ESO has changed. It keeps changing and those changes are not keeping older players who got ESO popular and active around or interested.

Have fun with pursuing your other interests.

Its been a pattern for the last couple years. Community leaders, guilds, content creators, end game pvers, pvpers, new players, and old players, zos has chased so many away. Whether its the soulless feel of the game now, the terrible performance, the terrible combat changes like hybridization or slowing combat down, the terrible lack of rewards in game, update 35, or many other issues, theres reason enough for many to leave for something else.

And in turn those people leaving cause more to leave. From hearing about it on his stream, and in this video, its clear that the loss of people played a big part in him leaving.

Only one of the most knowledgeable ESO players in the game who shares a lot of his information to help the community. He is helpful for players in the game overall but it is probably the players who are more serious about improving their gameplay that know who he is.

I saw this. Dude was a pillar of the pve community. Ive been playing a little over 2 years. I do a lot of hard raiding content. Ive found myself moving more away from it. Just loggin on to grab a daily, go to a prog, and parse every now and again. Been revisting other games and discovering new ones. A lot of my friends are doing the same. Eso- its having a really really bad time right now and the future is not looking bright.. its really sad cause i love elder scrolls..

Honestly just waiting for skinnycheeks to quit now...

I have been seeing the exact same thing, used to have lots of people on my FL and in guilds I used to play with.

Now it's maybe 2 of those left actually playing and when they are gone there is barely anything still keeping me in the game at all.

Love him or hate him, he is one of the most influential CCs in the game. I always see what he has to say, though I don't always agree.

Totally agree with you here. I don't like Nefas all that much but he still has been extremely important for building and maintaining the ESO community. I'm glad the websites will still be up but I wonder what effect this will have and if any other influential creators will leave in the near future.

he's done everything there is to do and doesn't enjoy making eso videos. He probably feels his talents can be useful elsewhere, and I think he has huge potential as a person.

if people don't know who nefas is, or care to search up his vast library of knowledge that he has made for this community before commenting, they are out of touch and willfully ignorant.

Sadly, "going away" posts aren't allowed so i expect this to be locked before long.

Won't be making build vids or raid comp content. His current raiding teams will be his last- from one of the most well known endgame raiders/cc in the game.

Can still show respect to someone who has been a major content creator for this game for several years.
And it is certainly not a good thing when people like that say that they won't be playing the game anymore.

There might be a lot of people who don't care about streamers, etc., but there are a lot of people who do and they will certainly not be more likely to pick up the game with people like Nefas saying they don't enjoy it anymore.

It's too bad to see big names leaving the game. Disagree with some things he has said, but greatly respect what Nefas has given to the game. Not surprising that he's stepping back, given the way things have been going this year. Not the end of the world in and of itself, but also part of a pattern that is damaging to the game and that some seem to want to refuse to acknowledge.

Anyway I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said and argued over a bunch - I did just want to highlight one thing from his video that really resonated with me...

"I feel like the retention rate for newer players is so bad, helping them is pointless." I feel this so much and this is a problem that needs to be seriously looked at if ESO is going to survive.

Take note ZOS thats free advertising going away. This will affect the "hype" over TES VI. That isnt conspiracy theory thats 20+ years of business experience.

I recently looked online to find an Arcanist PvE build. Several of the folks I have used in the past for build advice now have a home page covered with information for other games. Sigh.

I had several newer players ask me for help regarding builds, gameplay etc while trying to get into endgame and occasionally added them to my friends list.
For basically every single one of them I would look at my FL a month or 2 later and see that they hadnt played the game in 2 weeks+ and barely any of them have picked it up again so far.

It is sadly very obvious that ZOS main focus by now is to get new people into the game and get them to spend as much money as possible quickly, rather than actually making content that makes the very same people want to stay in the game for long.
