[NOT LONGER REQUESTED] Option to NOT collect Tel'var stones

Honestly, I would reduce - BUT NOT ELIMINATE - the tel var penalty for dying, whether to monsters or to another player. For instance, 20% instead of 50%.

Still... When you die, *go back to base and bank immediately*. Then go out again with 0. If you then get jumped a second time, you lose nothing.

    False dilemma.
Pvpers, even gankers, don't kill other players --just-- for the Telvar reward.
PvP is more fun to some of us than PvE.

Also, it isn't -your- Telvar until you successfully get it home.

To be honest Iplayers should pay no more attention to other players' getting Telvar than they do to the
NPCs and Bosses who get paid in gold when players die to them.
Yes they do get a gold reward, it is called Repairs.

back when IC released, the penalty used to be like something around 50-70% lost to players but only 20 or 30% lost to NPCs, so if you were in trouble, you could let the NPCs get the killing blow on you and lose far less tel var

then they balanced it so you lost 50% regardless of the source of the death

Dear Zos, this is to notify you that as of today we are on strike.
We will not return to work until our one demand is met.
We demand that you stop rewarding players for forming groups to battle us.
We feel that this is unfair, and they should not be rewarded for this behaviour.
We will of course return to work eagerly if this demand is met.

    Dear Bossy McBoss (et al),

After much consideration we have decided on a compromise to your demand.
We will remove all Taunt abilities from players.
This should make the combat more fair as it will remove all tank/spank and pixel stacking by players.
To keep it fair we will have to remove your immunities to CC skills but we will balance this out by
allowing you to designate some of your assistants as healers.
Let us know if this is acceptable.

Exactly. If we are asking to turn off the rewards then we are asking to kill what is left in the zone. That will not be happening.

Where do you think the Tel Var you looted off players came from. Removing players as a source of Tel Var doesn't remove it from the zone entirely.

Good point, but the PvP source tends to be the best return so it would be a major chilling effect. Then there is the fact it is a zone intended and designed to have PvP as part of it which means if a player does not want to risk dealing with PvP they have no business being in that Zone.

So yea, Zenimax is not likely to create PvE-only access to either of the two zones designed to have PvP.

If ZOS places Quests in that zone then they will always have business being in that zone, regardless of their opinion on being farmed as cash cows.

Well, I do think it's fair to say that ZOS placed those quests in a PvPvE zone intentionally. Three of the Cyrodiil towns are Alliance War staging areas. It's a minor plot point in the Imperial City quest line that the alliances are too busy fighting each other to focus on the fact that Molag Bal is working to seal his victory and prevent the Dragonfires from being relit.

Players who want to quest always have a place there...but that doesn't mean their place is to quest without the risk of PVP.

(I'm actually fairly sympathetic to a quest-only version of IC where there are no other rewards except getting to experience the story risk-free. But most people I discuss that with actually want the skyshards, achievements, etc. and don't just want to quest risk-free.)

Keep in mind stealth just got heavily nerfed this patch.

AND as someone who has a vampire nb for the express purpose of avoiding combat in pvp areas… I have run into enough “quest location” campers in IC to know that personal experiences with avoiding pvp can vary widely apparently. [/quote]

Oh? I hadn't noticed. I've completed PVP quests everyday, farming event boxes and tickets without major issue. No one is stopping me. Maybe go in with a group or queue for less populated campaigns? Ion know what to tell y'all. I've never experienced or witnessed this alleged massive problem. Never been more than a minor inconvenience.

50% is the price of your education in Imperial City.

Don't like losing credits? Neither do I. Where there's a will there's a way and if you are expecting better results well that needs to start with -you-. I have largely been ignoring IC for some time now working on other things and recently have been going back there because I'm tired of paying 100k+ for Hakeijos.

If some of you will just give yourselves a chance and think about possible mistakes you're making you will learn how to survive in IC. One thing for example, this is on the house, NBs need to be exceptionally careful in open areas with LOS everywhere and never assume someone is there 'alone' farming.

