I would like for new DLC zones to have the same quality of writing the base game zones have with side quests having RP choices with different outcomes. I'd like dialogue trees to be brought back, even if it doesn't change outcomes (even the illusion of choice is better than what we have now in DLCs). I'd like the camaraderie built with major quest NPCs to carry across DCL much better than the simple mention at the beginning of quest chains. I'd like more thought put into these things to bring back the joy of questing so that it's not the simple predictable trope theme park rails that it's become.

I'd like my vestiges to have better dialogue options and not be forced to listen to repeats of what we are doing now if I get what we are doing. Make recaps optional and not mandatory. I have good comprehension and a vast knowledge of TES lore. Give people like me the benefit of the doubt and make recaps optional for those who want to skip it. Make the dialogue of our vestiges better too. Instead of "who is such and such daedric prince" have us say "tell me what you know about such and such daedric prince". The player base is telling ZOS exactly how to write this specific line of dialogue that would make the experience better, yet the writers think our characters should continue to sound like they have brain damage.

I can absolutely agree on that point. Player agency has always been one of the defining Elder Scrolls roleplay aspects, even if the outcomes were only slightly different.

Being able to use alts as companions and give them tactics like in dragon age, basically a party system that gives group play feel to solo players. Being able to switch between each on the fly too would be neat. However i know its not that type game. Also craftable gear for companions.
Or prisons for justice system and more heists/dark sacrament locations With better rewards

Oh also group duels, leader of party x challenges a person from party y to a duel, both groups enter combat. This could be a toggleable in group settings to prevent players who dont want to duel from being griefed

    Ability to change your class.

Same. The only reason I don’t play is that I don’t like my class and I don’t want to start over.

I took a break from the game when Starfield dropped with the intent of popping back in during the Undaunted event, but honestly I just don't feel motivated to do so. It's not a lack of new content, as I've only barely begun the Blackwood storyline, but the thought of dealing with the same bugs and QoL problems, both major and minor, that have plagued the game for years. If ZOS made significant progress in addressing them I think I'd feel much more motivated to return, but as of now I'm probably going to drop my sub again and keep playing some single-player games until I hear good things about ESO changes, and I don't see anything new coming that is changing my mind.

This would help a great deal in bringing me back.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

    Story mode for dungeons.

It baffles me that they don't do this. Story mode that's coded for solo play, and gives no armor or weapon. It's such an easily solution.

Hireling emails for jewelry (I posted about this in another thread): it would make jewelry crafting a lot easier in general.

Currently, my ESO playing is in "maintenance mode" because I got a bit sick of trying to find jewelry materials all the time: I login daily to do about 10 minutes worth of activities, then logout and play another game.

Yeah, I can't believe they aren't doing this with the jewelry fix they're currently doing. Oh well, maybe U41.
the 2 biggest "wants" for change for me is
    • option for fishing to automatically reel in, i do not enjoy this pointless waiting game on what is basically a material harvest node, and a change like this would actually make me fish more
    • add some way to fast track or skip the companion intro quests, so i can use a *** acct unlock with all of my characters without rerunning the same quest ad nauseum

    God, absolutely yes.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, class abilities, and animations, back to U32. If the positive changes to DK were after that, those can stay — I want every class to be viable and fun. And of course the new content and Arcanist. Oakensoul is fine, or was that nerfed to oblivion anyway? No, not the first major nerf, but since then? Honestly, I cannot keep up, and that is part of the frustration. New OPTIONS are great and it’s fun to play the game in a new way on a new class BUT it really feels not good to work on learning classes and roles, only to be gimped, made irrelevant, or incompatible with how I enjoyed the class.

I know it is not possible and I probably won’t get the abilities I liked back, much less AWA be undone, but that is honestly what would thrill me most. I was really invested in the game at that time and progressing in multiple roles and content… It’s not that I haven’t enjoyed the game since — I have, but for me at least, something essential was broken and has not been restored.

Bring back reasonable population caps in Cyrodiil, (at least 250/faction) and increase group size back to at least 18/group.
Balance the proc sets in PvP so we could again have some minor degree of build diversity.

Oh, and then there's that templar jabs animation....I think they had a high school kid create that new jabs animation.

