Time zones in announcements

Can we please put in the UTC times in announcements where the server is coming up or going down?
Why are we expected to google different time zones? UTC is a time everyone should be familiar with and it seems very unfair to your PC-EU audience that you use American time zones in issues the PC-EU server is also affected with..

    The banners do have both.

But yes, I don't think it's too much to ask for ZOS to provide UTC times in ad-hoc announcements as well.

Unless I'm mistaken it does say "September 7, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)" in the header of the forums which includes the UTC time.

I think they mean in the update about the current maintenance where it states EDT only to announce they will be offline into EU primetime.

That was for different maintenance. The post about this emergency maintenance only mentioned a 4:00 PM EDT estimated up time, not 20:00 UTC as well.

That said -- add four hours during daylight savings time, add 5 hours during standard time. Easy peasy.

Not the banners. The banners are fine. If i am on the forums. But i get lots of infos from the dev tracker in discord. So i see "4pm EDT" and i have no idea what EDT is. So i have to google it. This would be so much easier if the announcements were the same format as the banners.

Update: At this time, we are estimating maintenance being completed by 4pm EDT. We'll let you know if it looks like this may change as things continue to progress.

Which of course is locked and cannot be commented in and does not, in fact, contain UTC time.

Why should it be for 1000's of player to have to do the math instead of the one person posting the update?

Looking into different forums, the EST. Time servers might be up again is 10PM/22:00 Central European Time.
I agree, in the announcements should be included more times.
      Total ESO playtime: 8325 hours
      ESO plus status: Cancelled

Never said it should be. But just hoping that, unless and until they include UTC in all their communications regarding time of day, this will help avoid the need to go do web searches for time conversion.

If you select "4pm EDT", then right click and search it should tell you what time is in your current timezone. I also think that most Europeans don't know from the top of their head how their current time is related to UTC.

It was a minor oversight at best.

Besides, it's not that hard to look at the post that says 4pm EDT, then scroll up to the banner and use those times to work it out for yourself. The banner says "6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)" so 4pm EDT is 8pm UTC.

Including UTC when mentioning times in all posts is just one small gesture that would provide a little bit of goodwill, especially to those missing out on prime time and may miss out on playing today.

A lot of people on EU are going to be familiar converting from UTC, having to then remember the conversion from EDT on top of that...

I have the feeling that having the time posted in a timezone you're very familiar with is taken for granted by many players here.

Yes, i could do that. But if you add that to everyone who has to do that you will have countless hours of wasted time.

All this would be a non issue if they'd just include the UTC time in communications. (I am not talking about the banner here im talking about the dev responses.)

The European player base is spread out over several time zones. I have to look up UTC just as I have to look up EDT.
