After patch 37, I see no point in a necromancer.

Greet the people. Does anyone have any ideas how to play as a necromancer?? I no longer hope for changes in patch 37. And now players will complete the quest to kill 20 necromancers for 3 whole months))Who will complete it faster?) Challenge. I'm funny and sad.

I commented this in another thread, but what is necro supposed to do in pvp for damage now? It's the least played class right now, and it's considered a meme/clown by a large portion of the player base and streamers. Only class without an on-demand stun or source of major brutality built in the toolkit, no unique group buffs, major vulnerability is sourced through tanks and multiple sets now. It honestly feels worse to play than templar, at least they have an execute. The skeletal archer/arcanist damage is laughable in pvp, it's not even considered damage over time, so the rapid rot passive does nothing for it.. Devs said the intended scope of play for necromancers was not bombing, so what is it, and why did it take 3 years for the combat devs to say/decide necromancer shouldn't use harmony?

    Bash bot, probably.

Although I don't think one should honor this particular Dev's crusade against PvP Necromancers by making it work somehow.

In general, there are many ways to make the necromancer work, such as a bash build. But does it make sense to play exactly as a necromancer if you can repeat any build for a necromancer on any class and in most cases it is a little better.

The necromancer has no identity of his own and has too many skills that don't work, or they don't synergize with each other. Very expensive ultimates. I have created many different builds based on harmony. Some sets were also enhanced by harmony. I was disappointed that the developers felt that bomb builds for the necromancer should not exist. How is that?? The class is intended for mass pvp and should not deal AoE damage and kill crowds of enemies. Well agree. But give me something so that I could create other builds, but they didn’t give anything and the second patch will nerf the necromancer very hard.

I see sorcerers directly tearing up the forum that they are poor weak but they have not received any nerfs in the last two years. For that, the necromancer twice in a row, as if it was the strongest class in the game and absolutely everyone played it.

Sorcerers have been nerfed in the last two years lol.

I agree Necro needs love. They need a single target dot skill. Their summons need to actually do damage. I would also like to see the ultimates redesigned.

What they need is not a skill, but a complete overhaul of the class. Half of the skills are useless in pvp.

I think it's very telling how little engagement there is in any threads regarding the necromancer, no one plays it, no one fears it, no one thinks it's in a good place, no one comments on it because... no one cares about the ugly duckling that is necro.

    Yup.

I never bought the class so I've never played it. Don't have much to say about it. I believe once about 2 or 3 months ago in a BG class balance discussion I mentioned that even though there aren't many necros they are extremely effective.

But that was based on observations of dark convergence, Colossus, boneyard synergy type things.

Now? No, I don't know what the heck you folks are gonna do. Sorry 😐

If there was a class change token, I would swap to arcanist.

And here there is nothing to say. The class is so lackluster that it has too little fan base. Apart from build bombs, there are no interesting builds on this class.

I have built, and deleted, 4 necros ..... I intended for each one to be either DPS, or tank..... and every single one ended up being a healer, as that was the only place they could hold next to the other classes ..... and I deleted each one, because they became unsatisfying to play

I'm sure there'll be new builds made for both pve and pvp. People who truly love a class will make it work, and some will make it work even better than the meta.

I feel like the class has always been awkward, with some silly skills like throwing skulls and tombstones and not enough abilities like NPC necromancers. The class does alright as healer though and the Spirit Mender is cool.

necromancers in the current game make great support (tank/heals)

dps wise i agree they are not in a good spot, and most of their class skills are more focused on burst dmg, and yet they have a class passive that increases dot dmg (highly counterintuitive) and they dont have a lot of stuff that synergizes well for dmg

Major vulnerability and self synergy combined with harmony were selling points. What are the selling points now? Apart from heals, how do you convince someone to make a necro these days?

Please read the writing on the wall here. Look at Warden, then Necro, and tell me what you expect from Arcanist based on past results?

A nightblade is a burst class, a necromancer is a dot class with only 2 class dots. it's only burst ability is blastbones.

If there was a class change token, I would swap one of my necros to arcanist for sure. Instead I’ll have to recreate her in the new class.

I’ll only keep my necro healer and vampire necro assassin crimson-sets meme build.

What makes you think this is not the intended future state? Class change token, 14,000 crowns. Monetize FOTM, buffs and nerfs.

Regardless any time you can increase the pain enough for players to switch mains it increases the opportunity to sell more skill lines, skyshards, and other crown items.

I have a Sorc and Necro mains, and level 50 DK, Templar and NB. Even so, i would be tempted to get a class swap to a DK or NB just to get caught up on skill points, pvp levels, class lines, lorebooks, and so on rather than spending more hours on my existing DK doing that.

Necro was always a burst class. It had no usable dots, regardless of having a passive that increased dot damage.

Major vulnerability was the point of the class. Otherwise there was no reason play it or for raids to change their makeup and include the class. Even with a 30K HP ultimate and and automatic pulls, the class never topped DK in the tank role. Healing was good enough for 4 man, but meh for endgame.

Warden was the same way, major toughness and easy access to the major healing buff, for groups.

Could be eventually, but ZOS has said that there are technical difficulties and no plans to introduce this in the near future. I would never pay so much for it though. My point was more that I never really liked the necro class but made one to try to learn for PvP way back when stam necro seemed to be the meta, but I never learned to play it well anyway, so there’s the folly in that. :)
