Ooh, a story quest Boss where we actually have to try? Do we finally get a bad guy that doesn't get burned down mid monologue?
Seems a LOT of people don't understand what the entire conversation here is about. It has nothing to do with difficulty, and everything to do with mechanics not working properly. As mentioned previously, there are quest NPCs that lend us abilities- using these abilities allow us to do MASSIVE damage on the boss... and their health bar shrinks considerably when you use the NPC abilities. The problem is, the prompt to allow us to use their abilities doesn't always show up- and the NPC keeps telling us to use their ability, but without the prompt, we can't. Thus, it makes the entire combat extremely difficult because we cannot reduce their health as quickly or easily without using the NPC abilities.
When I completed it, I was not aware there were supposed to be 'markers' on the floor- that we utilize to access these NPC abilities. If that's true, then those directions are not very clear during the questline. I completed this on a max level Magplar and I think I was able to access the NPC ability ONCE during the final boss fight- and that is when I was able to reduce the bosses health substantially. The rest of the time I was thankful I was on my Templar and able to spam Sweeps for the heals; but was finally able to defeat them without NPC help. It's doable, but not easily.

There is something completely ridiculous about meeting the big bad, listening to their whole speech, engaging in attack, and then leaving to level up and collect gear for a few days/weeks.
"Excuse me, sorry, I'm just gonna.... head on out. I gotta go get a new shirt and pants, and THEN I'll come back and kill you!! Just. Wait here. Don't continue destroying the world or anything, ok? Ok."

So you want to finish the main quest of the Expansion and be the Hero of Necrom with a level 18 character...
The game introduced battle scaling for a reason.
and this topic shows you how silly of an addition it was.
No, this topic shows you IT IS NOT INTENDED to complete the quest and kill that boss being a level 18.

Nonsense. The game scales. If you start a new character with a chapter, you should be able to finish the chapter on that new character. It's how every other chapter has gone down for me, as I've typically celebrated new chapters with new characters.
I mean sure, I could go and get one of my fully tooled up end game characters, but that has never been necessary in past chapters. And shouldn't be necessary. A chapter is just that... a chapter. Anyone level character be able to finish it.

Comparable example: "Dragonhold" Prologue quest, the dragon Vahlokziin... Has massive health, you can only whittle it away slowly... BUT twice during the fight Sai Sahan blows the Dragonhorn of Ja'Darri, and each time this will actually knock off 48% of his health, so in reality you only need to beat 4% of his actual health number. (1% before the horn is blown for the first time, 1% before it's blown a second time, 2% to finish off, with a massive swarm of kwama before each phase.)
In this case, the attack happens automatically rather than being something that requires a synergy button to be hit.
Similar could be said about the battle against the other final Dragons in Elsweyr and Dragonhold.

In all the TES and Fallout games, if you come across a boss you cannot beat, you either load a save or turn around and go elsewhere and get items, level, and gear and return when you can beat the boss. This timeline to beat the boss only exists in your head, remember that this is a game.
Actually... in TES and FO I lower the difficulty and if I still can't beat the boss, I'll change the stats in the modkit.
Quite frankly, I play games to relax and be entertained rather than challenged.
Yes, but this was the first time they actually spoke! Which was awesome. "He also helped me with..." "And he also cleared ... from ... for me"Fenris_Arainai wrote: »This isn't a new thing. Battle scaling is one of the best additions ever. Being able to go anywhere at any time and do anything.Dragonnord wrote: »BaggyGreen wrote: »maybe you're Level 18 or so... a

Is there a hard boss in the new chapter? Maybe I should buy it then. This game is way too easy IMO

For that part of the fight (I'm assuming your on), you have to look in the right direction, in this case, UP, at your target in the sky, to use it.
I didn't understand where the prompt was, looking around for a synergy for a few mins, until I looked in the right spot.
Hope this helps!

Yep, hard boss if you don't get the NPC prompts or follow some directional or spot on the floor you need to stand in to use their special abilities. Game might be too easy for you, but last night saw a player die fighting two Clannfear outside a dolmen; so clearly not easy for everybody.

Nothing in the sky. Just a laser beam that you have to stay on the move from, and then a bunch of adds that can all reflect the beam, cutting down your movement options. Just tried it again tonight. The 'ghost sight' audio played about three times, but only once did the 'hit X' option appear on the screen. Just utterly fruitless, and again I come back to this concept that if they want people to start a new character class and play through the story, making this part of the story nigh impossible - whether because of bugs of just stupid mechanics that don't work, is a pretty dumb way to annoy people.
BaggyGreen wrote: »Well that's great. People taking massively overpowered characters through the content and saying, "Well gosh, I found it easy..." when if they read the thread, they'd see the difference between what they're doing, and what I'm trying to do.
Again, the game scales, and the game should allow anyone who's made a new character for that chapter - as you'd expect many people to have done, given there's a new class and all - to get through the content. I'm inclined to believe the playtester, earlier in this thread, who noted bugs enter into that boss fight during one of the updates to the chapter, pre-release.
It scales, but it shouldnt scale so much that you can be lvl one and be fine without trying.
I did it from lvl 1, no cp allocated, using only stuff I found on the way. Was challenging at points, but satisfying. Its totally doable, any easier and I would have once again fallen asleep and not done the content, just like the previous expansions.
