This one also has 20 7 prof master crafters, and has until very recently done all 20's dailies every day. Unfortunately, the ridiculous costs of platinum ounces on vendors has made that more difficult - this one refuses to do any of his 9500+ surveys just for dailies - but now that chromium and other platings are going to be reasonably priced due to greater availability, the cost of platinum should come down as well.
To all the folks who feel this is going to ruin your "business", ask yourself, are you part of the original problem? Are you one of the people charging 200+ gold per platinum ounce? If so, shame on you!

I'd like to know that too... Never again master writs that bring 200 or 600 writ vouchers at Rolis? Sigh.
Big difference between an investment, which how many people have 401ks? Shame on all of them too you say, okie dokie. But a business and an investment are different things.
More over while I would like to hope this particular change was meant to help people and fix a problem, which I'm fine with, I often get the feeling it was done for other reasons as well. Which concerns me not because of the intent, but because the people who feel this way are themselves part of the problem by putting feelings before genuine logic. We didn't start this problem and its not me trying to screw people over whom I personally don't like. No fix, nothing should be changed without a technical or business justification.
In fact, like others have said, in the end you may very well end up paying roughly the same for each full upgrade and... perhaps even more because right now it takes (4) Plates to upgrade and later on post conversion it will take (8).
Ah well. We all reap what we sow. Just don't do it with my money.

They did stay that they would be adjusted. Which likely means reduced. I'd guess between a factor of 3-5.
I'd guess purples will be worth between 50-80 vouchers, and golds between 160-300 or so.
We will see on Monday though.

But what will happen with the jewelry master writs that people currently have in their inventory and bank when update 40 rolls out? Will those be converted too to lower writ voucher rewards? Will they remain the same? Will do not function anymore?

Don't know until the patch notes on Monday, and can test when the PTS is up then.

Will people have existing master writs on PTS to see how the patch effects them? Or is this something people should set up now before the patch if they want to know the answer? Sorry, I don't do PTS, so not really sure how inventories work on it.

They generally make a copy of the NA live server a day or two before the PTS, which is what you'll have access to when it opens up. With purple and gold jewelry master writs being rare (and having just destroyed them previous to the announcement on Thursday), I only have 1 purple myself I can check with for sure.
They have coffers with master writs in them, but those should all be "new" ones if they make adjustments.
Last time they adjusted jewelry master writs the old ones were not converted to the higher amounts.
I would not be surprised if they just revert to the old standard from before that buff.
Anyone knows what happens to the blue master writs (for about 25 to 30 vouchers each) we already own? I still have dozens of them in my bank.

They said there won't be blue writs after the patch but they can't really just delete hundreds of earned items from people inventories can they?
....can they....?

Any news on this?
Regarding the PTS patch notes on existing master jewelry writs:
"Existing crafting writs will be unchanged but new ones will use this rebalanced formula."
This seems to indicate that existing jewelry master writs can still be done for the current amount of writ vouchers they have after the update. So best to not do them now and save them if I am correctly interpreting this.
Edit: The PTS patch notes can be found here
I still can't understand why grain prices have skyrocketed, but they have decreased for platings. Isnt it cheaper to buy a few platings now to get 10 of them later, when you'll get only 1 with grains?

Oh, khajiit is very much investment-minded. This one's 401k-hajiit plan currently consists of, among other things, around 9200 surveys, and growing.
What this one meant regarding the "Shame on xxx" comment was just that there are many folks taking advantage of the complete lack of any downward pressure on market prices to charge whatever they want for plat ounces, inconveniencing this one's crafting life severely - sure, khajiit has over 1600 jewelry surveys, but the point of saving them is for -later- not now. This was somewhat tangential to this topic, really, so apologies, but it has crimped khajiit's tail for a while and he never passes up an opportunity to yowl about such things.More over while I would like to hope this particular change was meant to help people and fix a problem, which I'm fine with, I often get the feeling it was done for other reasons as well. All platings will be converting to 10x their number. So whereas it takes 4 current platings now to gold a purple, it will take less than one current plating (8 new platings) to do so after the change. Everywhere you would now get a grain, you will then get a plating. Even with the most adventurous of bull-ish markets, this one doubts that prices are going to rise very much.
What khajiit thinks will happen is that the chromium prices will fluctuate wildly initially, and then eventually will settle to be approx dreugh-wax prices (which ironically is around 1/10th the current plating price, so really not much change), or perhaps up to 2x as much. A substantial improvement from 10x as much, as they are now.
Of course, we shall see. If any market/craft needed a kick in the tail to shake things up, it was Jewelry. Is excitting
