It is not about chest found in the landscape but about chests found via treasure maps.
30 Maps + to get my drops... Most farmedSadly, this is a seriously awful implementation. It feels like ZOS doesn't want people to even have the skin. 9/10 leads were challenging but fair but the final lead is ridiculous. I have seen one Galen treasure map (I had no idea where I even got it) and of course it didn't produce the lead.
Does anyone know if this situation has this been looked at and reconsidered by ZOS or are we treading down the usual path of "ZOS - it is what it is and no change is planned" territory?
Cheers!

treasure maps have a lot of problems associated with them
- need to be much more common drops
- non-unique items so they can stack kind of like surveys
- almost guaranteed lead chances from them, not 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 chance, but closer to a 50-75% drop chance for leads

you're missing the most important thing that it needs:
*curated antiquity motif leads, for those maps that drop motifs. Will give you a lead for a motif you have not dug up, in preference to one that you have, until you have dug them all once and obtained the antiquity factoid entries, after which they're truly random
*the above curation should be based on knowing the antiquity factoid, which is not tradable and is account-wide: not on knowing the motif, which is tradable and is character-specific.
This is, of course, not necessary for the Galen skin parts, which are the main focus of this thread, both of which are one-and-done.
2+ mil spent on maps and it finally happened Can't say it was a fun experience though. Took a lot of fun out of the game tbh.
I am Groot....
The best of luck to everyone else trying to run down this lead. I hope Galen maps rain down on you all for the future!

First time I've seen the skin. Thanks for posting the picture. It affirms for me that buying the treasure maps to get it would be a waste of gold.

A LOT more than they had even done previously.
