The appearance of Ithelia simply doesn't look Daedric enough, the glass shard aesthetic is unique but her appearance beyond that is rather mundane for an entity that is as otherworldly as Daedra are.

I was thinking the opposite - that her aesthetic was too close to Jyggalag.

Khajiit finds it insulting, to be frank. "Let's have a new daedric prince. From the vast spectrum of possible prince appearances and physiologies, let's pick....adorable white 16 year old cheerleader".

Seriously? A completely blank slate, and THAT was chosen? So disappointing. Khajiit should be happy perhaps. At least she's not "Like BLONDE, oh my god BECKY!, whatEVER. Totally!"

There is a bit of an overlap in the aesthetic for sure, having Jyggalag returning to be the antagonist in a different way than we experienced in Oblivion would of probably been more interesting too haha. Oh well.

Yeah, she just looks like the average young human woman.

I thought the glittery rainbow shards (even shaped like angel wings) might be a bit off-putting to most Daedra. Yes, I know, Daedric things don't neccessarily have to look dark and spiky, but even Meridia has a more "serious" tone to her.

I feel a bit sorry for them. Chances are high that at the end of the chapter, they've forgotten whom they've been worshipping.

Yeah, right? I would have wished for a more otherworldly, "alien" look. They could have even made use of the glass theme (I'm fine with that, Jyggalag's was not glass, but crystals - close, but not identical), by making her body and facial features actually look like being made from glass, with all kinds of sharp edges and a slight icy transparency.

Nocturnal is literally a beautiful woman. Peryite is a dragon. Herma mora is an eyeball with tentacles.
Sheo is a man, hircine is a man with a deer helmet(the graht elk, cause he hates yffre for stealing nirni) boethia is a person in armor, heck, half of clavicus is a dog.

I think she looks fine and her aesthetic reminds me of Tho'at replicanum. Who I theorize was one of her daedra.

Anyways. Her look is fine. That's just how your mortal eyes perceive ithelia. Daedric princes are any shape they wish to present as.

With the aforementioned princes being as you described it just raises the question of why do we need another one? If you are going to shake up the lore to this extent (which I actually support) you go the full distance, all this design does is reaffirm why this prince was "forgotten", because she is forgettable design wise barring the glass wings (which I do think is a decent aesthetic to set the Prince apart from the others, just not enough).

Most Deadric Princes choose to appear as a form that can appeal or be understood by mortals when interacting with them. Its why 80% of them just appear as a simple humanoid figure, its not just females.

Sheogorath, Hircine, Clavicus, Nocturnal, Meridia, Azura, Boethiah...

Truly the only ones who choose to appears as something different to mortal eyes are Peryite, Molag Bal (cause he wants mortals to fear him) and HMora (cause he likes to appear unknowable).

I really really dont see the problem wih Ithellia appearing as a "simple" woman on the mortal plane...

I know. But now they invented a new one they could have made more of it than just perpetuating the bland habit of making especially female Daedric Princes just look like normal mortals. Of course they could still shapeshift to a inconspicuous form if needed, but presenting a more unsual form to introduce them would have been more interesting. Also, I'm quire sure it's no coincidence that this happens to the female Princes (I mean, compare them with Mora, Molag Bal or Dagon - would a female Prince looking as alien as Hermaeus Mora even be thinkable?). And I'm sure you can guess why.

They still have something unusual about them, though, even it it's just the attire. You won't have the average mortal run around dressed like Nocturnal, Hircine or Sheogorath as their normal clothes (yeah, I know the Nocturnal dress is in the crown store, but it's a $$$$ thing and nothing what an average Tamrielic person would normally wear). There's something that makes the Daedric Princes look like they're not part of the normal mortal crowd. But in case of Ithelia, even the clothes look rather normal, imho.

Holiday lights are a weird choice for a whip.

We use other materials here on Vvardenfell. Yeah, I know, Ithelia has the superspecial Daedric plastic hose whip, the latest craze and height of fashion in the planes of Oblivion!

On a more serious note, it's probably something like "strings of fate" attached to a handle. She's only holding it a bit weirdly.

I think she is cool. Seems like a bit of a departure from other princes, but looks like an interesting character.

This is likely only one aspect of her.
I'm sure she has several others and her true form looks very little like this.

Some of the most beautiful floral and fauna in nature are also the most deadly.
    It's likely misdirection, by design.

Plot-twist: What if it turns out Ithelia is the reason the prisoner concept exists and why the Vestige always emerges victorious, what if she is only a threat to the villains and the only reason they wanted to get rid of her was because she is preventing them from ever winning by causing a Prisoner to manifest when they want to conquer Nirn.

She wasn't "just forgotten", she was banned by erasing all memories of her. It's in the Necrom storyline.

If you have time and feel like reading a lot (a huge lot), you could look at the UESP wiki. For example start with the Daedric Princes here:
