ESO Classic: Would you play?

Not sure. I could have a try at it if they, put all classic Mmo aspects into it.

    Level cap dungeons
Locked roles ( level synce with dungeons and trials). No cap in overland.
PvP and duels moved to own space seperated from PvE.
Make it story progression through out, the whole world ( a main story line progression), with dungeons, worldbosses and trials in normal mode.
Make questlines (story) for all roles - and to that maybe add storylines for classes.
Mentors to help new player´s with requirements to keep mentorship and requirements to become one.

There are more, but enough for now. I don´t believe they will ever make a game like that. That said, I believe it would be a very large improvement over the Eso you play today. I have left this Eso as my main for another Mmo.

The Eso many of you play today is in my book a griefers paradise - just look at normal dungeons and some vet dungeons.

There is actually something that makes me want to go back in time, although not to the first year of ESO because I only started with Summerset in 2018.
I really don't like this current development of the visuals, especially in the last two years, that everything is getting brighter, flashier and louder. Of course it's a question of my personal taste that I prefer a rather decent and more "realistic" fantasy world, but sometimes I'm afraid of where the development will go.

    Veteran Ranks were stupid.

I really didn't like having to play through each faction to "finish" the game. I actually got through my faction and quit playing cause if I wanted to play Aldmeri I would haven't made and Aldmeri character.

Would you be okay with seeing 2/3rd less players in your everyday gameplay then? Before One Tamriel all the Alliances were segregated by instance.

ESO was as much flawed back then as it is now, just with different flavors of mediocrity. It's always one step forward, three steps back and I don't feel they are going to change that design philosophy anytime soon.

The one and only thing I would like to see from back then is their stance on monetization, and a total abolishment of gambling crates in favor of increased gameplay rewards. Remember Pirharri? The very first assistant and was obtainable as a questline reward? Why did that not set the precedent for earnable Banker, Merchant, Armory, and Deconstruction assistants? They could have monetized reskins of assistants if they wanted too but nope, you only get them in the cash shop and have to pay full price again if you want them to look different. The moment in time they decided to include the clown crates is when they went full goblin mode in my opinion.

Been here since Beta. OG ESO was terrible.

I know why you're looking for OG ESO. It's because ESO's PVP was god tier when the game came out... Or rather, after one tamriel iirc. The constant updates really killed PVP, making it a buggy mess that went from supporting hundreds if not thousands of players on screen at a time, to chugging with more than 20. Other than PVP? There is no reason to have an OG eso experience. It's the same content you can play now, but less of it. They haven't done any giant game changing graphical and gameplay updates like in Runescape or WoW. It's always been ESO.

"Classic" servers are nothing more than a gimmick. It's what companies do when they want to cash in on nostalgia, by giving you a server with less benefits than the real server- including anything you own on your original account such as mounts, outfits, ext.

They're just a way for a company to re-sell you everything you already bought again.

Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Having played this game continuously since Beta, I know two things: the launch state of the game was not well regarded and Cyrodiil has always had lag.

As for the latter, the community as a whole started getting vocal about it around 1.2, the lighting update. I've heard it explained that this is when a lot of stuff was moved from client-side to the server, something not likely to change for a classic server.

I seen a few videos about classic servers. It seems the nostalgia isn't just for old outdated content, which thanks the One Tamriel, we don't really have here. It's for the early community and that sense of wonder when the game was new. But you can't really "go back home again", Your past community is at best partially gone for good. (Hell, I know 2 guild mates who passed away in the last 10 years.) And if you yearned for past difficulty, you are a much better player now. Everyone completes the raids on the WoW classic servers that 2/3s couldn't do when it was new.

That said, I'm sure someone out there would love to player an older build of the game. I am not one of them.

I cannot speak to exactly how the game was during the early years outside of some things I have heard which have been noted in this thread. However, I think you hit on a solid point and that is the nostalgia of the early game. With time we tend to forget issues and recall the wonder of those early days.

Gogent, and just very well stated. I have no nostalgia for WoW, so that couldn't tempt me back (though my daughter and her husband went back, and played a while, but done with it now).

And I'm fully involved in today's ESO - so yeah, nostalgia doesn't work here for me either - I started playing mid-2017....
