25% damage decrease and 5% survivability decrease. -10% crit damage, -5% damage, -200 weapon and spell damage, -2 ult generation per 1.5 seconds, -5% resistance. It equates to about a 25% damage decrease. AND with the other nerfs compounded on top of that, you might see as much as a 45% damage decrease if you have a build that uses the ring. I had a stam sorc that didn't even use Crystal Weapons. It dealt 80k dps before, but after the patch, it deals 45k. After the buff to Bound Armaments, it deals ~50k dps. This takes into account the change to the trial dummy. 38% damage decrease. For reference, changing nothing about the build except swapping the ring for Sea Serpent's Coil and adding a second bar increases my DPS from 50k to 95k. On live, it's 80k to 108k. The damage decrease for my non-optimal 2-bar build is 13%. 38%-13% is 25%. So the calculation is pretty solid.

transmute cost is 25 per alt. or 50 for 2 alts.
that's the cyro reward amount for lvl1. 25k ap needed i believe..
12.5k with midyear running. takes less than an hour..
alternatively 2.5 random dailies per alt..
The nerfs to the ring are even worse than they appear.. some classes have access to these minor buffs already, so in that case.. they didn't just lose 5% mitigation or 5% damage, they lost 10%...
I just want to point out, that these changes are due to it overperforming in PvP, every call for a change I saw was to keep them as major buffs but to replace them with pve specific buffs.
So take off protection for aegis, beserk for slayer etc.
Heroism needed to go for sure though. But it wasn't an easy buff to get in pve anyway, so replacing it with minor in that case would've been ok, along with the changes I mentioned above.

Same. After they went through the same cycle with Thrassian, a nerf to Oakensoul was inevitable. But I think we're all surprised it happened so soon (and was so severe). Kind of feels like a bait-and-switch to sell an expansion.

It's still a thing. This thread is 6 months old and a massive overreaction to the nerfs that happened around that time (which basically nerfed Oakensoul from a necessity for practically every build to merely one of the best pieces of gear in PvP and a more-than-viable single-bar option for noncompetitive PvE).
