Quest Bug: To Dawnbreak

My group completed "Through the Ashes" before "To Dawnbreak" (both in the town of Dawnbreak).

Now, Cannonreeve Sinyon appears in the town instead of outside it...even though his quest marker still appears in the road outside Dawnbreak. When you try to speak to him, he doesn't offer any dialog for the completion of "To Dawnbreak".

Is there a work-around or fix for this?!?!?! OR Can "Through the Ashes" be reset???

I abandoned "the dawnbreak" quest in hopes of being able to fix it. When I returned to Queen Ayrenn, she will not give me the quest again. So it seems i've screwed myself into a worse situation.

Thanks for the post! I was thinking about abandoning the quest, but after reading this I'm glad I haven't! I'm hoping I can get "Through the Ashes" reset and that'll solve my problem.

My friend and I both submitted a ticket to customer support, but haven't heard back yet.

I have the same problem although the cannonreeve is still outside the town he does not have a marker over his head and when i talk to him it does not advance the quest.

The exact same problem here. He is in town and no dice on the quest.

I'm trying to be patient because I know they're swamped and still working out the kinks...but I'm also oc so I want to be able to follow the quest sequence lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue though!

A friend of mine who submitted a help ticket after I did received an e-mail today...I still haven't heard from them. I reported the bug via in-game help today. Will see if that helps developers know this is an active issue.

Abandoning the quest was one of the suggestions in the tech support e-mail and when I replied, I made sure to let them know this was also an issue.

I also have the issue where the Canonreeve is back in the town without dialog/quest progression and the pin is outside the town at the road split.

Just curious, but has everyone submitted a bug/tech support ticket for this quest and if so, which method did you choose (In-game bug report, E-mail via support tab, forum post only, phone call) and have you heard back?

I've also got hit by this and abandoned it in the hopes of re-acquiring it. So now it's even worse. Great. An easily broken main quest...

With all the bugs and the lag I've had up to this point, I am pretty much done with this game now and have cancelled the sub pre-emptively.

They fixed a bunch of quests in today's patch but this one isn't on the list:

    @DrSuSE Thanks for the update!

Bummer :/ I'm going to resubmit my in-game bug report today...whenever the server comes back up. Maybe if we all take a min to do so today/this week this bug will get some notice?

Bug was indeed not fixed. Contacted customer support explaining my situation (including the fact that I had abandoned it and couldn't get it again) and got a reply telling me to try abandoning it...

I had the same problem, I tried everything, submitted a bug report and a tech support e-mail. They responded back saying to try all the things I had already told them I tried in the report and e-mail I sent. I told them this. Then they responded back saying to try abandoning it and reacquiring the quest. They don't tell you where to go in order to do this. I responded back saying I didn't think this was an ideal solution and asked them where I go to get the quest again if I choose to abandon it. They responded back with another e-mail detailing all the different ways to log out and back on and suggested I try all of them, and said I should also try porting away via shrine and back again. Again, I've tried all of these, they don't work. I responded back telling them this, have not heard back yet.

This is the 4th quest that I have had problems with and found impossible to finish. The only one they fixed was the one with the crystal and the tigers and alligators, and even that one is still not right. That quest is a group ONLY quest that is not marked as such. Even at level 15 if you get attacked by 5 level 11-13 tigers and a sprigan all at the same time, you are going to die if you are alone. The only reason I was able to finish is that the place was already full of fellow players who had to work together or die. Two other quests have the same problem. The one with the jester, and banishing the banished. In both you are attacked by 5 or more monsters at a time, every time. I abandoned the one with the jester so I can't give details but the banished one is most definitely a group only quest that is not marked as one. No matter how many people you see enter right before you and are waiting to enter after you, when you get inside, you are alone. And after you get passed the banelings (or whatever they are) you face skeleton warriors level 13 or above in groups of no less than 5. If this quest is still yellow when you do it, you won't win. I reported all of these in separate bug reports AND e-mails. Their responses have been completely unhelpful. I think it's funny that if you report a problem using e-mail it says something like "these are not responded to by an automatic computer process, they are read by individual staff members, please be nice", but they it's obvious the "individual staff members" didn't even READ the e-mail! Why should I be nice if they just blow off all the bug reports?

Banished Cells *IS* marked as a Group Dungeon, as it has a Torch with a + sign attached, which is unique to that type of dungeon.

@CTraveler, @Alan_Hawk I haven't had any problems yet with Banished Cells...though do feel it's stupid difficult for lvl 15!

@Alan_Hawk, @Tarwyn I've had the same issues with their suggestions. And agree, there's no way the e-mail responses are not automatic when everyone gets the same initial responses...if you get a response at all! I've been lucky thus far and this is my only bugged quest so therefore I've been as patient as I can, but having submitted 3 various bug reports and this quest doesn't make the patch has seriously put me off (gold star for me 'cause I didn't cuss lol).

I just appreciate everyone posting their experiences with this bug, customer support, etc. here!

I've replied to the CSR that supposedly sent me the canned response. Maybe I will get a human this time around. I pointed out that I wasn't the only one with the issue and referred this thread. Hopefully we can get it fixed for everyone.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences!

@Tarwyn I resorted to FB the other day lol I actually got an initial response and loaded up everything I could think of from this forum! Screen shots, forum link, everyone's complaints. Haven't heard back...naturally, but it gave me a little hope :p

as sort of a side part of this discussion, if we did take their advice and abandon the To Dawnbreak quest, where do we go on the map to find the person that gives the original quest start? I don't remember where I got it and so far google is no help.

While it hasn't been so long ago that I got the quest, I can't remember who I received it from. I believe Queen Aryenn gives that quest. I couldn't find anything online either. A few people who abandoned the quest couldn't receive it again so I'm not sure if abandoning it is a good idea right now? ...idk...

Hi there, folks. First, we'd like to thank you for reporting this bug, and for coming back here to provide us with updates. We are currently working on several main quest blockers, and appreciate your patience, as we know that blockers are frustrating.

If you encounter a bug that is completely blocking your progression, we encourage you to submit a help request in-game using the /help command and to include the words "quest blocker" in your explanation. This will help us to gather additional key information for our dev team.

The quest is given out after completing "The Veil Lifts" by Queen Ayrenn in Skywatch. After studying some resources online I don't see any quest connections to "To Dawnbreak" - no follow up quests, and no continuation of the Veiled Heritance quest line, which means it's probably less blocking than it initially appears to be. Of course the game is still new, so the information may not be complete but I thought I'd share it anyway. Personally I'd feel better if I could complete "To Dawnbreak" still.

@ZOS_TristanK Thank you so much for replying to this thread! Honestly, I was beginning to wonder if it was getting noticed ;) The question is, is this little quest on your "list of things to do" any time soon? We've all reported the bug several different ways and get the carbon copy reply but no true feedback. A little insight would go a long way :)
