May I ask what set is causing the sparkles? I've never seen it before. O:

Snow Treaders while in combat. I'm moving at the speed cap, this guarantees that I couldn't be sprinting to achieve that lol
Was this done on purpose? I can't find it in the patch notes.

Does live have broken sprint animations that I wasn't aware of??? I thought sprint always looked fine to me (on live). I'm so confused as to why they had to change this...

ive got 180% speed bonus on foot on the live server and ive never noticed anything incorrect about my sprint animation or those of the other players around me. if there is an error its either really rare or really subtle. if there is a common error that ive just never noticed in my years of playing then hopefully they find a less atrocious way to fix it

Yes. On the live server, having higher than base movement speed causes your character to play sprinting animations without actually sprinting. Which looks awful, clunky, and unimmersive.
And now in the PTS... it's the opposite. Which also looks bad.
I guess they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. They both suck, so I guess it's a matter of which looks worse. In my opinion, PTS looks worse. I'd rather have what we currently have in live.

I imagine the ancient engine this game runs on won't allow that.

That said, it does seem like it was a bit of a hack job which isn't uncommon with people doing something without much experience or trying to do the bare minimum.
I know the "I'm quitting the game" line is thrown around a lot here without any real intent to actually do so but I really do think that I'll have to put this game away until the werewolf animations are fixed or reverted (assuming it makes it to live). I am one of those players that has to look good in a game to feel good about playing the game, and right now I feel like the incoming patch is going to result in my chosen playstyle looking horrendously stupid.
I actually like this change, with the steed CP we never get to see our running animations, sprinting animations should only play when you're ACTUALLY sprinting, maybe they should just alter the speed it plays to scale with the speed you are running?

Yeah I don't use the steed as I never see the assassin jog animation with it. This is a good QoL for me. Maybe make it only not work with base animations?

So... don't run the Steed?
Look, I get the impulse to go for "I want to be the very best" and "I want my character to look the best," but there are times that you have to sacrifice one for the other. My main is a musclebound Orc tank who wouldn't be caught dead with any weapon other than a sword and board (ok, an axe), but I had to put that aside and say a few bad words so I could give him a stick in higher-level content so I could drop full-stength crushers. Meanwhile, I've got an alt who purposefully keeps his Werewolf transformation unmorphed despite the DPS loss because he's supposed to have greyish brown fur, not black.
The problem here is that the 'fixed' animations are very noticeably floaty, so it's not really an improvement on how it looks. If you're moving between run and sprint speed anyway, you'll end up with weird animations. But the fact that some of the run animations are very slow compared to the respective sprint animation (Werewolf being the notable one), it means that not moving into the sprint at high speeds looks completely ridiculous.
Also along the lines of Werewolf - the RP walk for werewolves now also slides across the floor as if on ice. This 'fix' to try to make fast runs look better actually ended up making everything EXCEPT fast runs look worse.Yeah I don't use the steed as I never see the assassin jog animation with it. This is a good QoL for me. Maybe make it only not work with base animations?
I think this is the big idea why this is confusing. A lot of people think it's RP walk > Jog > Run in terms of animations, but that's not correct. There are actually four animations here (walk>jog>run>sprint), and I'm willing to bet that unless you're on gamepad, it's unlikely that you've ever seen the jog animation because not many people know how to get it to trigger outside of gamepad.
In order for a player on M&K to see the 'jog' animation, you had to RP walk with a speed boost like the Wild Hunt ring. What most players assumed was jogging (moving without RP walk and without sprinting) was actually 'running.' And most personalities don't have a custom 'sprint,' so things like Assassin and Thief went back to the default when you hit the speed cap.
OMG I JUST TESTED THIS - THE WORKAROUND TO GET THE JOG IS NOW BROKEN ON PTS
Sorry, I can't get a video, but if someone has the ability , please try this:
If you RP walk with the Jester personality while wearing Wild Hunt, you'll do the most hysterical waddle. But on PTS, it tries to keep you constrained into the 'walk' animation so you just do the normal walk while sliding along like you're on ice. M&K players are therefore unable to see 'jog' animations due to this change.
This change NEEDS to be reverted. If a player wants to see a different animation, there are ways to take more/fewer speed boosts. But removing the ability to see animations is NEVER the answer. Especially if it ends up making the entirety of Tamriel look like an ice rink.

theyre ruining the way the game looks for the sake of what seems to me to be a very small and quiet section of the player base who had issues with wanting to see all the animations. the solutions players themselves can do are so easy such as taking off the wild hunt ring, not using speed boost abilities/passives, taking off speed boost sets. the devs really didnt have to go out of their way to make the game look goofy for everyone on behalf of those players
Animations
Sprint animations for your character will no longer be incorrectly played as a result of increasing movement speed to high levels.
Wait. This is intentional? Please tell me it's bugged. WW ice skating looks silly as hell. Same for all the personalities.
