Start over with 0 cp? No skills? WOW and Runescape have both milked the "classic" versions. Especially WOW. Now they are the 3rd version of classic. How about it for ESO?

You want to go back to low resources, soft caps on stats, overland trash mobs that can actually kill you, magicka everything, and play only with your own faction with restrictive silver and gold zoning. Considering the mandatory subscription model didn't even last until the end of the first year before converting to Crowns.

The first year of ESO was trash anything after Imperial City and before 1.8/1.9 would be the sweet spot that's when the game was at its healthiest player wise and other than a few issues was probably the closest we came to real pvp balance wwould pay 100$+ for a 1.6 or Wrothgar patch server in a heartbeat

I’m nostalgic for that time only because of the shiny newness of it all, and the great guilds and friends that were active. The high cyrodiil population, and with soft caps and no CP we were all on a level playing field. It came down to who had more skill, who had better group coordination and a stronger raid lead, who had better RNG for Warlock jewelry.

Every new dungeon and eventually Craglorn and trials were a fun challenge that we all discovered together.

But looking past the nostalgia the game just wasn’t great then. There’s a reason it was widely panned the first year, and why most players from launch didn’t stick around.

I don’t want to go back to a time without the gameplay enhancements that have been introduced in the last 9 years. I don’t want to go back to only being able to group within my own faction, and having completely empty vet zones, and leveling each alt though vet ranks. I don’t want to go back before the Thieves Guild, or Dark Brotherhood, or weapon ultimates. A time before a functional group finder. Before Imperial City. Before the best dungeons and trials were introduced. Before dueling. Before jewelry crafting.

I DO want to be able to destroy resource towers again. Maybe give their doors back. Reenable ground oils. Bring back clear, logical questing progression for new players.

When I arrived in the game, something like 2 years ago, it wasn't the 0 version of course. However, although it was an "evolved" version, I stopped after my second try because for me personally, the game was unplayable.
I gave it another chance only because friends told me about the addons. Even with those, I have needed some times until I found a - for me - acceptable way to play.

So, from there, to go back to a version that was even worse than the one I started with... :D:D:D

Generally, the feelings people are nostalgia about can not be re-captured again. The newness, the excitement at discoveries, the joy of learning new things, the thrill of achieving new highs, the comraderie of meeting new people also sharing the excitement.

I'm assuming you're referring to some pre-one tamriel time so it's a hard pass from me. Besides, my favorite year of content (2019) is from quite a while after that update, as well as most of my favorite features like the outfit system, antiquities and companions.

what do you even imagine "ESO Classic" to look like?
we still have the same character models.
the base game looks the same as it did at launch doesn't it?

oh right there's now fun and useful stuff like
the justice system, outfit system, the stickerbook, transmute station, housing, furniture merchants, jewelry crafting stations, some new npcs here and there, the windhelm Palace has an interior, tales of tribute in inns, and some base game characters were given costumes.

and of course there's events and their festival areas with an entire festival grounds area in Craglorn.
    (would craglorn even be included?)

so i guess classic would probably be the base game without everything that got added?
    that seems less fun.
i love how much the game has changed.

reverting the redguard motif to how it looked originally would be good though

Level gated zones? Level gated missions?

No way, that dumb unfun outdated game mechanic can stay buried in 2010. :D

It was the reason I once tried ESO and dumped it after a day.

Also other modern gaming advancements like the stickerbook, duplicate protection, group finder, AWA and many other things are stuff that I can't miss.

I started playing ESO after the Morrowind chapter was released but before the Clockwork City DLC was released, so I never got to experience how ESO was before Tamriel Unlimited or One Tamriel. Therefore, on the one hand I'd be interested in being able to see what it was like to play ESO back then, but on the other hand I have no way to know whether I'd enjoy it enough to want to keep playing it.

More importantly, it's possible-- perhaps even likely-- that ZOS doesn't have a copy of the old pre-One Tamriel code, anyway. And even if they do have a copy backed up somewhere, it seems extremely unlikely that they would be interested in dividing up their existing servers between running the current game and running a copy of the old game, or dividing their personnel between maintaining both versions, etc.

No, the game has progressed and improved so much. Taking all that away would suck terribly, no thieving, no justice system, no systems like ToT/antiquities/etc, barely any dungeons/trials. The old VR system, and only one alliance to play. Barely any zones available, no infinite archive, etc. Hard no!

ESO now is like 1200% better than it was when it first launched. Not to mention ESO has a horizontal progression system, so it does not really matter what expansion it is on. Even 10 year old builds function well enough.

Yes BUT...I wouldn't play it full time, i want it to exist out of curiosity, i want to see if it was as bad as people say, i just want to give it shot as i never got to play it's first version and im REALLY interested in what it was like.

    This

Horizontal progression system makes the classic version of the game completely pointless. And for me, having a horizontal progression system is the most important advantage to playing ESO.

In WoW every add-on is almost a new game with vertical progression, so having a classic version makes sense.

    Those are two SEPARATE systems.

I've never played WoW but from what I've heard a big part of the appeal of WoW Classic wasn't balance and removing QoL updates but that some expansions had completed changed or removed areas of the game, so entire quest chains and storylines were unavailable and zones looked and worked differently.

That's never happened in ESO. Even One Tamriel only removed restrictions on how you go through zones, it didn't remove or change any of the quests, it's still possible to play every in the same order you were required to play it before, but now it's your choice if you want to do that or do something different.

If the majority of players could agree on a point in time that had the 'best' balance, best versions of all the skills etc. etc. I think it would be far better for ZOS to update the game to match, while retaining the new classes, skill lines etc. rather than sectioning it off as an alternate version (which we'd have to pay extra to access). Making a seperate 'classic' version would not only split the playerbase even more but give ZOS a financial incentive to ensure the main game never comes close to that version of balance ever again, so they can keep selling it as a seperate extra.

But getting everyone to agree on one version is going to be easier said than done.

Leveling through six-seven zones then run the empty silver and gold? Dueling and shouting for high resource node? No thank you.
1T has made the Tamriel wide.
If I want to play with 0 CP, I reset CP on my character and run that way. Have that kind of build for questing.

It would depend on which version of ESO, but most likely yes.

However, I wouldn't want to have veteran levels back as their were too tedious to be even remotely considered fun and I'd prefer One Tamriel since it gives me a choice in which alliance to quest.

You have no idea what are you suggesting, what classic, what does it mean in context of ESO? There can't be such thing in ESO, it's not vertical progression game with major expansions when you can revert content updates like WoW did, clueless, if you try this in ESO it will be a complete mess that everyone is going to hate.
