Necrom Plaguebreak changes.

I know myself and many others are very disappointed with the first iteration of the Plaguebreak nerfs. I really hope that something can be done to still make it atleast usable in PvE without being able to delete bosses. One of the most fun sets in the game and I loved running around with it. I really don't want it to become useless in PvE.

Yeah I really enjoy it. What's ironic is, my PB character actually does more damage in almost all situations with a different set. It's just less fun. Welcome to ESO, play the way you want as long as it's the way we want you to play.

It shouldn't proc on death at all in a first place as it was intended.

I would love if they made the plague-infected dot appliable to all targets like it is on live, but it lasts 20 seconds now and can ONLY be removed from purges rather than death

That would render the set useless in pve, which is what the op is talking about. Many pve players enjoy this set to run content.

Why not, death kinda removes the infection doesn't it?

    The description reads:
"If the plague is removed early it explodes and deals 735 Disease Damage to all enemies within 8 meters of the carrier, increasing by 50% per enemy hit. This effect can occur once every 20 seconds per target, once per attack, and scales off the higher of your Weapon or Spell Damage."

If they changed it to be:
"If the plague is removed early THROUGH PURGE/CLEANSE it explodes and deals 735 Disease Damage to all enemies within 8 meters of the carrier, increasing by 50% per enemy hit. This effect can occur once every 20 seconds per target, once per attack, and scales off the higher of your Weapon or Spell Damage."

Then we would know their true intentions and not have bothered using it in PvE.

I hope the developers reconsider this brutal nerf to the plaguebreak set. Clearly it needs some changes so that it can't be used to wipe out huge groups of PvE enemies, but just making it useless in PvE seems a real shame, it's a fun set, and among a sea of underwhelming and useless sets it seems better to me to balance the set than just give up on it.

It was also mentioned that it is being abused in PvP, regarding drawing adds towards enemy players and then getting high damage, well I think the lightning HA users abusing the tri focus passive is much more prevalent and needs to be addressed, unless I missed this being mentioned recently, I think it's still a problem isn't it?

You guys are looking at this as a "nerf", it's not. It's a complete change from X to Y.

    View it this way:
You invest in buying stocks in a company that manifactures cars. This company suddenly change the direction to manifacture houses in stead of cars - you know that this is bad. You wouldnt have invested in the company from the beginning if you knew they were making houses.

So the way I see it its a complete FU to everybody that invested "TIME" into grind for this set in one way or another. The item has existed for too long to go and change it from X to Y now.

If devs get a mild butt-hurt from people having fun with the set then "nerf" it by actually reducing it's performance in line with what a nerf is. NOT by making it useless for 50% of the game - if you see this game as PVE and PVP.

Plaguebreak in PVE really lowered my time to kill annoying trash packs. Plaguebreak in PVP, using NPCs as bombs, helped me at least have a chance at killing a DK in Mara's. Now both of those aspects of the set are gone. I had golded out the set as it seemed to survive a patch or two, so I thought it was stable. Now, well, I am really disappointed. What is the next best way to clear out trash? Rush of agony?

Works in trials but bad in dungeons and overland since trash won’t last long enough.

I never understand why they do not make use of switches like "NPC" and "Monsters" or therelike, more often.

If they do not want PB to kill zergs in PvP then add "... removed early from NPCs" or just add "This set bonus does not apply to PvP environments" or whatever. Can't be that hard to add a line of code like "IF PvP zone THEN do nothing".

It's the other way around. They don't want plague to kill mobs in PVE because you can do huge dmg instantly with it
The set in general has been insane OP for far too long but I agree it's actually fun in PVE for grinding mobs will be a shame when they remove this.

I felt like plaguebreak WAS balanced in PvE... It's almost useless against bosses but made it a little faster going to said bosses in dungeons, etc.

Could just have changed it to "this effect only applies to players in Cyrodiil" and be fine however I think the nerf is the same reasoning behind the occult overload nerf... They just don't want you clearing trash mobs that fast. There's a game dev statistic about time in-game and your chances of doing micro transactions, what the likelihood per hour changes to the longer you're in-game. The longer you deal with trash by that statistic the more likely you are to buy stuff... If you just logged in and sped through pledges in less than an hour that chance of you spending money on the crown store is really low...

thats how it worked when plague released, it did not proc on death, but at that time of release purge spam in pvp was still a thing, so it was still useful

in pve then it was virtually useless, because it only applied the weak dot, but since npcs couldnt purge it was not useful

when they changed it to have the explode work on death is when the set became actually much more fun to use

personally while this change will make it useless in pve, its still going to be useful in pvp, so i dont really have intention of changing my use on my pvp toon

i have another toon using it i will likely adjust his build, cause it was more of a meme build mostly used for pve anyway

Make the dangerous foes immune, cap dmg Cascading to some amount, add some other cooldown, limit monster explosion to 5.

There are many options. Don't remove the set from pve it is the fun set...

Rush of Agony damage doesn't scale with the number of enemies like Plaguebreak and Dark Convergence do. If you're trying to bomb trash packs in PvE DC will be your only option for exponential damage. Rush is a decent direct damage AOE, but you're better off using something like Azureblight Reaper that will cause each enemy to do damage to other enemies.

This is a huge disappointment for me, completely removing it from PvE environments was not the right thing to do. Plaguebreak for me was a quality of life set which we need more of, just add a monster cap if you dont want players blowing up dungeons (even thou that is a very fun style of play, something ESO seems to never want, fun styles of play).

And then you think about the gold mats you spent on upgrading the gear and think to yourself why bother, sad PTS week. Hopefully its adjusted to something more suitable for PvE and not just switched off.

    On the contrary:

The patch notes for Deadlands make it very clear that the set should "properly" fire off on death. It was bugged at release, not the other way around.

It's "properly" fire after an entire patch of wrong work and instead of fixing it they throws "properly". The entire description talks about purging and no a single word about trigger on death

If the set had come to the game as "only affects players" that would be fine (Like the Vicious Death set), but removing the effect completely after a long time is very bad, I bought the set that was expensive, because I hate PvP (problems with generalized anxiety), to more efficiently farm XP from monsters, ZoS didn't even want to modify anything in the set for PvE... It just removed it... Well, I'm never buying any sets from PvP content again...

Please rethink this. Make it capped at 10-20. Something besides making it into another set no one will ever wear.

What harm comes from the few who blow up a whole dungeon? They probably already have max level. It’s just a meme. This set is fun [snip]
