Contrary to some ideas in this thread, the devs actually want you kill the adds, not a dominoe effect where you flick one finger and the whole thing falls down.

I used wax and tempers to make two sets of this for convenience. I bought gold jewelry, as well as earning gold campaign ones. Transmuted or reconstructed the majority of it all for bis.

I'm glad it's being changed like this, because I saw the sets intention when it came out. I admit it was hilariously easy to level in a place like skyreach.
When vicious death came out, any pve asking for it to work there knew they were asking for an OP tool. Brand new players will now not be infected with a PB crutch, and will learn how we all learned.

    Awesome…..
So, the golden jewellery that I invested time and effort into reconstructing are now obsolete for a Niche roll that I used to fill in select trials are rendered absolutely worthless as I don’t PVP. @ZOS_Kevin are you guys even thinking about what this entails for the majority of players who’ve invested resources into this, because I don’t think you have.
Not one of us players will be reimbursed the gold platings for the plaguebreak gear we upgraded.
Doesn’t matter if someone spent gold, or days farming mats. It’s still a kick in the guts to a decent number of players………. You claim it’s for “balance”, I just see it as lazy, and kicking players while they’re down.

I may get some flack for not trying to figure this out myself but being an older gentleman i am not good at figuring out how all these sets work in connection with one another. Therefore might someone recommend a replacement for this set. I have enjoyed using it for awhile now and use it with Dark Convergence since i am not bright enough to use two bars!!! Thanks in advance.

Balance would entail making a set a reasonable option..... effective, but not overpowered. What's happening is not balance. It's straight up set (and investment) deletion for PvE players.

Not a single word about this from anyone, nothing in the PTS Patch Notes, absolutely nada. Is this how you react to feedback that you where asking for in the first place? Weeks of total silence? Like "Screw them" and wait till they stop talking about it?

It gets more frustrating every day. I had high hopes for the new update but that's a huge shadow laying itself over it. Well, thanks for ignoring us then. Not cool.

The precedent this sets is also concerning going forward.

Will this heavy handed method of basically deleting the set from part of the game be used to "balance" more [arguably] overperforming sets in the future? It's a lazy solution.

Toning down the set while allowing it to still be usable in PvE is not an insurmountable problem.

So annoying. Dark conversion plague break was superb for trash pulls. Then they nerfed dc. Now they nerf plague break.

As above, such a lazy nerf. If its infecting pets and that's causing a problem then, err, stop it infecting pets.

Heck, stop it working in boss pulls, 90% of the time it's useless in boss fights anyway.

Plaguebreak was overperforming? LOL. News to me.

And I'm sorry, but if you have pets in PVP, since they can take damage for you (courtesy of the awesome targeting system), you should be able to infect them with Plaguebreak.

Yes it's curious why ZOS has chosen (by their own admission) to protect pet users in this manner. Lots of folks (myself included) use pets in PvP as blockers, to take that Meteor or Leap that was intended for me. Some sets (like Hrothgar's Chill) add pet resistances to your own, effectively increasing the damage taken. So why they are making an exception and making pets immune to targeting in this case is rather perplexing.

Probably because, it was less likely that the pet user was the one impacted by exploding pets. As they were likely further back from the groups with their pets in the fray alongside allies.

In my opinion, if someone chooses to stand by someone's pet (or some low HP or low resist player) and gets blown up.... that's on them. PvPers should be aware of the risks of stacking, and position themselves accordingly.

Nerfing a set because someone doesn't want to learn to play effectively seems rather odd. I would imagine that the motivation leans more towards the other stated reason: They don't like seeing their content trivialized.

They don't like seeing their content trivialised? IR OakenSorc is waving frantically over there...

Also possible WITHOUT Plaguebreak, so where do you draw the line?

Do you know why no one is answering you? It's because nobody wants to list their remaining go-to sets.... because they will go right to the top of the list as the next to be "balanced."

I recommend watching some YouTube videos or asking in a busy zone in-game. Many players like to describe their builds there.

I'm shocked about this decision and mad like the others :#
One of the best eso sets available for PvE, a huge fun from playing solo.
Currently my main pve bomber on stamplar (Plaguebreak, Venom and Sellistrix), giving me most incentives to log into game on a daily basis and weekends.

So what that it can bomb the mobs in 2-3 seconds. Or can solo a group dungeon by grouping lesser mobs around boss. It's part of the game and mechanics ZOS purposely implemented and knew from the beggining. Now, to damage the builds they named creative and funny, I can only think of creators as kind of vicious people willing to make us for a fools. We spent millions of gold to buy the armors, only to find them useless after few months, because new content arrives.

I remember when they nerfed CP Occult Overload, that decreased overall Plague bomb damage, but set was still okay and I really hoped they will stop here.

It seems I subscribed just in time to complete farming Oakensoul and other mythic items, will change for a 1 bar lightning staff build and forget about class abilities. Skills on which they wasted so much money creating and balancing for years.

Pshaw!...if plaguebreak will be destroyed by Necrom, I will not buy the chapter for sure. A concious customer knows when he is robbed and usually in return adapts in a manner the cheapest possible for his wallet.

If only they'd make it useless in PVP too, I might start going back into Cyrodiil.

Why not just substitute whatever you use to make that possible without plagebreak? If it's truly no different, there's no problem then?

I drew the line at release, realized it was due to get nerfed, and my mats were at risk going into pb items.

This is yet another ridiculous overnerf. Whenever something works effectively and you’ve golded a build in it, along comes ZOS to make your investment utterly worthless.

    It’s infuriating and wrong.

Because Plaguebreak was fun, and that's the point of playing a game right? I've already swapped to another set, yes, it's as effective but I'll miss the satisfying pop when they all blow up

I guess that we should not be suprised that Zos has not responded. As usual they figure that after awhile people will forget and it will no longer be an issue. Guess it fits with the way the world works.... but to me...it is beyond frustrating and a very poor way to deal with the people that care about this game.
A simple yes we are looking into it or simply we have heard your comments but are not going to change it back would be nice. [snip]

Unfortunate that they can't simply reduce the power of the set in PvE, rather than taking the baby with the bathwater approach. Why make it completely useless for the majority of the players? After years of it not being a problem?
