Is Blocking glitched or deliberately nerfed??

    Is it ok to leave a bug this bad unfixed for so long?

    I am paying for something i cant do right now, all raids are cancelled. That feels kinda wierd.
    This is a bug we're working on fixing - it wasn't an intentional change.

    Will servers be coming down tonight for the fix?

    No, we don't even have a fix implemented internally yet. It's still being worked on.

    Sorry to bother, but is there any update on this bug? It's pretty detrimental to tanks as is.

    Will there be a fix for this in Monday's incremental or do we need to wait for the one on the 28th (or later) for it?

    There ended up being a few different components to this that needed to be fixed. The good news is these have now all been fixed internally, though there wasn't enough time to get them into Monday's patch. We recognize this news is frustrating but please trust we will get this fix out as soon as we can.

    It's unreal to read today's patch notes and not see a fix for the block bug.

    I honestly don't know how they think this is acceptable to leave the game this broken for a month.

    The block bug one is the only one that I knew they're not going to fixed it by this maintenance, so I'm totally expect block bug won't be fixed today.

    But /encounterlog still not getting fixed is somehow really unexpected to me since Rich said they're going to fixed ctd today and /encounterlog will also ctd.. so.. yeah.

    I work for a software company. if there was a critical issue like this. We would work weekends to make sure our paying customers can consume what they pay for. Also other companies like Square Enix for FF14 would take the servers down until it was fixed.

    Maybe it's finally time I check ff14 out. I've held on to eso for far longer than I probably should have. It's a shell of what it was, and is no longer a "product worth subscribing to", [snip] It's just disheartening to dread patches instead of being excited for them.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno I'd like to note a small disappointment - I know this is being worked on, and I am doing my best to be patient, but it is getting more difficult. This is from the patch notes just released: Under Monsters and NPC's

    General
    Monster Uppercut abilities will now knock back and stun your character more reliably.


    And yes, that part of the patch went through great. I am flat on my back, regardless of block status, or dodging.... if they have started the gold lines, it does not matter if I am blocking, dodging, or the target dies.... I will end up on my back.
    I have a very good system, excellent internet, and very low to no lag or latency. But, I can be in the middle of a roll dodge, and it still hits, even if I "should" be out of melee range..... and on a couple of occasions, it hit, despite the creature dying before the animation was complete ... he died, fell down, and then I went flying.....

    It makes it difficult to know that the monsters are more reliable at using a skill that there is no counter for.....
    If there is a timeline for the next patch for the block bug, it might do a great deal to let us know....

    Again, the work you guys do to try and keep things working is very much appreciated

    I saw in your post on known issues coming to console today that the team is aware of "block being interrupted by dodge rolling or bashing."

    Unfortunately, this does not represent the full extent of the blocking problems right now. One of the biggest ones is block canceling not working as intended for channeled abilities - for example, if we are channeling and want to block, we need to hit block once to cancel and another time to apply block, but we can't do that in too quick succession or the block won't actually apply. This is causing significant issues for dps and was not mentioned as part of the blocking bugs. It means that templars in particular are liabilities in content because you've given us full-time channeled class spammables in jabs/sweeps and radiant oppression. If you want us to use our class skills throughout the fight, we are going to encounter this bug very frequently, and it is extremely disruptive.

    In your post above in this thread, you acknowledged that there were a "few different components" to the blocking issues. Can you please confirm that block-canceling channeled abilities is something that the devs will have fixed in addition to the block issues with roll dodge and bashing?

    This block bug is extremely bad making playing nigh unplayable.

    It's not just the fact that dodging now drops the block ans you need to actively re-block (to let go of the left trigger), but sometimes character(s) end up completelly stuck that they're unable to block entirely. They can bash, dodge, but not block.

    Other is the block keeps dropping sometimes when spamming skills from block...

    How on earth could this had been let through quality assurance I do not know, but Microsoft should tighter grasp on the development.

    Given how specific they were here, I am expecting that block will continue to fail when using channeled abilities, or when block-casting some skills. Trying to use ground targeted skills, like templar shards and lightweight trap, has been getting me killed a lot when fighting dragons.

    Theres also a significant bug whereby wardens casting frost damage slowly become unable to move or cast anything (in pvp). Frame rates get clunky until you just stop. It is unplayable. 🙁

    The block bug is annoying, one moment I'm blocking and then it drops randomly, makes a no death run nearly impossible, but was able to run vMoS trifecta for friends with the block bug and was still able to farm vDoM for that mask page with a drop rate that's just not balanced to the difficulty of the dungeon.

    Sure doing Hm increases the drop rate, but HM on the newer DLC dungeons vs older DLC dungeons and non DLC dungeons is exponentially more difficult. To expect us to run over and over for a possible mask page drop. You've added a lot more mechanics, increased difficulty, and nerfed our over all skills over the years yet the drop rate remain the same for if we did FG I HM vs CoS HM vs GD HM, there is a noticeable difficult climb, and again the drop rate remains the same as if equal. You can run maybe 10+ FG I HM in the same time as maybe 1-2 GD HM that's with a set team, to pug is even worse as half the time you get people doing vet content having never done the normal dungeon or with false roles.

    But this is a different complaint, but it ties to the inability to block as it makes the low drop rate farming that much worse.



    But, I don't know how difficult it is to change things such as drop rate for more difficult dungeons, as if changing something initially presumed to be unrelated to block caused a change reaction damage to being able to block.

    I can only image changing drop rate will say make the ability to mount impossible.

    Probably a ton of old code you have to go through with people who wrote that code no longer working for ZOS and it's basically the manually says don't cut the grey wire, and you're like they are all different shades of red, oh yah the guy who wrote the manual couldn't see color.

    I complain, but I also understand possible work issues that could arise.

    It's interesting to note that they never do anything as simple as reverse the changes that cause the bugs, and then wait to release the new patches once the bugs are successfully worked out internally. No, the ZOS method seems to be to stack changes on top of changes and hope that they can eventually work them out. Unfortunately, that's why we have persistent, years-long bugs that go unfixed.

    Now that the event is on and players are farming vKA, this bug is even more up front and annoying bc tanks are falling over left and right in there.

    Is anyone able to tell us when we can expect that fix? Block is a fundamental combat element that absolutely needs to work. It's apparently been solved for at least two weeks before a fix will be released. Stadia is dead. Can't blame Stadia anymore for patch delays. Why is this taking so long to implement?

    Also, can we get some information on how the bug got through to live to begin with? This is an easily (read 100%) reproducible bug that shows up in normal play.

    My raid group is falling apart. I've been here mostly since beta, but I'm getting so frustrated I don't want to play anymore.

    Don't worry the tanks feel worse because you can't tell if you blocked or not.

    Yep. I feel like an idjit dying to raid bosses that I've tanked before with no problem especially if we can't recover quickly so it's a wipe.

    Block bug is also very bad in PvP. Using roll dodge while blocking is a very important defense. Even if i drop block and start blocking after dodge roll again, it often doesnt work. Dont know how often I die because althought i know i get burstet and press right mouse button, my character is not blocking.

    Stadia has an execution date, but it’s not actually dead yet. Their contracts are likely valid through its end of life in January. ZOS has also not commented on whether they plan to go back to weekly incrementals instead of biweekly once Stadia is gone. Just because Stadia forced them into a new cadence due to certification does not mean the cadence will automatically revert. I hope they do go back to weekly ones, especially for things like this, but ZOS has given us dead silence so far on that front. Add that to the list of things they need to improve on in terms of communication.