Which part is wrong and how?

Gankers exist in Cyrodiil and there is no Telvar there so obviously not Telvar isn't the only consideration.

There are entire guilds based on players liking PvP more than PvE.

The gold thing is a stretch as you have to imagine a conspiracy where the merchants are paying the monsters to pop you but NPCs of one kind or another do get your gold when you repair.

And much like playing poker the chips are not yours until you leave the table and the Telvar are not yours until you either spend them or put them in the bank.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

ZOS encourages you to kill players. Kill 40 players mission, Kill 20 (your class here) quests, Kill 1 player endeavors, titles, dyes, furnishings, achievements, polymorphs, costumes, face markings, tel var, etc.

Of course players will kill you. There are many reasons to do so.

Except we are talking specifically about Imperial City and Tel Var, not Cyrodiil, which is a totally different dynamic.

No one goes to IC for the Kill 40 players mission, Kill 20 of a class, the endeavors or for titles, dyes, furnishings, achievements, polymorphs, costumes, face markings etc.

That's why Cyrodill is reasonably well populated and even occasionally pop locked while Imperial City remains virtually empty.

You only have to look at the high price of Hekeijo's (90k+ gold) which sells very well vs the paltry 5k Tel Var cost, so players are obviously prefering to pay a premium than go to 'Griefer City' for the Tel Var.

    Pardon?

I've done Kill 40 and sometimes Kill 20 (especially if it's Kill 20 Arcanists) every day in Imperial City during this event and the last. And those kills absolutely count towards your Alliance rank, give you AP, endeavors, titles, dyes, furnishings, achievements, polymorphs, costumes, face markings and the like.

I've got over 200 million AP in the bank, but only a few million tel var... so I leave Cyrodiil during double TV events and focus on the city. I guess that makes me "No one," but I'm ok with that.

Events are obviously the exception lol. And you might even be the exception that proves the rule.

But that not withstanding, for 11 months of the year IC is virtually empty, 'cept for the griefers (and one or two exceptions), so bragging about your wealth is irrelevant in the context of this thread and the reality of what Imperial City unfortunately represents.

There are now some 45 zones in this game. Only two have PVP. What is it that keeps bringing people back to the forum with requests based on the premise that people PVPing in a PVP zone are a 'hindrance' ? A hindrance to what? What is so terrible about missing out on two zones that this is something worth calling attention to? Is there an answer to that question that does not call into question whether those people have their priorities straight?
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

    It's 'misinformation' now?

Back on topic, the reason Imperial City is a dead zone for most of the year is that it's a haven for griefers and whether you have Tel Var or not makes no difference at all to the obvious and predictable outcomes.

It's wrong to say some people prefer PvP? I know I personally prefer PvE but I fail to see how someone saying they find PvP more fun is WRONG.

It also isn't your Telvar until you bank it, hence the entire thread multiple people are participating in.

The final statement they made is what they think players should do. How can an subjective opinion be wrong?

I'm sorry but this just came across as needlessly dismissive and rude.

Not true at all that 'many others' go IC outside of events. Even during the event at prime time any given alliance rarely has more than two bars, let alone a pop lock.

Its a plain fact that Imperial City is a virtual dead zone for 11 months of the year. Has been for years. Griefing and toxicity being symptomatic of the demise in popularity.

Like I said, if anyone has been influenced by 'misinformation' as you bizzarely claim, then all they have to do is go see for themselves post event :)

A daily endeavor is an event.
You usually get a handful of people hunting dragons on N. Elsweyr. When there is a dragon kill endeavor up, there are old school Cyrodiil-style zergs hunting them instead.

that would kill the risk of playing in IC and everyone would come and farm unprepared or with a pve build to smash it all

also it's quite unfair to people taking risks (against monsters but also against other players) they are completely exposed. If you're able to attack them and reduce their health pool without risking your tel'var, what would happen if someone else with tel'var enabled finish him off? poor guy :D

Check your alliance if theybcontrol the area, it would also make it easier. Tel var mehh.
