Non-humanoid adventuring companions?

Kind of like pets, but not class restricted (e.g. Sorcerer pets, Warden pets). Smaller skill lines, fewer slots for bestial pet gear/outfits for customization, etc. So probably not the same level of engagement as with men and mer companions. A much simpler and smaller framework and they may not even function as much beyond very basic DPS, unless people here see a niche role they could fill, perhaps giving bonuses or adding actions for things like antiquities, treasure chest hunting, finding resource nodes, etc. Would probably be limited to the open world/non-PvP areas.

I'm taking my original character through content they missed after I got too busy for two "mains" and have reached a quest where a Nord tells me that his dog, Pickles, is the best adventuring companion you could ask for. The adventuring races are fine as companions, but some variety would be nice.

I wouldn't mind having a pet like a dog that's also able to deal damage, but it's not high priority to me. Honestly, I don't think it would even make much of a difference at all.

I'd find it more interesting if they gave us more new "normal" companions per chapter, or even might sell them in the store. You know, companions who have a background story, questline and are able to talk. Not neccessarily only from the playable races, even, as long as it's not getting too fancy (e.g. lorebreaking; meaning Maormer would be okay, a spriggan or a giant not so much).

Yes, but as the title implies, Argonians and non-alfiq Khajiit are humanoid and do not count as part of their request.

I'd rather see more humanoid Companions using established race/class/curse combinations before we see Companions who can't equip 12 pieces of equipment and have no established race or class. The sort of equipment a Companion can use and the skill lines they have access to should closely resemble a Player's equipment, race, and skill line options — unless those unconventional options are soon given a Player equivalent.

I wouldn’t mind being able to adventure with a dog/wolf. Or even more Daedra, why should Sorcs have all the fun?

It's a humanoid but I always thought just an undead companion would be good for Necromancers. It would have skills and equipment but no quests or conversations.

The irony is that while SORC was trying so hard to get rid of the pets and no longer make themselves the zoo director, other classes asked for their pets.

Perhaps the most rational approach would be to remove Sorc's pets and provide more general skills/sets that can summon pets, allowing would-be zoo players to choose their own pets, and free Sorc from pet builds.

I'd love a wolf companion like one of the Glenmoril Wyrd witches who accompanies you in wolf form on one of the quests. Talks and fights.

Exactly! I have two watchling pets (one already for a very, very long time), and now that they show watchlings more as personalies capable of speaking than as simple animals, I always think it's a pity that the pet watchers are silent (well, except for the adorable but incomprehensible snarling noises they usually make).

I agree! Though, I imagine it's likely that we'll get a Companion Vampire before a Companion Werewolf, given how complex a Companion version of Werewolf Transformation might be to implement. It might also be the first instance of a second Ultimate that a Companion has access to.

Regardless, I hope the Companion Werewolf and Companion Vampire implementations closely resemble the Player equivalent of those skill lines, even if it means that Companion Vampires get to use Vampire skills alongside the rest of their toolkit while Companion Werewolves only get to use their 3 Werewolf skills while transformed due to their special bar.
