Livestreamers and content creators did not create the game and they are not official employees of the company. They don't even own zenimax.
All they do is make videos about the game. That's it.
Some of them are officially partnered with Zenimax though… like Nefas. Nefas also has done far more than just make videos about the game. He created a discord focused on getting people into trials, ESOU. ESOU also has a commonly browsed website. Next time you look something up, take a look at the website. Often you’re going to ESOU or ESO-HUB.

I never even heard of all of these websites and content creators until I saw these recent post on the forums.

You may not have heard of them, but many players did. And they are amazing resources that help a lot of players.
Here's some amazing community created websites.
https://eso-u.com/
https://eso-hub.com/
https://lovelynorth.com/
https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/ ,<--shutting down soon, but check it out while it's up!
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page ,<--not just an incredible resource for ESO, but for all of the TESO series

Take note ZOS thats free advertising going away. This will affect the "hype" over TES VI. That isnt conspiracy theory thats 20+ years of business experience.

Precisely. “Content creators” encompasses a lot more than just livestreamers. Informational sites like wikis, build guides, and databases like ESO-Hub all fall under the umbrella of “content creator”. The game community wouldn’t be what it is today without creators and third party sites like Alcast, Deltia’s, Hack the Minotaur, and others that have kept interest in the game alive. How many new players would simply disappear without sites or discords created by these creators that helped them build an effective character?
nevermind the fact that every other mmo on the planet also has some kind of dedicated community resources as it comes naturally with any sizeable multiplayer title, ESO is actually really terrible at teaching players how to play the game beyond the bare essentials. so much so that we question if the developers even understand what's going on these days. weaving wasn't even an intentional mechanic and now there are toolkits built entirely around it. each class have specific niches that could make-or-break a player's enjoyment of them that aren't ever described in the game beyond flavor text thought to be meaningless.Eternalscourge1 wrote: »thehilanderb14a_ESO wrote: »

It's really not that difficult to figure out this stuff on one's own.

we literally have a section on these very forums you are in right now where people can discuss these mechanics in detail and help answer any questions. you can't possibly be serious.

i wasn't referring to youtubers specifically. your post came off as reductive towards the work put into making the game enjoyable for everyone. maybe i was being a tad dramatic so in that case sorry about that.Eternalscourge1 wrote: »nevermind the fact that every other mmo on the planet also has some kind of dedicated community resources as it comes naturally with any sizeable multiplayer title, ESO is actually really terrible at teaching players how to play the game beyond the bare essentials. so much so that we question if the developers even understand what's going on these days. weaving wasn't even an intentional mechanic and now there are toolkits built entirely around it. each class have specific niches that could make-or-break a player's enjoyment of them that aren't ever described in the game beyond flavor text thought to be meaningless.

Wherever there's a gap in content and an opportunity for clicks, someone will surely fill the gap. Additionally, there's a ton of good info online already that applies to the game as it is today...you make it sound like every single YouTube ESO player is quitting all at once like Alderaan got Death-starred or something, and even if that DID happen, all this info online would be viable for awhile before becoming outdated

This guy is far from being a pillar of the PVE community... especially when he makes videos like this as he openly admits that he uses his guild as an end-game carrying service.https://youtu.be/AniNVUzSqOg?si=62QyGjl5Bo_AJxaC
I'm surprised to see that ZOS hasn't banned him yet for conducting this kind of practice...
Carries aren't against the rules.
Most people aren't following streamers.
It might not be against the rules, but ripping people off is... In the video, some of the prices that he has up are questionable... for example... PvP... Charging people 100,000,00 gold for an emperor push in Icereach... A campaign that is practically dead.
Scamming is against the rules. So, if someone charged you for Emperor but then didn't carry you to that title but instead blocked you so you couldn't message them and ran away with the coin, that would be a scam. High prices are not. The price of a good or service is what people are willing to pay. The more it takes to ensure a service provided, the higher the fee. I can't speak to PC prices, so I don't know if that price is reasonable to what others are charging. But as a general rule, a high price is not by itself an indicator of rule breaking.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. If someone truly wants to push for emp.. they should join a PvP guild and get support from the guild and from the faction that they're pushing for emp. The reason why I adamantly feel that it should be against TOS is that you don't know if the gold came from a legitimate source.

I also use ESO Fashion as it has a good furnishings section with pictures and on larger stuff a player character to get an idea of scale.

And? Im not saying i agreed with him on everything but there is no doubt about what he has done for the community. All you gotta do is look at esou and what he did with the vitality project... smh
And carries- while personally don't condone them are not against TOS. Thats already been stated.
esou is a gorgeous-looking website, I give him credit for it.. but it doesn't excuse the fact that his guild charges people for carry runs.. which reflects poorly in the community. It's in an abysmal taste. I don't know how many times I've gone to Craglorn and had to report multiple people for spamming in zone about their fraudulent carrying service... selling vTrial skins and vDungeon skins/personalities and so forth. It should be against TOS.
It's normal for content creators to move on LOL.
It isn't the end of the world.
Can still show respect to someone who has been a major content creator for this game for several years.
And it is certainly not a good thing when people like that say that they won't be playing the game anymore.
There might be a lot of people who don't care about streamers, etc., but there are a lot of people who do and they will certainly not be more likely to pick up the game with people like Nefas saying they don't enjoy it anymore.
Reading this thread, I once again see comments like "If it doesn't bother me, then it's not important at all". It such a disappointing stance for the community that presenting itself as being nice, friendly and understanding. Once again, I see that the whole ESOFAM is a simple facade. Thank you Nefas, you served a great job for the community.
