story for anyone just starting out with ESO.
