Please, allow us to permanently disable Target Markers or, at least, give us a keybinding to immediately remove all Target Markers in one click. The Target Markers are turning into a plague. Those things appear everywhere even when we're not in any group. In some dungeons feels like it even appear automatically over the characters. We need to be constantly removing that trash from our UI, one by one, and after a while, a few pops up again.
We need an option to prevent other players to force those markers into our UI, and it would also be nice if we could use it without forcing it to other players.

I couldn't agree more. We need a way to disable this system all together so we never get markers put on us and can never see them on others or on our navigation bar.
Your group members may be assigning them.
They can unbind it.
For match-made groups, they may be doing it intentionally or unintentionally. This is an underlying issue for your complaint, holding tab brings it up on PC.
I don't think it's a good idea to systematically disable it due to PUG trials. If i'm telling people to hit the square first, then people who have it disabled will not know what I am talking about and won't switch to enable it mid-fight. It's simply a cosmetic marker that goes above a health bar.

if you disable the target markers from the settings, it does turn off all the target markers, outside of the compass (not sure if that is a bug that they still display on the compass even with them turned off)

I don't need to be marked by anyone, I have enough gems to rez myself for decades. And I don't want to see what others marked for any reason they did that -- it's their markers, not mine. I just want to completely disable this and keep my UI clean.

- Only usable when grouped with the other players you wish to mark, so that you can't mark others who are not in your group.
- An option in game to disable the markers so that you cannot see them (whether they are on you or other players.)
Marking other players in Cyro seems like cheating if it allows you to get around mechanics like stealth or using terrain features to seek cover. I have not tried it, though.

You can't rez yourself in a dungeon. They do need to mark you for their own vision. ETA: In general I don't think it's a good idea to allow teammate's settings to disable critical gameplay function for their teammates.

Yes, I know that. But aborting the action before placing a marker, would be helpful.
Let's say that the group leader marks an enemy with a certain symbol for the group to focus on.
Now, when tab-targeting that enemy, I accidentally press the key a split second too long, and I get into the marker wheel.
There is no way for me to not interfere with the intended marker. I can either remove it, or change it. In both cases, I'm messing with them. And that's badly designed.

There is nothing critical relating to game play about target markers. The game already puts little icons over players so they can be easily located.
We absolutely should have a way to completely and entirely shut off the target markers in every way. They're just a distraction and unneded junk for the servers to keep track of, especially in PvP.

I don't understand. I've always been able to rez other players without this target marker thing. I use gems to rez players, not markers. Also, that's not even the point. I have this target issue everywhere, even out of dungeons. Why are you focus on dungeons only? I want to disable it everywhere, not only on dungeons. I can rez myself out of dungeons. I don't need people putting targets on my character or more huge icons that I can't disable on compass. It should be optional, so you can use it and I don't.

You can take the marker off by assigning the same marker above your head to yourself (hold tab by default on PC).
If you are solo/without a group and markers are getting assigned to you at random, be sure to bug report it as that is not an intended game mechanic. I have seen it happen to me in solo PVP very rarely where a symbol appears above my head, it's not something i've bothered to report because I don't personally see it as a big deal, but if you stream or record you should record the instances of it appearing above your head and report it.