Sorry, back to what I say regularly: I would be truly happy - and relieved - if the main used addons were integrated as part of the game content under ZOS responsibility, so that they are secured for ever.

    Further meaningful character progression.

The cap is way too low as the difficulty reaching it is way too casual easy.

The champion point system sweet spot is 1,400cp. The remaining 2,200 cp are for convenience only.

    Some new/old suggestions:
    1. Separate balance of pve/pvp
    2. Overhaul rewards system for undaunted pledges / random dungeons. More reward should = more effort.
    3. Similarly; mythic leads from dungeon bosses should have a higher drop chance on vet, and guaranteed on vet HM.
    4. Curated drops for undaunted shoulder boxes.
    5. Weighted curation for dungeon / trial sets - i.e. if it's designed as a heal set it should drop jewellery + resto staff before a 2H sword, if it's a stamina dps set it should drop jewellery + daggers before an inferno staff etc)
    6. Account wide unlock for companions - a new optional dialogue option if you've already completed unlock quest on 1 character that completes the unlock quest
    7. Craftable companion gear and/or companion specific sets (way to update old sets for new use?)
    8. Companions level from quest exp.
    9. Consolidation of sets to counteract set bloat (i.e. there are 100s of sets in the game, but only a few are actually viable for difficult content (added that last bit for people who say "my RP build works just fine for overland content"). Essentially this game is marketed as 'play the way you want' but for the content that actually requires thought/skill to play everyone is funnelled into certain set combos / playstyles to be viable (i.e. carry your weight in group content).
    10. Class identity - the classes should PLAY differently to each other but still remain equally viable in all content, the current data mining of top DPS classes in another thread on forums only backs this point up. Equally different builds within the same class should be equally viable i.e. pet sorc vs lightning sorc, ice warden vs pet warden (I know the last isn't a thing....yet, see my point about pet evolution further down)
    11. Spell crafting / new weapon types / separate the destro staffs into separate skill lines - a bit like separating pve/pvp trying to balance the different identity of each element type always leaves 1 element OP and the other 2 niche.
    12. As other's have suggested - pet evolution (also consolidation of combat pet mechanics - why does warden+sorc have permanent pets but necro/NB only have temporary pets? Why is the warden pet a permanent ultimate, but the sorc ultimate is a temporary pet?)
    13. Update to ww/vamp to be something that integrates with existing mechanics rather than being a gimmick / RP choice - as others have suggested if being ww/vamp changed your existing skills rather than just adding a new skill-line that has only clumsy interactions with your existing skills.
    14. Change daily crafting writs so they work account-wide rather than per character, for those who have invested the skillpoints in multiple characters it would buff the account-wide reward
    15. Motifs /provisioning recipes / furniture recipes learnt should be account-wide in addition the current outfit styles - minor change so rather than having to check on craft char if they have a motif /recipe learnt (or open outfit menu) you'll see right on the motif if you know it.

That's quite a list, and that's just off the top of my head!

That's a good question, OP. I think the reason I'm still lurking on the forums is the (possibly mistaken) belief that I'll know it when I see it. I'd hoped the endless dungeon would be it.

I'd hoped that there would be an easy way to move to and then stay at a difficulty that was engaging... whether that was "down is harder" and "sideways is similar" difficulty or some mechanic like agony in GW2 fractals.

I'd hoped newer releases would acknowledge the many players who are interested in more challenging content but don't have hours of uninterrupted time to devote to it.

I'd hoped that the writing would focus on interesting over edgy.

I'd even hoped for a way to hide hip and crotch flaps when they don't fit my characters.

In the end, it is the community and guild mates I miss from this game, and that may be enough to bring me back. As for the game itself, the changes to combat finally drove me away* I check back on the game and the forums once a month or so and still think, "Nope... this isn't it." See you in a month.

*Not that anyone cares, but specifically the continual nerfing of existing classes and gear alongside the introduction of new, temporarily OP, classes and gear.

Yes. In particular, EHT actions and scenes as part of the housing editor. With scenes able to run without requiring home-owner presence. For the 3 of us on PC who still do that stuff. And of course, for the 6 on console who never get to use it.
