Negative rapport on all the companions is annoying. One of the new ones doesn’t approve of me harvesting mushroom alchemy ingredients — am I seriously going to dismiss him just because I see a mushroom?? Sorry, dude, but I’d rather have all my alchemy mats than you!

Considering they drastically lowered the amount of rapport needed to level up their rapport, I don't think a -1 is anything to complain about anymore.

As mentioned before, it is not zone specific and there is about an hour cooldown. So ANY zone traveled to with Sharp active will get the rapport, and if you are logged out, when you log back in after cooldown you should get a +5 rapport no matter what zone you're in.

I certainly hope some websites such as @Alcast will update their outdated rapport lists for both Sharp and Azandar. Currently it's not providing accurate information.

I really think the +1 rapport cooldowns are too long. For his rapport gain on harvesting alchemy nodes, it's also about an hour. I could see that long for a +5, but not for a simple +1. I think 15/m would be more fair. I mean, even Bastian's rapport gain for killing cultists is like 5/m... I can usually get one with each dolmen as long as I got there fast enough to kill one of the spawning cultists.

even if those sources had 0 cooldown, it would still be just more efficient to only do the +125 rapport dailies lol

when you are talking about needing 1000s of rapport (its like 5500 rapport or so to get from "base" to "max"), the +1s, +5s, and even +10s are almost negligble, especially with these horrendous "cooldowns" on the gain

at the current cooldowns on rapport sources, doing 1 single +125 rapport daily can basically almost outstrip all other possible rapport sources in a 24 hour period even if you triggered them on cooldown

That's great if you are intentionally trying to raise their rapport, but if you're just playing the game and not focusing on leveling their rapport, the minor gains should trigger more frequently for people that play that way.

completely agree with that, to at least make the rapport gains relevant

i generally ignore all "small value" + or - gains in rapport due to the fact they are incredibly low and have long cooldowns

pretty much just do the 2 daily for huge rapport gains and thats it, any additional rapport i barely even notice because its like 10% of what i gained doing 2 dailies
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

+5 rapport for having an active food buff (1 hour cooldown?)

This same rapport gain seems to be causing the confusion surrounding traveling with Sharp. There is no rapport gain for traveling to new zones, and you don't get the rapport gain after the cooldown if you remain in the same zone. However, once the cooldown has ended, if you travel to a different zone (or log in) while still with a food buff, you will then see the +5 rapport

Well, considering it's only a -1 and seems to have a fairly long cooldown, I don't think it's a big deal. Not like we're constantly swapping our companion outfits regularly.

I think there are two different rapports at work here. Yes he does give rapport for food, although I've seen it when I actually CONSUME food. However, logging in this morning I did NOT have a food buff active, and got +5 rapport, which tells me it is a zone rapport. Second, I spent over an hour grinding a public dungeon, when I exited I got another +5 rapport, which tells me, again, it's zone rapport.

Sounds like you might have the food buff bug. I am suspicious that this rapport bonus is was created the food bug in the first place.

It would be nice if @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_Kevin could answer the question since we cannot seem to find a reliable answer. Does Sharp give rapport for zones or is it for the food buff, or are we missing something else?? Because many of us get rapport from him when we log in an he is summoned, or we change zones, while others say they don't receive it. So it's very confusing and there is a lot of misinformation out there because of it.

I wasn't getting any rapport from eating food, but Sharp would comment on it. I pretty much always have a food buff up, so I'm tempted to say that it is from eating food, particularly given that he doesn't comment on changing zones, and companions usually say something when their rapport increases.

Sharp never says anything when I log in, and I still get the log-in Rapport from him. Just because 'usually' doesn't mean they haven't changed things this time around. I think he comments on the food, but doesn't always give rapport because the cooldown (whatever it is) hasn't run out. I get the same thing with harvesting alchemy. He comments all the time, but only once per hour do I get the rapport gain from it.

I'm reporting back that when I took Sharp to Shadowfen there was no rapport change but he complained about being there and said he wanted to leave as quickly as possible.
No rapport change from visiting any of the other places listed either.

I think this needs to be tested further. The main list states:

    +4 - visiting blackwood (leyawiin)
    +4 - visiting shadowfen
    +4 - visiting Hew's Bane

So it really needs to be tested to see if your experience matches what's listed.

So far I get nothing from all three of those.

Just to add, I'm pretty sure I gained rapport when collecting the mailed gold from a guild trader sale, I can't think what else it could have been at the time as I was just stood about in Rawlkha. I haven't had any further guild trader sales since so I can't confirm, but perhaps someone else could test it and confirm / deny?

Edit: on reflection, it was probably the mystery rapport that's something to do with logging in with an active food buff, I logged in and went straight into the menu to check mail, and the rapport appeared as I left the menu.

He also seems to like it when you drink tea

I do not know if it is just consuming food in general, as there seems to be an inconstancy with that, and I haven't thoroughly tested what does what, but drinking Green Scourgut Tea gives me rapport on occasion

I figured that you gain rapport if you ran out of a food buff and then drank (eat I cannot verify) something.

Also travelling gains rapport as was stated before, but only to non-city places. I even got one when I entered the harborage with him. In cities tells you to watch your pockets or to be done with business fast and go back to exploring soon. And even hideouts seem to count as exploring in his understanding, since I got +rapport by entering the den in Northern Elsweyr.

Charging and repairing gear I can confirm as well. Also killing bosses for achievements. Ghosts and automations same, coming with a cooldown.

And (he even hints you about it) crafting poison gives +rapport (5?), also with cooldown. With that, him being a mercenary of sorts and his general attitude, did someone figure how he reacts to DB quests, murder or sacraments? Does he even care about the DB? Would be nice to know.

While I can understand a bit the frustration regarding throwing away things (he had to dislike something at a point I assume), I don't see the issue with him not liking the outfitting table. It totally fits to his character being a loner and survivalist. From his perspective putting some fancy clothes on him instead only leaving him waiting while you are dressing up should get even more rapport decrease :D

Besides, he even says "You always look fine to me". That sentence is fully worth the -1 rapport to me.

All in all, I find his rapports and reactions fully immersive. The one with Maiq is even something I am looking forward to! So from RPG point of view I really hope they don't change any of it. And if you just want to max out rapport for the buff and the achievement, it was already said that you do better with dailies. I guess, even farming bosses does you better than farming alchemy mats and catching fish.

Though I have to admit, that since he entered play I started fishing for the achievement. Before, it was just boring. With him, it feels like a real fishing trip with a friend since he is doing a lot's of cool comments.

In general, his comments are great. "Better luck next time! Oh, wait..." is my personal favorite! :D
(Going offtopic, I know. Will stop at that)
