Thanks for your help everybody! I finally beat Doshia after going back with more gear at level ten. I also got the silver bolts that you suggested. Thanks again!

I think I died once at the boss, don't remember the adds really. TSW has trained me in positional combat well.

The difficulty was severely nerfed from Beta (Gutripper now is a push off and Balreth can be soloed quickly), so I don't get people saying TESO is difficult. Maybe you just got used to games for kids, like all the wow clones that have come out in the last 7-8 years but TESO compared to EQ or AC is very, very easy.

Also, it might be that you need to get used to think and move at the same time?

    what??they nerfed Balreth?not good....that fight took me 30mins after 2 deaths(beta)

Thanks you guys! I didn't expect so many replies! When I tried Doshia's lair I was a heavy armor sword and shield wielding Templar.(lvl. 6)

Really hard to do Doshia at level 6. Even at 7 it can be challenging if you just try to dps her down. Pop the bubbles as others have suggested and stay out of goblin fire.

Too many people joining who are used to mindlessly following a glittering trail to point 'N' and killing enemy 'Y' to collect item 'Z' without even thinking about optimizing their gear or using tactics.

Have you even crafted new equipment, and a weapon? Have you used food to buff your stats and put potions in your quickslots? Are you using your skills in a sensible order?

I have to agree with this comment. I might have said it a little nicer, but its essentially true. I feel like they made the boss fights a little too easy at this point. I liked the feeling of achievement I got from killing Gutripper the first time in beta when it was harder.

This game is great because its more inter-active than your typical MMO. You are required to block, dodge and such. You should also be reasonably expected to keep your gear up (and I think almost everyone does) but also Im glad that you actually have to use a little bit of tactics rather than mash buttons and follow quest markers... even though we still do this more then to my liking.

That said, the game over-all is great. I'm enjoying it and enjoying the great people I'm meeting!

There is much advice about blocking, and I would like to know how you block the mages fire power. They get through my blocking, and I have the best heavy armor I could afford.

I actually find the game too easy for the most part. And that's with already 1 or 2 levels between me and the mobs...

you control mages through stuns, interrupts and not standing in the red stuff. They do more damage but they are generally squishier. You can also trait/armor/etc for spell resistance. Also, as you level up sword and board you can gain the ability to reflect spells.

Also, noted that blocking doesn't block all damage; just a portion of it, which you can increase through certain abilities and passives.

Also worth noting that the quest in question is nominally a level 10 quest. Hitting it a 6, 7, or 8 is going to make it harder on you in general. Sorcrater, glad you got through it. Remember that fight. You'll see mobs like her again.

you start gaining fighters guild rep by killing daedra after joining the guild, which can happen as soon as you hit the ground in Tamriel. You need to make one rank to open it up.

Most mobs taken more than one at a time when solo is difficult or deadly. Try bringing a friend along. I run with my friends and we breeze threw groups of scamps etc.

Yea probably my equipment. I need to work on crafting skills. Having trouble getting the upgrade mats so nothing I make is better than what I have. But I guess thats a subject for another thread. Plus I dont have silver bolts yet.

The combat is very refreshing. I'm loving the difficulty - and embrace the chance to die for a change in an MMO on a simple pull. I'm getting a feel for the combat now and loving it.

Don't forget to get better gear, enchant your gear, same with weapons and skills. For those scamps, I took them down quite easily with AOE / multigarget skills.

If it hasn't been altered from beta then I agree that the Ebonheart version's terrain layout for Doshia's lair is much more difficult at least than the one used for AD. It has all manner of nooks and crannies that will block efforts to be mobile, and it only takes a slight misstep to miss one or more of her health balls.

I died a lot at first, but if you learn how to dodge, interrupt and use your defensive abilities, life becomes a lot easier.

Its a different experience if you come from other recent MMO´s, but I really like it.

Did Doshia on a 10 Nord DK weilding a 2-hander. I did have a little problem with three Scamps but nothing a self-healing Fire DoT and a Tincture couldn't get me through. Yeah, some of these fights are tougher than others but the game would be boring if it was all face-roll FTW. Be active and pro-active in combat! Plan your attack, use you abilities, manage your resources and for the love of the Eight... DODGE!

Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.

Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

I did this as a lvl 8 Sorcerer with no gear and the starter bow. This is an incredibly easy fight, just pop the bubbles and run around in circles. You shouldn't even get hit.

Trying to pop the bubbles with melee or a slow casting weapon like the restoration staff is an exercise in frustration. Use a bow, it's trivial.

As a templar using Javelin and Bolts, I kept her permanently face down in the dirt until she died. I didn't even see any bubbles, but then again she went down pretty fast. I think I was around level 10, can't remember right now.

So definitely get Silver Bolts for fighting daedra/undead. They hit hard and that CC is massive. If you have a hard CC ability in your class skill line you can alternate between magicka and stamina pools - almost perma CC. Makes most fights trivial.

Also, when fighting groups of mobs, nuking one right at the start helps a lot. I personally use a bow for that for sneak attacks, but there are other ways too.

You do not need to have anything more than ordinary white gear at early levels. Green and above is of course better, but kinda hard to come by/craft early on. So just make sure your gear is in good condition for the protection you get from it.

Someone also asked if you can block mages lobbing fireballs at you - I haven't been able to. That's why I usually CC their melee friends and do my best to take the mages out first. If you see them casting a spell, use a morphed poison arrow, it will stun them. You can block physical ranged attacks such as throwing knives. Not sure about arrows, or if shields help with that, I haven't even used a shield so far.

Those scamps gave me some problems too :)

That being said, I like the difficulty and think it's about right. It's nice playing a game where I can actually die if I just mindlessly mash buttons. So I would have to respectfully disagree.

You can skip the three scamps by climb over the rocks to their right and go straight to Doshia. At that level three similar level mobs is definitely hard. Later levels three are not a problem.

lol, in my case that's kinda true, she died so fast I didn't even notice any bubbles. It was a mix of medium and heavy armor on both characters however, since I always go dps.
Did it at level 12 and 11 though, very easy fight for these classes at those levels provided you're picking decent skills. Not trying to show off, I just went to tamriel foundry and straight up copied builds from users there.
