@ZOS_Kevin Could we get an update on this? Specifically what is ZoS plans for this feature?

Most of us are confused with the original wording and currently, we still have pets crowding stations and Wayshrines.

Most of us were really happy to see that we were going to have the option for pets to be hidden in towns...and the wording of the update actually said this...but currently, nothing about it works.

It would be great to know where all of this is heading

    Thanks

I've heard in-game that this isn't working at all and that matches my experience.

I went to the crafting area in Alinor with it turned on and I could still see all the pets, followers etc. At one point the little platform by the cooking fire had 3 sorcerer pets, the dunmer banker, one of the raven assistants and 2 non-combat pets, all clustered together.

It has worked enough for me to tell that something about it is functioning, although nowhere near in the way advertised.

I saw a bear disappear as it climbed onto a crafting station in Rawl'kha. It reappeared when its owner walked away.

The range was incredibly small, but it did clearly disappear and reappear based on proximity. There do seem to be many issues with stations not respecting this setting, and Gina's comment implies that it may be working correctly at some stations but not at others. The disappointing part is that "working correctly" may be only a few feet, not "towns" as promised.

I thought this also, but it is just that it is a tiny area around crafting stations and hand in points.
Really needs expanding quite a bit as it is pointless as it currently stands.

I think we may have been misled or at least really misinterpreted the intention of this feature. I was under the impression that we would be able to hide pets in towns, when it appears we can only hide pets... in towns... close to craft stations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that point was really glossed over, no?

I don't see what the big issue is....they should just give us the option to hide other players' combat pets in town..it hurts no one.

    Players: 'gives feedback'

    ZOS: 'Doesn't reply'

Players 'Why do i see pets in crafting areas? Wasn't this supposed to be fixed?'

ZOS: 'We are sorry, this feature is not working as intended, it will be fixed on the next incremental patch in 2 weeks'

Players: 'if only someone gave feedback'

Maybe it should expand to 'anywhere on the map because the pet is just another ability they're using and not really pertinent if they're not in your group or dueling you'?

I agree with this. There’s 0 reason to see non-group member pets and even then it’d be nice to have the option to hide the twilights. They can get really annoying.

The current implementation is not really useful at all. I saw 3 pets not 2 feet away from a craft station with this new feature toggled on. If they practically need to be hugging it in order to be hidden, that's really not what I was expecting.

You are absolutely right. Now if there is some major technical hurdle that makes this impossible, ZOS could just let us know. Instead they promise a feature that I was VERY much looking forward to as a huge personal quality of life change and I'm left with nothing but a feeling of disappointment, defeat and distrust.

Which crafting table are you at?

I was just doing my crafting writs in Auridon/Vulkhel Guard - and there were pets everywhere around the crafting stations on the plaza and in the Crystal Vial - there was absolutely no difference from before.

    crystalvialmremo.png

In the "Crystal Vial" there are three crafting stations (alchemy, enchanting, jewelry), a provisioning station and an outfit station. So in my opinion pets shouldn't be allowed in there.

PC/EU - Limit Followers in Towns switched ON.

Well, and if you say "limit Followers in Towns" - I think you really should include the whole town within its city limits, including the wayshrines.

I was in the Elden Root crafting area and saw a sorc with a twilight. The sorc ran over to the woodworking crafting area and poof, the twilight disappeared. So I figured it was probably working as advertised. And I saw no pets on the boxes when turning in writs at Elden Root either.

The roadmap also explicitly says "pets" and "towns" with no qualification or further explanation:

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/roadmap

They can clearly disable followers from showing up in a town (using that in the typical English language sense of the word, not the "crafting station" sense), so there shouldn't be a reason they can't disable other pets. (Bastian/Mirri/Isobel/Ember are mechanically pets and are controlled with pet commands.)

It should have been eminently foreseeable that promising us the ability to limit "pets" in "towns" and then only giving us the ability to limit them within a couple of feet of crafting stations would constitute yet another miscommunication with the playerbase. It's especially a shame that this could have so easily been avoided by setting accurate expectations with clear language. Knowing they have both combat pets and non-combat pets, for example, they should be clear in the roadmap and streams whether it's both or only combat pets.

I thought pets would have the same treatment as companions (hidden in the whole city area)... Instead we have: "(...) hide other players' pets (...) around certain high-traffic objects in the game. Specifically (...) daily crafting writ bestowal boards, daily crafting writ turn-in crates, and basic crafting stations.(...)"

    What a disappointment.

Those winged sorcerer things are the perfect trigger for epilepsy ; I'm not subject to it but I still can't look at them, they're literally a pain in the eye. it's a matter of color, brilliance or movement frequency, I don't know, may be all together.
So I hopped they would disappear from towns completely.

Should have been an easy thing to implement since it's already coded for companions (it's been working as intended with them for two years) and they just needed to copy that across to the other categories.

Which hopefully means it's also an easy fix.

    Right?

Although the only one that really annoys me is that damn flying rat that's pretty much essential for any mag sorc build.
