Its been a pattern for the last couple years. Community leaders, guilds, content creators, end game pvers, pvpers, new players, and old players, zos has chased so many away. Whether its the soulless feel of the game now, the terrible performance, the terrible combat changes like hybridization or slowing combat down, the terrible lack of rewards in game, update 35, or many other issues, theres reason enough for many to leave for something else.
And in turn those people leaving cause more to leave. From hearing about it on his stream, and in this video, its clear that the loss of people played a big part in him leaving.

It's normal for content creators to move on LOL.
