I'd be fine if the pets that seem like they should help fight jumped into the fray doing and taking exactly zero damage - at least, for roleplay purposes, you could say they are trying to defend you. In the meantime, I'll continue to use my nixad who simply does aerial cartwheels and laughs as I fight.

I still want to see a Battleground-type mode where we use our choice of pet. We won't see it but I want to see it lol.
I don't hold out a lot of hope for this feature, but I agree. I really would enjoy having my wolf or dog or other pet be in battle and adventure with me as opposed to it always being another person commenting on things.

My brother and I have been asking for non-combat pets to at least *look* like they were participating in keeping us alive in a fight rather than the normal chasing butterflies or rolling around in the dirt pet behavior. Clearly they couldn't/wouldn't do actually damage, but *appearing to* take an interest would be welcome.
Since we already have companions that fight and can be equipped with armor and weapons:
I'd like to be able to equip my Twilights with some form of light or medium armor and maybe a dagger or two.
Mostly the armor tho, to customize the look, but mostly to cover up that heinous skin condition she has.
On a similar note, it's getting old seeing 14 identically dressed bankers or traders at crafting areas or after dolmen. It'd be nice to be able to dye their clothes to personalize them.
