I was wondering about this. They gave me more of the same old crap in the good box.

Need 10 with 6 days left??

I would like the event costume. And no, I’m not spending crowns on tickets.
    Of course I like steak. I'm a Nord, aren't I?

I don't have a lot of data because I don't have a gazillion accounts but here is what I have collected so far. 12 fragments, 6 buckets, 2 brooms. Out of 31 accounts, that was day 1 data.

Speak for yourself. When I saw this on PTS, I knew I had to have it.

Yeah, I totally overpaid for fragments yesterday, but I've got my tickets rationed and I've been playing long enough that I can afford the gold cost. And I love it. I may even have grinded the heck out of BGs the last CTR weekend for the sole purpose of getting that dye for it.

I asked Kevin for clarification, but that was hours ago. Since there is no communication to show otherwise, this means ZoS wants more ticket purchases from the crown store. This is severely disappointing as we hit this new low.

I truly hope this was an oversight, because it is so hard to believe, but the radio silence speaks volumes.

It's not an oversight. It was discussed and deliberately implemented.

Yeah, discussing with guildies in Discord turns out this was know since the PTS.

Is not a mistake, is by design.

I guess 'you might get the goods next year, maybe' is where we are in our business relationship with ZOS

@ZOS_Kevin made it clear in there that they're 100% aware of the fact its virtually impossible to get the costume from playing the event but that they might make it easier to attain next year.

    They knew this last week.

It doesn't really bother me tbh. I'll just sell whatever fragments I get this year. It's just a costume.

But what happens when it is something you care about?

They want you to spend money to buy event tickets. The majority of the timing of these items, the crates, the day countdowns, - they are trying to engineer a sense of 'I must have that' and 'I don't want to miss out' and want you to spend money on crowns, for crates, and for tickets.

To be fair, at 3 tickets earned per day, and the frequency of thr drop, you can reasonably obtain it by using in game earned event tickets to get most of the fragments you need, and supplement the rest with event drops. You shouldn't need to resort to crown store. Outside of the dragon costume the only items at the event vendor that are specifically for this event are the broom and bucket. Everything else will carry over to the anniversary event.

So I would focus on fragments first, then broom and bucket, then the quarterly event items.

I still don't like how they did this thing and they have my feedback. But this is the best way other than having multiple accounts per server to work with what we have got.

That's downright ridiculous and only serves to reinforce my opinion that "events" in this game are all just rubbish. They're not even trying to hide the fact that the events are not run for the fans, but as a short term cash grab. That's going to be a hard pass for me. I'll just go find a different game to play that is actually fun.

Just for grins and giggles I check EVERY SINGLE TRADER on Xbox/NA and there was a whopping 6 fragments available on guild traders with the least expensive being 100K and the most expensive being 150K. That's 6 fragments for sale on the entire server. At the current drop rate and with the limited number of chances get fragments, I suspect that a very small number of players will complete the costume. I guess if I get any fragments they will just have to be as useless as the Murkmire Grave Stake memento that I've never been able to complete.

What baffles me is that one doesn't need to be a genius or a precognitive Jedi to conclude players would hate the way this event is set. Knowing how few people actually read the announcements on the site, I wonder how many people are aware they're not getting fragments or style pages from purple boxes. I expected players to be complaining about this in the game, but saw nothing.

When I started playing ESO at the end of 2019, event boxes used to drop enough style pages and collectible fragments that it was possible to complete them without spending tickets and even help a friend who couldn't play to get their own set of prizes. Over the years it got so bad that we can't even work for our own collection. The first egregious grind that I can recall was Ebonsteel style added as Imperial City district boss drops. This is what marks the beginning of decline in my memory.

Why is ZOS implementing a drop strategy that encourages players to spend IRL money somehow nefarious to some people? At no time did anyone promise that we could get everything we want out of this game without spending any money beyond the initial game purchase. If you just have to have it now and can't wait, then buy it, or learn to adjust what you "need" within your spending budget.

For-profit companies exist to make money. That's what they do. In that sense it isn't surprising that a company would offer things for sale, whether required or optional, even in a game. Fair enough.

The problems, imo, arise when companies constantly push the boundaries of how much pressure they can put on people to pay more for less. Less content, less quality, whatever it is that saves resources in the end.

