How They Could Change One Thing to Stop 99% of All Guild Bank Robberies

    I don't get asked all that often, so this is not a chore for me personally.

    But exactly this is the issue. Many players are too shy or just don't want to bother a officer for a cheap item.

    I experienced a robbery myself in my social guild and we had to make it "officers only" too. But the outcome is, that the bank is 500/500 full the most times now and we have to sell cheap items to make space again.

    Most players are honest and when they draw something out, they put something in the bank too. It's a action of 20 seconds and most players aren't going to bother officers for such a procedure.

    Looking forward for a technical solution too.

    I've been in the max number of guilds for years now, and I have literally never taken anything out of any guild bank, because for the life of me I can' t figure out the point of them or what they are for, and I'm so afraid of accidentally breaking the rules that it's just not worth it.

    I mean, I get that in theory, it's a donation. But it appears that some guilds-- and some people-- view it as a round-about donation to the guild itself, where you donate your item and then a fellow guild member pays for it, and thus the guild profits. Which all seems kind of silly and overly complicated, when you could just donate gold to the guild. Meanwhile, other guilds see it as a donation to your fellow guildies. You put in the item, people take what they need, end of story. But it's not always clear which is which. So after all these years, if I want to donate to the guild, I deposit gold. If I want to help out a fellow guild member, I offer the item in guild chat. I don't *** with the bank.

    Is this just me being crabby? Maybe. But given that people are always complaining about the musty old contents of the guild bank that never change... I suspect a lot of people find it equally useless and mystifying. I mean, are people really depositing million gold items in the bank? Or are they just selling them outright in the guild store? And if they do deposit them in the guild bank, do people actually bother with looking for them there?

    Tl; dr: OP's suggestion seems reasonable enough to me, but there might be a better way to approach it. But I'm not convinced there's much value to guild banks as they are.

    This system mostly works to keep the bank secure, but since most people can't withdraw, they don't tend to deposit either. Only the officers deposit. The loot in the bank is limited, as a result, to the kind of loot dropped in the activities the guild's (fewer than 10) officers happen to like to do. The items available lack variability, and there are bunches of unclaimed duplicate items I'd LOVE to see withdrawn and used to help my fellow guildies ASAP.

    See, this is basically what I am saying: you can have the most secure vault in the world, but who cares if nothing in it is actually doing anyone any good or providing any value to the guild or its members?

    @amapola76 i don’t think you’re being crabby lol

    I’m actually glad so many people seem interested in discussing this topic. I hope our dearest ZoS takes notice that so many people have ideas and opinions on this, and maybe makes some useful changes sometime soon.

    It's fine add more guild bank settings. Guilds need an update

    That's not a simple change. That requires storing an extra piece of information for every member in every guild.

    Here's a simpler solution that I've seen many guilds successfully use since the dawn of time: "If you want something from the guild bank, contact an officer"

    After all, a withdrawal limit of 1 won't help if the newcomer withdraws that one style page worth several million gold, now would it?

    This is what we have done since the beginning.
