Ember's Intuition perk seems more like a loss than a gain.

Since this thread came back around again, I'd just like to point out that ZOS addressed Sharp-as-Night's perk in another thread. They clarified that the increased chance to get a trophy fish comes from reducing the chance to get alternate bait (minnow, chub, shad, fish roe), and does not affect your chance of getting a regular fish to filet. So for those concerned that having his perk unlocked will make it harder to get Perfect Roe chances, it looks like it should not.

i did a bit of pickpocketing last night and got a wallet on the third pick. a fourth pickpocket was available and the chance of success did not diminish.

But that's the problem: You have to take a chance again.

What the perk should do is add a wallet to the loot with a successful pickpocket, not replace an item, so you loot the item and the wallet at the same time. Why it doesn't do this is beyond me.

I don't know about anyone else but my dedicated pickpocket character routinely fails easy attempts, as if the percentage shown does not matter. With the perk I have to wait to roll the dice again and there's a good chance I fail, even with a character with max chance of success. It's so maddening to know that instead of that lousy wallet I would have gotten the loot and now I have to roll the dice again.

The perk makes the whole process of getting to that final loot take extra time and forces an extra chance to fail which makes it take even more time. It's a net loss all around for a measly extra 100 or so gold.

last night i got a wallet from a fisher, 1500 this time, is your dedicated not 17+ leg?(most wallets still 100-200) her perk adds a 4th attempt, so the easy range of npcs to nab from are 100% chance in green(90% low at 17), and is still better than either the white, green or non-treasure, the extra lockpicks are always nice when heading to hunt chests with mirri:)(whos perk treasure also has a chance to be gold, havent extensively tested to see the high gold range)

I don't bother pickpocketing fishermen, peasants etc. anymore with my dedicated pickpocket unless I'm looking for something specific they drop.

Normally I get around 180 gold from the wallets, tonight I got one with 2500 gold in it. Mirri and Isobel bags have an extremely rare chance at a 1500 gold treasure, but straight up 2500 gold bag is the winner.

Exactly this! I don't pickpocket to get gold at all, if I do it, then to get furnishing items, furnishing plans or style pages that only drop from pickpocketing. Getting a wallet is just a time loss then.
Since she isn't level 20 yet, it wasn't a big problem, I dismissed her for pickpocketing and all was good. Now she's at level 19 and I definitely don't want her to go up, so the only option left now is to not use her at all anymore.
