Playing a Khajiit in the Ebonheart Pact

is this (playing all classes in all alliances) something you can do with normal edition too or with Imperial edition only ?
I think it was a preorder only perk.

I used to be a khajiit but I took a flea to the knee.

Zhevon is correct, it is a preorder perk. While you can play an Imperial in any faction, to play one of the faction races in another faction you have to have gotten the grab bag thing that was given with preorders. I'm not sure if they plan to offer that by itself at some point or not.

I always play a khajiit and I hate the Aldmeri...it was an easy choice.

Are there any race-specific dialogues given to players? I understand there not being ones to deal with races from other factions, but I just played through Betnikh as a Reguard, and got a whole lot of 'you wouldn't understand Orc culture, you aren't an Orc' type lines. If my Orc character gets those same lines thrown at her, it would be kind of immersion-breaking. It's one thing to hear your race being insulted within a faction they're not usually a part of; it's another to have it strongly implied by members of your own default faction that because you somehow aren't the same race as them even though you clearly are, you don't understand your own race's culture and need it explained to you.

Not a game-breaker, but I had hoped they might've put a little more thought into things before writing dialogue options like that.

I honestly believe that ZoS did not intend for any race to play any alliance until much later in the game's development. Too late to avoid such encounters as the OP refers too.

Your in luck, there is actually a mod that paritally rectifies this:
    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info157-KhajiitSpeak.html

    Yea lol.

Only changes what you say, so won't completely fix that quest, but you may enjoy it.

    That's a cool mod.

So anyone who has not pre-ordered is bound to the respective races of each alliance?

Not that i'm racist but... It wouldn't really be immersing to be slaying elves alongside a bunch of elves with deluded impressions of a "superior" mage race. :P

It's not very immersive to have every last member of a particular race on the same side of a conflict either. The Ebonheart Pact still has Khajiit slaves in some places. While the Argonians were freed out of necessity due to the Pact being formed, slavery itself is still alive in the Pact. It will eventually be outlawed completely. I view my Khajiit in the Ebonheart Pact as working towards this goal.

It should be easy to put in a race check in conversations, problem comes with the voice acting as it is now finished. They would all have to get back into the studio and do extra lines.

Use to put in race and skill checks in Neverwinter 1 when I made some adventures.

I come across this a lot as an Imperial. NPCs refer to Imperials as though I'm not standing in front of them. Or actual Imperial NPCs will talk about their city/culture like I'm not from the same place.

Doesn't really bother me, just gives me something to giggle about :)

That might not necessarily the case though, as some of these awkward dialogues can be found within a faction even when playing one of it's "official" races. I have a feeling that there's simply some quests where it fell through the cracks.

For example, one of the early EP quests involves a dispute between Argonians and Dunmers. The NPC asks you to mediate between both sides because "the Dunmer don't trust the Argonians, but they may trust an outsider", even if you are Argonian. That quest actually makes more sense if you play a non EP race.

Also, there are plenty of NPCs from all races in all alliances (or at least in DC and EP, I haven't tried AD yet). Some even have dialogues explaining why they joined your faction.

I agree with this. Play as a Breton in Daggerfall, and in the beginning you go to the Orc Island and they slam Bretons all the time. It's weird. And they are in the same faction.

where is that slave? here not long ago...

must suck to be a Khajiit, watching "former" slaves elevated to "equals" . on a positive note, theres a Khajiit brothel in windhelm for you cats ;) drop by coldheart house some time.

PLaying a Dunmer in the last 4 ESO titles, i must say i really enjoyed Shadowfen, it was an enlightening experience and i actually have a new found respect for my servants now o/ i am looking forward to exploring and experiencing Elsweyr in future :)

Maybe then they could employ 10 or so additional voice actors to double the cast.
(exclusing the unique ones from the story) i swear there are 2 khajjit voice actors and 1 female orc.

i understand all the arguments about pre-order bonuses and any race in any alliance but... has no one thought about veteran content? i played a khajiit in AD(which honestly felt like i was playing as a high elf because they insulted khajiit there too with no regard to my character being one) i'm vet rank 1 now and i'm in stonefalls dealing with the immersion breaking dialogue, are you telling me they didn't think about putting race checks in dialogue even though they already planned to open up the factions to other races in vet rank content? no i believe they were just being cheap, finding ways to cut their budget, i really hope it gets fixed later, yes its not game breaking but it still really sucks all the same.

I did come across one quest which distinguished my character as female in Deeshan. It was a nice surprise to hear the wisewoman say she "knew a woman would be able to complete the trial of the ghost snake."

Must agree as well playing as a Dunmer and hearing a nord tell me I am an outsider in Stonefalls and Ebonheart is a bit off putting.