It is especially problematic in an industry where the service provided is nominally entertainment. It is hard to have fun (ostensibly the primary point of a game) when there is increasing pressure to spend ever more time and money on it. Some of us would be very happy to support a game that provides entertainment as a priority and offers (but does not pressure us into) optional purchases. The more pressure to spend more time and more money, the less fun it becomes. That's my primary concern with the ever-increasing forms of monetization (direct and indirect) that I'm seeing in games in general, and in this one in particular. At the same time, the quality of the product and service seems to be decreasing. It seems like every update now that something crucial to the function of the game has been impaired significantly. It’s been six months at least since we had a fully functional block alone. I don't remember a release without a major bug (if not several) in the past few years. Many major bugs are fixed - some in weeks; others in months. Some recur, even multiple times, across a wide variety of in-game activities (combat, housing, cosmetics, guild management, etc.). Gamepad mode continues to be an afterthought and to suffer from baseless inequalities compared to keyboard mode. Yet the pressure to buy more things *and* to spend more time (especially when that used to be *or*) continues to increase while the quality of basic game functions decreases.

I don't mind when companies seek to make money in exchange for quality products and services. I mind when the money making attempts increase while the quality of those products and services suffers. That is not a trend that I want to see continue in this or any other industry.

Different people have different boundaries. If you are not bothered by this, I am happy for you. I will not tell you you should be bothered. I hope you do have fun here! By the same token, try to understand that there are legitimate reasons for others to feel that this is not a direction we want the game to continue in, and that it is ok to feel that way too.

The event rewards have never been good and always favored the crown store. Just because you could get all/most things during an event doesn't make it any better.

I have been saying the event reward/quest system is terrible since the very first event I played and was in shock more players weren't demanding something better. At least they eventually moved away from the ridiculous re-color of Indricks for years.

Anyone who has ever played any other MMO would know just how paltry ESO events are. They are more in line with most other games' surprise weekend events, not big planned holiday events. The fact that a very minor change has made so many people upset shows just how little you were getting to begin with.

While I do enjoy ESO events because of how many people participate especially when they encourage activities like pvp, dungeons, dailies, etc. The repetitive nature for almost no real rewards gets boring after the first couple of days. I can only imagine the large RPG player base just excepts this because it's all they've known.

After running 60 accts thru on day 1 for the gold box only I did see a lot of fragments and broom/bucket style pages.
I was able to give away some in Zone.
People like Wolfie myself and many others choose to put that many accts on. Your average ESO player shouldn't have to, to get pretty ordinary rewards out of a scheduled event.
I understand Zos need to make money but irritating the general player base during what is suppose to be a festive event to leech every last drop certainly shows the disdain they think of everyone.

The last 2 fragments of the morph will be available during the next event, so I'm prioritizing the things that are only available during this event.

I immediately bought 1 minstrel cloth to ensure I can get 10 by the end of the event, then I'm buying more as needed based on how many I get in the golden coffers each day. So far, I've gotten 2 from the golden coffers, so I've bought 2 with tickets.

Hopefully I'll get the broom and bucket in the golden coffers, but if not then I'll buy them with either tickets or gold.

I maybor may not buy any of the other fragments, depending on how it's looking toward the end of the event.

I expect the broom and bucket to be pretty cheap in guild stores at the end of event so do not buy them with tickets.
More so as people with multiple accounts will use them to farm the cloth fragments. They sell for 250 K now on PC-EU so even if you don't bother with the costume it will be very fast money.

Games (and also movies) are not primarily about entertainment anymore. They have transformed more and more into investment products. The best investment is the one with the lowest risk and the biggest rewards. This also explains the general lack of innovation, as innovation = risk.
It is not about how much people will hate something, it is about finding and manipulating the fine line where the cow gives the maximum amount of milk, but doesn't start bleeding yet.
So when considering that nowadays most of the game development happens in the ethics immunized space of financial investments, the financial success of games like fortnite and basically the whole mobile gaming sector proves them right.

