Are you on PC and already use an Addon to do this? Well get ready for this:

Yes, on PC, and I read that as if you want to fillet one at a time, it still works that way. I used the addon until I got all the fish from 4 Master Anglers done, and then removed it.

This makes me happy - fishing will be fun again because the filleting won't be such agony.

You need to go to a Provisioning station or use the slow old way if you want to do it on the fly, pretty meh in my eyes.

Awesome. Needing to visit a provisioning station isn't ideal but it's a vast improvement over the current system.

I've never done it on the fly. I saved up all the fish on each account until I was done, and then I took a weekend to fillet them all one at a time with the addon. I'm at a provisioning station every day on multiple characters on every account so it's really great for me.

Daily provisioning writ, then fillet whatever fish is on whoever.

Each to her own. As I said I'm at a provisioning station ever day anyway. Hmm. Stuff I can't remember: do fish go in the craft bag? I don't remember how I stockpiled them until I was done with all the Master Anglers. If craft bag or bank, I wonder if the provisioning station fillet option will pull from bag or bank, or if it's a case where it will have to be in normal inventory. No - that couldn't work, because then they'd be fileted one at a time....

    Well, I'll find out eventually!

Exactly, having to visit a provisioning station might not be the most ideal solution from the players' perspective, but it also isn't going to be a big deal in my opinion. I mean, it's obvious that players who fillet multiple stacks of fish at a time are saving those up, anyway, rather than filleting them on the fly after each fishing hole, so how much trouble is it, really, for them to go to a provisioning station to do it?

Also-- and you can mark my words on this-- I predict that we'll probably (finally) soon be getting a provisioning assistant in the Crown Store, so we can make food and drink (and fillet multiple stacks of fish) on the fly while we're out and about, instead of having to hope that we happen to run across a cooking fire in the wilderness, or in a delve, or in a dungeon. I mean, maybe we won't, but a person can still hope, right? Or maybe (shudder) ZOS will finally give us a provisioning assistant but will leave out the filleting option, so we'll still need to go visit a provisioning station in a hub city to help keep those places hopping? Except, if the filleting option will be available at provisioning stations that we can buy and place in our homes, then it shouldn't be a big deal to include it on a provisioning assistant, either.

Probably no more than bulk refining raw materials at crafting stations affects the chance of dreugh wax, rosin or tempering alloy dropping. There was a time when we also had to do that one at a time as well.

I'm not 100% convinced you get as many as if you did them individually, but that could just be the old man in me not trusting everything.

Good question. I was thinking that myself. Considering the apparently much reduced drop rate.... it could go either way?

@tmbrinks can almost certainly answer this definitively.

Most every camp fire or fireplace in the game is a Provisioning station. Not hard to find one.

The game calculates the drop rate of materials from refining one at a time (it just does 10, 100, 1000 calculations each time you press the button).

Save yourself time, refine all at once.

I'm sure filleting will work the same way.

And I'm sure we'll get the same anecdote only statements saying otherwise :joy:
Tenacious Dreamer - Hurricane Herald - Godslayer - Dawnbringer - Gryphon Heart - Tick Tock Tormenter - Immortal Redeemer - Dro-m'Athra Destroyer
The Unchained - Oathsworn - Bedlam's Disciple - Temporal Tempest - Curator's Champion - Fist of Tava - Invader's Bane - Land, Air, and Sea Supremacy - Zero Regrets - Battlespire's Best - Bastion Breaker - Ardent Bibliophile - Subterranean Smasher - Bane of Thorns - True Genius - In Defiance of Death - No Rest for the Wicked - Nature's Wrath - Undying Endurance - Relentless Raider - Depths Defier - Apex Predator - Pure Lunacy - Mountain God - Leave No Bone Unbroken - CoS/RoM/BF/FH Challenger

I am not on PC but filleting fish after a session was very annoying. It was stacked enough to be an issue.

Regardless of addons presence, having the option as a base game feature is nice especially for console users. Even better since there's a companion now that influences fishing.

Very welcome QoL improvement. It's always a good thing to be able to retire an addon and have one less in the loading list.

If it works like refining mats it's also much faster than the addon, which still fillets fish one by one, just automating the whole process. So you can't do anything for a couple of minutes when the addon goes trough a full stack of fish.

What does this companion do to help with fish? I’d rather the actual fish not gunny sacks or furniture fish

Looking forward to this. If it's using a provisioning station, does that mean it will work with banked fish? Would be nice to stick everything from any character straight in the bank and fillet all at once without faffing around

    from the patch notes
Sharp provides “Sharp’s Patience” which offers an improved chance at finding trophy fish and slightly reducing reel time.

This makes me happy, even though I don't fish as much now. But for the first couple of years I played ESO, I didn't realize I had to filet the fish. By the time I got it, I had hundreds of fish in my inventory and yes, I did it one by one over about a month, doing 10-20 every day.

I'm feeling encouraged by the QoL improvements coming in Necrom. Gives me hope that Q3 will bring more that actually make a difference.

Hmm, will wait for Sharp to get Master Angler. I'll never fish for Roe again as there are much better ways of making gold, so, don't care about the filleting change.
