I'm just happy that it's only 2 leads (which are non-repeatable!) instead of the 14 (that are) that we normally get.

I know I got a Galen map right after the DLC dropped that I sold for a ridiculous amount, and now they're very quickly dropping in price. I have a feeling these will end up in the 'reasonable' range soon.

But yes, as for the other ones that drop Ancestral motif leads, please ZOS reduce at least one source of RNG. Curating the leads would be best, but I'd be fine with a low chance of the leads dropping from regular chests and not just maps as well. It took almost three years to complete the codex for Ancestral Reach, and now I have three more codices to unlock, assuming the RNG (to get a map or buy it) on top of RNG (to drop a lead) on top of RNG (to be one I need a codex entry for) is in my favor.

It's a bad idea and I don't like it. Used 2 maps and got nothing. On console each map 200-250k atm. So I just lost 500k gold for 0 leads.

I bought a map for 400 a few days after Galen released on console, I have frantically searched every other trader since then and haven't seen the same mistake again. I have yet to get one from a drop in the world though.

Oh, and that map....didn't drop the lead.

An excellent way to make these specific maps more abundant would be that they can be in the loot tables for dig sites as "additional treasure" in the specific zones, so for example you could get a Galen treasure map when digging something up in Galen. If these designs for how to acquire leads become more commonplace, it is imperative we aren't subjected to possibly endless grinding* to acquire the items, because that's not only bad design, it's wildly anti-consumer, too.

Before someone points it out I'm editing this post, yes, you can still be subjected to endless grinding because of RNG, but at least with additional, more reliable sourcing for the specific lottery tickets, we'll be in better odds.

How do you know she increases though? It’s all RNG and with no tooltip to state that I don’t think there’s a way to know.

I’ve gotten 5 satchels (best rng so far), and 0 many times in a row.

EDIT: tried with Mirri, gotten 2 runs with 0 satchels, 1 with 2. So I don’t see any difference in comparison with standard RNG.

HEY I GOT ONE! But it was a dud. Got it from a grey satchel that drops with the loot from the harrowstorms in the reach. That was 1 i got from probably 100 so far I have picked up. But hey, I got one so it does happen. As far as the Miri question. She gives you a chance to either double some items or ups your % chance for something. Look it up. Good luck and persistence beats resistance until you realize that really sucks in this case.

Yeah. Mirri increases chances by 30% to get hidden pouches from treasure chests. hidden pouches drop from treasure chests or dug up chests from treasure maps only, they do not drop from harrowstorms. All this is taken from tooltip information in help section of the game or by reading the keepsake, if you have mirri maxed out.

Thanks for good luck lol. I will keep trying until I run out of gold, and then pray for ZOS to listen to reason lol.

i guess i'm one of the few lucky one to have found the skin lead found at the 5th map used (all map found in thieves trove and random mob drops) - i've left the vukhesh egg waiting to expire before using the maps.....now i just have to find the outfit page and i'm done with galen maps.......codex completion, as usual since deadlands dlc, is another bad story (as bad as maps i guess?), due to strongly reduced drop rates after the first completion of mythics (or other special collectibles with several codex entries)

It's now a number of weeks in and still no Galen map drop past the first one (no lead) I got....

I have thoroughly given up hope and do not expect to see this lead any time soon.

Took me 10 maps to get both leads. Actually ended up getting 3 leads from those 10 as 1 was one of the leads that also drops in normal chests.

Officially done with all leads in game at the moment. Waiting on the 2 bugged ones to be fixed on Tuesday (hopefully).

So, 6 weeks and nothing. Haven't seen more than a single treasure map since day two of the Firesong release.

@ZOS_Kevin can something please be done about this? I styled my toon as a nature spirit and can't get the skin because of this maddening RNG ZOS has dumped on us. This is ridiculous.

Please help.

Very nice! I'm currently missing 4 of the Ancestral Daedric leads and the lead from DSA. We ran DSA twice yesterday putting me over 30 runs, and while I did not get that lead, all 3 people in my group did, so I guess my RNG is just trash.

Don't farm for the treasure maps. Farm for gold to buy the treasure maps, which will continue to get cheaper over time. Will be faster that way.

I got one from a Harrowstorm during the event and yesterday, I found one in a random treasure chest in Eastmarch. Good job I didn’t expect a lead!

Sorry I have to chime into the chorus who think to hide this lead in treasure maps for Galen is a very bad idea.

As already mentioned by people here it is a random number hidden (drop probability of the lead) behind a random number (drop chance of a Galen treasure map). It is already terrible for normal treasure maps. But for Galen this is extremely worse.

With each added zone the drop chance of a treasure map of a specific zone shrinks.

This probability drop is eaven much worse as, as far as I know, there are ONLY TWO treasure maps for Galen instead of the usual five or six. This means that the chance of drop for a Galen treasure map is less than half or even just one third of the drop chance of an ordinary treasure map of a specific zone.

This is why the prices of Galen treasure maps is so ridiculously high (around 200k at the moment). Unless ZOS does not significally tweak the drop chances of these treasure maps beyond that of other zone maps this is not going to change.

Anyhow I will not farm the leads for this item unless I stumble by chance on a Galen treasure map with the appropriate lead. So I will probably not enjoy this cloak anyhow but then that's it. From what I have seen it is not even worthwhile to spend x times 200k for Galen treasure maps.

I do the Galen zone dailies every day and I have also completed the quest content and zone map. I have NEVER gotten a Galen T-map as a reward. However, in a trial last week that a friend and I farmed we each got Galen Treasure Maps from chests. Strange and way too disconnected from the zone to make sense.

I think it is fine that maps drop in other zones too. The issue is with the really low number of Galen T maps and with the drop chances shrinking with each added zone.

It is not about chest found in the landscape but about chests found via treasure maps.