i saw the prices on pc EU yesterday and was getting prices ranging from 260-400k thats what had sold. so i guess will be some at 1 mill each for the fragments. I think this shows a very bad example of the game for new players who will not have the in game gold to buy fragments no chance to get it apart from buy tickets and at uk prices you would have to at least buy 8500 crowns to get it costing about £48 . this to me show an extremely bad example and could very easily think this is the way they will be treated in this game. to me this is the worst event and will not be wasting my time apart from the one quest for the event tickets. I think but not sure that after this event you cannot get the personality apart from end of the year so will need to get two fragments during this event as there has only been one event this year. i was ill for a lot of that so only got one fragment and pet from that event and one ticket. If i read it correctly the anniversary is the start of the next fragments for the next year quarter. i know the mid year got postponed but surely what is happening here is obvious and the simplest thing would have been another week of this event to start earlier. i think that would have been a simpler idea than it will be in the last years boxes next year which again will still be rng and make you grind for the shards or save them up now for next year as you will need them for that rng next year. this is now becoming just a double xp week and forget the event as has very little you can actually get or that is how i see it now and am extremely disappointed if this is the direction events are going in.

That small sample size doesn't really allow for such confident conclusions.
But even if it would, 1 day on 5 accounts is like 5 days on 1 account. So for a player with only one account it should take over 12 days, according to the example above.
For the statistics, i'm on day three on one account and got one scrap of minstrel's cloth.
I don't even want that costume as i think it doesn't fit to the game.
Though obviously some really want it, but also don't like to be forced to jump through ridiculous hoops or spend additional money to get an event item. There is no need to sugarcoat this.

And you don't have to buy tickets as you can just wait for the next year (as I just picked up some of last years style pages I was missing do to me selling them for gobbs of gold) or buy them for I've seen 30k each. I'm sure to have extra but I need 20 of them.

then reality set in ... you only have a chance at the fragment from the gold jester box you get once a day for the 9 days of the event .. and according to the writeup:

New: Jester's Minstrel Daedroth Costume Fragment
In addition to the above, Stupendous Jester’s Festival Boxes also have a small chance to include the following items instead of a Costume Fragment.

    New: Bucket Style Page
    New: Broom Style Page
    A previously available style page

And I dunno how many "previously available style page"s there are .. so the chance of getting the fragments for free are pretty low. They aren't bound, so I assume any for sale in guild traders will be priced insanely ..

And I believe the bound fragments are 5 tix apiece at the Impresario .. so even if you save 12 max tix from last event, most event tix you could use during the event would be 39 tix so not enough to buy 10 fragments there either.

IMO "previously available style page"s should not be in the gold jester box but in the Impresario to improve the chance of getting the jester fragments.

Something like this shouldn't be nearly impossible to get during the event, or cost insane amounts of gold ..

At the very least, previously available style pages are in addition to, not instead of, the new ones:

    e81mtjyvx2jf.png

... That said... We have three people play, and across the three of us, we got two costume fragments so far, and ONE (!) pig fragment.

The pig issue was reported last year (got only two pieces across 3 accounts the whole event), and it's still here this year... And unlike these fragments, you can't buy it for tickets, either.

Honestly the only time I've used them for events now. I have five, one main and the other 4 largely store things for me, etc. Ran all 5 though one event daily for a gold box yesterday, two alt accounts got scraps and mailed to my main. Hopeful to get all 10 organically with this method, so we shall see. But that's a rather extreme way of trying to get this costume when it seems obvious we're being funneled towards buying tickets in the Crown Store now. Rather uncool and predatory.

10 accounts, also needed storage so i have a private guild only for the extra guild bank.

with 10 accounts you can have 10 guild banks...

With the fragments for this quarter's morph available during the anniversary event, as well as hide shoulders, the most effective route here is:

Bucket/Broom will likely drop from the golden box. If not, at least on xbox NA, you can get either for 30K gold in traders. I bought the broom day one for like 20K from a trader and then had one drop day two that I sold for 30K. Then dropped the bucket this morning.

Fragments for the costume may drop, I've had 1 so far. But they are the only other unique to this event reward. So, buying those with tickets over the morph fragments in the better approach. I bought 2 this morning, so I am at 3. I imagine at least one more will drop in the next six days, so I will buy them every time I get close to 10 tickets, and then on the last day, by the rest I need with my remaining tickets.

For the morph fragments, I will just buy those all during the anniversary event. Including the hide shoulders.
