So I've been noticing since the High Isle patch on Playstation (PS4/PSNA) when I travel around to various zones, I will hear a weird mechanical/whirling noise in the game. It sounds vaguely like the whirling blades in Halls of Fabrication hallway boss. The sound will be off in the distance, but as I get closer it will get louder to the point it drowns out nearly all other noises. I can wander away and it will quiet down, but going back to the same place makes it grow louder again. It seems to appear after I port somewhere (wayshrine or house) and it's never exactly in the same place; I can go to the same point again and its gone the next time I log into the zone.
So far, I've experienced it in the following places:
High Isle/Amenos (wandering around for antiquities)
Shipwreck Shoals (delve)
North Elseweyr (near the Public Dungeon)
Dreadsail Reef (Final boss chamber)
Sleek Creek House (wasn't even bought, just looking at it)
Belkarth (near the Wayshrine/Festival area)
The Login Screen after a crash while the noise was running.
It seems to be focused on my sorcerer (who is my main/crafter and thus been played a lot more of late) but I swear I heard it on my healer also. It doesn't seem related to gear (different builds), skills, companions, pets, mounts, or anything else customizable that makes noise. Nobody else seems to hear it either, not at least anyone in my trial group did.
Is this a known glitch? Am I going crazy? It's annoying but harmless, but I'd rather not have to deal with it. I'll put in a ticket if I need to, but I want to know has this happened to anyone else first.
