I was into elder scrolls when i came into this game, but mostly i just need something to occupy myself for my own mental health and it certainly fulfills that in many ways.😀

The variety keeps me coming back. There are so many things to do its amazing. And with the nod toward the players who want slightly more difficult boss encounters, I am more likely to continue playing.

Fun lag free PVP - check
Small and Large Scale PvP - Check
Hybrid Zone via Imperial City - Check
    Housing - Check
    Mini games - Check
More difficult overland FINALLY - Check
Massive variety on build choices - Check
    Dungeons and Trials - Check

The game does not have a lot of vertical progression. It's not like every dlc we get better gear that makes us stronger. Mostly in endgame you become stronger by improving your rotation, positioning, etc. So when the developers decide to make you weaker for no reason other than just because.... it does not feel good.
To make it worse they said that they are doing it to help newer players which absolutely was not the case. The point was not the change but rather the fact that they spent so much time and effort on things that benefited no one rather than making meaningful changes that would actually improve the game.
End game players do not get much content. We get 1 raid per year and a few dungeons. So when we see So much time being put into making counterproductive changes it feels like a slap in the face.

I play everyday because I love this game for it's entertainment value. I have also been playing since basically the beginning and have spent so much time, effort and money, I feel that if I stop, all of that would be wasted. I haven't hit the max 3600 level yet, so yeah, goals. I am also an Elder Scrolls junkie, and have been playing since Arena. There is just no way I'll ever stop playing an Elder Scrolls game. Sometimes, I break out Daggerfall, just so I can have my harness horse trot for a bit! ;)

Casual players here, but would love to share my pov on why i still play ESO since 2014.

As a casual solo players, i do not do hardcore content such as Trials or the V Trials, as a matter of fact, i would probably never touch Trials

I've been a hardcore MMO players once in my life, especially in WoW, i've completed all available Mythic raiding available in the game and we could raid almost 5 hours each day. And i no longer crave hardcore gaming in my early 30s right now.

the reason why i am still hooked with ESO unlike the other MMO is purely because of the lore and flexibility on the game, i can be doing any zone i want at any given time, which is something i can't do with other MMO while still enjoying Cyrodiil faction pvp which for me is quite relaxing because you are not being demanded to perform unlike arena or bg.

And then there are just the housing which i think is one of the selling point for casual players in ESO, and also revisiting old zones because there are just a bunch of quests with a very nice ( and sometimes funny ) side quests that we might have missed during the early days

So i think overall, ESO still have so many things to do even for older players.

The problem is this game was never meant to be catered to end-game players like you said. Once you start realizing that, you won't be disappointed. If you want a good raiding scene, go to WoW. ESO is a casual game and a "solo-MMO." It's not a main game once you're completely caught up with content in my opinion - come back for expansions and big content releases and then play something else. It's a game! Do what makes you happy. For me - that was choosing to play D4 over Necrom and now that im actually playing necrom, i'm glad I made that choice b/c it's pretty sparse! Story is good, but no new content outside of the raid until Q4.

Basically the only reason I am here is because It's an Elder Scrolls game (with worse questing tho) and combat (which is progressively getting worse). Just waiting for an action based MMORPG to completely ditch ESO atm.

I think you have it exactly backwards. The game was originally intended to have PvP and trials as the end game, so by definition, ESO was originally intended to be highly competitive. That's why they have leaderboards, trifecta achievements and all that.

ESO has radically changed direction over the last few years though, then came U35.

Guess it's more about them changing direction pretty quickly since launch as eso was never considered a raiding game or a "proper" mmo in a broader mmo community but more of an underdog game that had great PvP potential that was lost with performance mostly to never recover.

I'm mainly a solo player who enjoys doing dungeons, pvp, and exploring. It would be nice if I had a small group of friends to play the game with.

what's the point here? My reasons for playing ESO, or any game for that matter, are my own. I have no interest in other people's judgements of why I should or should not play.

I have fun and that's all that matters.

I like the new class. Plus, I stop playing games when I get bored. That hasn't happened here to me yet.

At the end of a day, it's all just a pointless activity. And that will be all gone someday. So I'm just here for the ride until the train ends.

Good afternoon @ZOS_Hadeostry and @ZOS_Kevin I’m curious how is this thread considered “players helping players” when there’s no issue being solved communally? This is a colloquial discussion about why hardcore PVE players continue to play and not a problem solving session or a technical issue thread.

This thread movement is the exact point being illustrated in the 10 page thread here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/628869/please-stop-pushing-threads-into-players-helping-players-section#latest asking mods to stop moving threads into players helping players when they’re not solving issues.

Well OP said he has abandoned this game a while ago, so maybe ZOS thinks that people telling their stories will, in some therapeutic way, help him to come back to game :) .
