I think at the very least, we deserve someone to come into threads like these and explain themselves.
I feel helplessly controlled by a shadowy figure.
I spend months at a time feeling under powered and weak, only to be told in some patch notes that my class is getting nerfed because we have too much offensive nature.
Talk with us! Why are these changes being made? What direction is warden heading?
The silence is so toxic.

This is what we mean when it comes to more communication. They don't care.

We have been talking about Artic Blast for months here in the forum's, bunch of discussion and suggestions, complete silence from everyone, not even a comment saying they were considering doing anything.
Then comes the pts patch notes, low and behold they changed it and it's underwhelming.
Some time ago Rich Lambert said in a stream he/the dev team barely even comes to the forum, I sincerely believe it to be true, apart from mods, I don't believe anyone from the dev team bothers coming here read anything, suggestions/discussion wise.

First the Good Changes, I refuse to go on a rant without giving Zos a little credit where they did good:
-Wings got their Snare Immunity, which is fantastic, we've been asking for that, simple fix and it's there.
-A small Budding Seeds Buff which is nice.
-Crystalized Slab had it's CD Removed, actually kind of huge against multi-hit ranged attacks that get blocked.
-Frozen Armor got an Unneeded Buff, but more tanky is good I guess
-Eternal Guardians Execute is now 150% which is a beefy hit, Hemorrhage from Feral is still better but at least the option is there.
-Screaming Cliff Racer is a false positive, they got rid of the stupid range thing, added an weapon/spell damage buff to it, but it's still Birds and is partially tied to Off-Balance so I still hate it.
Now, that's the good + the Screaming Cliff Racer False Positive situation, now the bad.
-Arctic Blast, looks ok until you actually look at it, the Burst Heal scales off Max Stats, GREAT, but you want it running for as lonf as possible to capitalize on the Damage and BLOCKABLE STUN. There's 2 AoE Blockable Stuns in Arctic Blast 1 at the 2nd tick and the last tick, so essentially 4s and 10s. Zos is obsessed with people having counterplay to Arctic Blast's Stun, before it was 3 damage ticks, then it was 5 damage ticks, now it's 2nd tick (which still means it's 4 seconds till you can stun someone btw) and you can block it. Just let me stun someone for the love of GOD. Also it's Duration isn't even on Par with the rest of the AoE DoT Standards that THEY JUST SET.
-Advanced Species, The biggest factor to a Warden's damage across the board was Advanced species, for the uninitiated it used to add 2% damage per animal companion skill slotted, now it adds 990. Pen is a good stat to have, but it's less important that damage considering there are much easier ways for players to get Pen. So Wardens just lost 6-12% Damage across the board from that one change.
-Winter's Revenge was the redeeming quality of Frost Wardens, we may have not had a lot of good frost abilities, but our one good one, it was GOOD. But with the DoT Duration increase I guess it was mega powerful because they hit it with 33% sledge. People say it was dunking on other Class AoEs, maybe But Warden definitely wasn't. I would have much preferred them reduce the Piercing Cold Passive, which is the highest Class Elemental Damage Buff in the Game, then see where Winter's Revenge Sits. But either way, Winter's Revenge just feels sad now.
-Birds still have their special thing tied to a ranged aspect of Proccing Off-Balance. It's a Stupid Hoop. Birds are still slow. I hate them and I hate that Zos tried to make Screaming Cliff Racers interesting without addressing the Hoop Issue that everyone has been asking about.
why do they keep standardising everything, making needed outliers and then doing it all over again a year or 2 later? Argh
I don't think it's wrong to have Damage Standards, but have everything follow the standard. Arctic Blast is a DoT, it should follow the DoT Standard. I also think that 20s is too long, it leans into stagnant rotations and gameplay

Disagree, different classes should excel at different things. That’s why we have classes in the first place. Winter’s Revenge was the best AoE DoT in the game, and that’s fine. Sorcs have the best escape/stun tool in the game.
DK’s it was single target DoT’s.
The idea that all classes should have AoE dots that deal the same damage or the same on other stuff is absurd. Where are the differences outside of palette swaps?
Boring if you ask me.

I actually think for Arctic Blast and Lightning Form it’s ok. But everything else no.

eh, if they standardised all of the dots back and gave all of blast's ticks back, i'd just want it to be high dmg ticks so even though it may be more difficult to sustain, it'll at least be desirable in content over other AoE DoTs. because as is, it's worse damage per tick than mystic orb now on pts.

That’s because it scales with Max Health. Remember, the healing over time has ‘been converted’ but the heal over time is based on Max Health. Test it and you will see that Blast deals more damage with health investment.

I think this is where there will be a big disconnect, this is a better pvp patch for Warden at the expense of PvE.
The Arctic blast change gives Warden a sorely needed Burst Heal. The Stun is technically better then last patch.
The Bird of Prey getting Snare Immunity is fantastic.
Frozen Armor giving you more armor is nice.
But man. The Advanced Species change just kills it for me and for a lot of people, it's just an unnecessary change.

Now add in the new Nocturnal's Ploy set and yes, as long as you do not go against some specific Oaken builds, PvP feels rather nice.
However, the reason I feel we are at a nice spot in PvP might be one for concern for others: Magica shalks? Remove a minor and major buff. Corrupting pollen? Say goodbye to another minor and major buff. Now add in Kynmarchers and a Oakensoul for your buffs - and start having fun. Not to mention that when using an ice staff, applying brittle ain't that hard either. So you likely are a debuff-machine with - after nerfs to all classes - semi-decent damage-output that should easily destroy people that do rely on their buffs & debuffs to survice and / or deal damage.

True but I'm not counting on this set staying as it is ATM so I don't even theory craft around it. I generally think Magicka Warden has all the tools to be effective in PvP with many build options.

It's definitely able to heal itself now. But now that pve is just crippled i don't even want to play the game anymore.

You are on the same boat with many other players regardless to class. I think week 3 will bring back much of the lost dps.
Actually I was very impressed with the new Scorch mechanic and I think Zos should implement such of a mechanic to many of the dot skills.
What do I mean by that? - scorch right now apply damage after 4 sec and 6 sec after. So a player can either wait for the full 10 sec duration and get the damage applied twice(more user friendly for newer players) or use this skill every 4 sec which requires better control and sustain capabilities(and will result in a 20% more dps).
How this principle could be implemented to dots? If you reapply a dot you do ~30-50% of the damage you have left on the dot as a burst. Second option is to make the damage of a dot much stronger on the first ticks while diminishing on the last ticks.

It really is mind boggling. Magden is objectively one of the worst classes in pvp currently and this change hobbles us even more. Those of us who have stuck with our magdens have mostly succeeded because we know the class inside and out. Now we don't even have that.
