Should TREASURE be player TRADABLE/sellable??

During this High Isle event, I have been lucky enough to uncover purple treasure(s) (to sell to a merchant). These treasures are worth about 1500 gold if you sell to a NPC merchant.

However, and a while back, I killed a nobleman with the Blade of Woe and found a 5000 gold treasure on him known as the moth cocoon from the temple of the moth priest. I showed the zone chat and someone offered to buy it from me! However, it was account-bound.

I ask ye, how many would want treasures to be sellable to both NPCs and to others players?

Like IRL how human beings hold materialistic things with zero extrinsic value and with solely intrinsic value, I think ZOS should make treasures sellable to all players.

I would GLADLY give up inventory space to flex my copy of Erotic Stories (green treasure item) featuring the respectable and just Queen Ayrenn and other prominent figures of the Aldmeri Dominion. Even my copy of a Pocketbook Guide to Kick The Kahjiit is a keepsake worth trading (imo). To me, these items are worth more than 40, 150, 1500, or even 5000 gold. They are collectors' items worth cherishing forever.

I ask this poll not for the sake of these priceless artifacts, but for the ability to share the joy these artifacts bring to the ESO world through free market capitalism.

Should treasure be sellable?

I’ll leave you with the wise words a Kahjiit named Ember once told me when I found a heavy sack in the woods by a caravan camp massacred by Assassin Beetles, “TREASURE?!?”

typo in the first poll-option. Should be players instead of characters** even though players play multiple characters, characters do not play multiple players.

Should TREASURE be player TRADABLE/sellable?? 73 votes

Yes, please make treasure an item tradable to other characters. I would gladly give up precious inventory space to carry these items along with my mythics just to flex my transmute crystals, luck, favor of the RNG Gods, and commitment to ESO treasure collecting. This also builds nicely with the antiquities skill line that can add a player + player element to it.

No, I don't enjoy treasure as much as the OP. I think the account-binding to any found treasure is a good thing for the game. It's such a good thing, I will probably also explain why it is a good thing in the comments instead of outright saying no to the OP's request.

I am a fond collector of these. I have about well over 50 unique ones. Most of them have incredible lore attached to them, so I value them more by their item description than the actual 1500 that they're worth. That being said, I've always been incredibly disappointed that such lore-heavy items are nothing more than glorified undaunted plunders. It's certainly unfortunate, but ZoS seems to have no plans to make them more than what they are, even though many of them might make for wonderful furnishing ideas.

Not multiple players. But do our characters play us sometimes? Feels like it.

Part of what makes the items special is the rarity. If they become tradable the rarity will likely drop.

I was going to say I can't vote either, until I noticed there's a neutral option. The yes and no options carry a lot of assumptions which are unlikely to apply to everyone who would otherwise pick them.

It's not something I'd ever do myself, but I can't see any harm in making them tradable so players can buy/sell/trade/swap etc. them if they want.

I think because the drop rate is controlled, the rarity will still be high. It's like with furnishing plans (Ayleid ones). They drop, rarely, but they are still valued among collectors. The same can be said for any ESO item. Even say a trash drop from a now extinct monster, it signifies the monster's previous existence and is valued among collectors.

There are worthless items for sale on the market currently that people know aren't worth anything based off of the color of the item. An example would be the infamous "spoiled" food that makes your character puke upon eating it, or even clockwork pieces that are labeled as junk. The description says it can be sold to a merchant, the same with the treasured non-tradable treasures too! So I think the value will be added as long as there are people willing to see value in them

If “treasure” had any use or purpose, I’d agree with the OP.

From my perspective I really don’t understand why “treasure” was added to the game. I would much prefer to receive the equivalent value in gold without yet another item sapping at my inventory. Better still, give me useful items - there are thousands of useful items, like furniture or crafting mats or arms/armour, without resorting to useless garbage…er…I mean “treasure”.

I ignore the part of the answers designed to bias the poll.

Treasure should not be available to trade since it is heavily used by players who know how to level up the TG skill line in the fastest and most effective way possible.

Further, it’s clearly intended to be vendor material and it’s useless outside of that.

And finally, it already has a price set for it. Since these items have no use outside of selling them there is no reason to expect the price to be better when trading to another player.

I'm usually against unnecessary restrictions on trading in general (arena, dungeon and trial sets should be tradeable imo), so I say go for it, make them tradeable. Where's the harm? There's Thieves Guild quests that require you to find certain categories of them, so there might even be a market for them.

I can't stand the way that you framed this poll. It could have been a very simple question without the editorialising.

Now I have that out of the way, if treasures were collectable, had their own stickerbook and achievement, then yes absolutely they should be tradeable. The upside to this is that Guilds can arrange swap meets for players to exchange rate things between players for collections. The down side would be unscrupulous players charging ridiculous amounts of gold for rarer treasure.

I'll even take this one step further. Not only should treasures be sellable/tradable to other players, but we should also be able to use them as furnishings in our house. I've always wanted to hang the Awkward Argonian Painting in my house to see what it was, or hang the portable chamber pot on a coatrack just for S/G's. I personally would much rather have a "stickerbook" for treasure items.

No achievements or anything associated with it, but just a cool little tab that shows all the treasure you have found/collected, maybe put into categories (common/rare/etc). You can choose to "stamp" the treasure into the stickerbook, or you can sell it. I dont know, its completely pointless, but it would be neat to be able to show treasure you have collected, esp the funny items, without them taking up stupid inventory slots.
