pets in towns

Until this feature is expanded to include group content then it's pretty much useless to me. I don't mind seeing other people's critters around towns. What annoys me is no way to turn these things off and get them out of my face while in combat. It's so fun doing dungeons with random people and having a fat maw of the infernal spawn directly on top of my character while I'm tanking a boss...

I want to NOT see the twilight matriarch anywhere...ever. I WANT to see the cosmetic pets everywhere as this is a large part of my enjoyment of the game.

Same, I always despawn them after battles. I don't know how sorcs can go around with them summoned, the twilight especially. This was one of the things I was most looking forward to from the update :frowning:

    what happened with this?

hide followers or whatever it was i switched to on (settings > gameplay) and still is a Zoo.

Oh! You can switch that on? Wow! That's amazing! My game crashes every time I try to set it on, even without addons. I even thought that it was just a joke.

Had a Warden bear, clanfear, and flapping matriarch on the blacksmith station in Vivec. But I saw them all disappear at the writ turn in boxes.

I'm on console so I don't have the patch yet, but wasn't it only in specific places like the writ hand in points?

Since I see right now a pet standing on a crafting table, I think we can assume the implementation is not as it should be :D

Which crafting table are you at?

I saw this at a couple of points in Vivec City, e.g., by the Blacksmithing station. While the player was "out of range," their pet, behind them, was pretty much on top of the station. Also, it seems that the feature isn't working at Provisioning stations, at least not all of them. I watched several players visit the Provisioning station in Vivec City and their non-combat pets were visible, but then they disappeared when they moved over toward the Enchanting station. My wife noticed the same thing in the crafting area in Leyawiin.

Not to mention the (already oft-repeated) fact that this doesn't really address what most people seem to have requested. As was noted by many of us on the PTS thread, just suppressing pets next to crafting stations isn't the point. It's getting rid of the clutter in towns, not just by crafting stations. That's one point of traffic jams, but so are banks, quest givers, quest turn-in points... Just get them out of the towns. Again, you managed to suppress the "companions" (Bastien, Mirri, Ember, and Isobel) in towns as a whole. Why not expand that same feature to other pets?

I've heard in-game that this isn't working at all and that matches my experience.

I went to the crafting area in Alinor with it turned on and I could still see all the pets, followers etc. At one point the little platform by the cooking fire had 3 sorcerer pets, the dunmer banker, one of the raven assistants and 2 non-combat pets, all clustered together.

I have replaced my pets with Resolving Vigor on both of my Sorcs.... I agree, I do NOT see how people can stand them.....
Seriously, when we have Molag Bal doing an invasion, how is it that the authorities are ok with his minions being casually summoned and paraded around.... I'd expect some serious "Witch Hunts" against Sorcs.

What I want to know is this... why after all of these years I can't turn my clanfear into a chicken, the twilight into a bat, and the bear into a wolf....

If I have to endure this forever then at the very very least provide us with some variety.

I'm very sorry, I see your reply only yet: on that day, it was on the clothing station table in Vulkhel Guard. I can for now not check again, because I have disabled "hiding followers" feature, as well as the NodeDetection addon. The combo of the two was crashing my game.

I think the new feature has introduced some interesting bugs... I was in Davon's Watch bank this morning and someone came in riding his lion mount!

The hide pet feature, for the limited time I was able to keep it enabled didn't work in any real sense. Like others I was both looking forward to this much desired feature and expected 'towns' to pretty much mean everything on the map designated as a town.

I had to disable it to stop the constant crashing.

Nontheless very disappointed with its intended versus described/advertised functionality.

I can confirm the same. I had it on and I was having crashes all the time in towns. About two days ago I disabled it and it never crashed again in towns. Also, that wasn't even work, with it on or off the towns remain infested with pets.

HEY, I KNOW...... Lets make TAMRIEL look exactly like it does down in town in real life. Dull, boring, predictable... no followers, no pets, no flapping things BECAUSE after all, Tamriel is just like Downtown newyork or London or Paris, Eh?

ITS A FANTASY GAME. Get round the obstacles. Whats the real issue here.

HEY, I KNOW. How about we let people make their own choices about what they want to see in the game. If you like the all the pets and such, good for you! ENJOY! Lots of people find them a visual nuisance and for some they cause performance issues with their systems. This is an OPTION. SHEESH!

It only LIMITS pets, not eliminates them. And at the Banks it doesn't seem to do even that. I guess it's for the tables, not the whole town. Even with it enabled, I see lots of pets at the banks.

It doesn't do anything that I've seen. I actually had to leave an area I was enjoying myself at tonight because I couldn't get away from the "flap swish" and wings of a Twilight Matriarch in my face. Asking the player nicely to please put it away was met with silence.

These pets are way too big in the first place and should only be present when in combat, not in the middle of town.

People spend money on their pets and want to show them off. Towns are a place people run into each other crafting, banking, etc. so it makes sense that would be the most important place to display your pet. I’ve never had trouble using a table or banker bc of a pet. I can see hiding them near crafting tables as a compromise but wiping them out entirely in towns would be heavy handed imo.

I should have been more clear. I was referring specifically to the Sorcerer's Twilight Matriarch.

I edited my post to clarify.
