I already deleted and reinstalled the entire game and it didn't change any of the problem.

  • misslilamaeub17_ESO
I renamed the program data and restarted. It does not download any update and my version is still wrong. Also, I clicked on the gear and there is no option to uncheck automatic update.

    Launcher version is 1.3.5.953486
    Game version says 1.0.0956792

    same for me, too.

Okay, I found the auto update option, it's right above the news info, there is a small gear and it says "game options" next to it. If you click on settings you can change the auto update, it also has a repair which I am running right now. Hope this works.

I think I found that at the same time you did.
    Unfortunately, nope. Nothing changed. >:(

    Hello there,

If you're attempting to log into The Elder Scrolls Online beta client and receiving the error "Login Error: Login Timeout", you should first check the version of the client. The client version should be 1.0.0.953227.

The client version is located in the bottom-left corner of the login screen.

If your client is not in the Version 1.0.0.953227 should perform the following steps:
    • Close both the game and the launcher
    • Open the game installation directory
    • Open the folder named "Launcher"
    • Inside the "Launcher" folder, there is a folder named "ProgramData"
    • Rename the "ProgramData" folder to "ProgramDataBackup"
    • Open the launcher and download update
    • Click "Play"

We wish you the best of adventures in Tamriel!

There is no Launcher folder on the Mac install!

Repair didn't help, even deleted program folder and restarted computer. Even with auto update checked for never it doesn't ask me to update. And under game options choosing check for updates does not update anything. I'm pretty much dead in the water as nothing is updating or working.

EDIT:I'm starting to get mad now, I paid for early access and I can't even get into the game. ESO needs to resolve these issues soon.

Seems it doesn't even care what your password is, you can type in uihiuefhwefh and it will give the same error as soon as you click.

I have the same issue. If you go to account.elderscrollsonline.com what does your account status say? Mine still says:

    ACCOUNT STATUS
    Beta Access

Even though I have redeemed my early access key. It also now says my key is invalid. Really wish Zenimax would let me play.
  • eric_linnemannb16_ESO
Have been playing on the beta with no problems. now after I login in game I get an infinite loading screen. any help?

    ACCOUNT STATUS
    Beta Access
    Early Access

I already made sure of that, my problem is clearly not in my control it is an issue that needs some kind of fix on their side, but so far I don't even know if they are aware of it. They seems to respond to random threads with "Are you sure you are using the correct username and password?" Freaking worthless.

I got the "Invalid Password" error and found it was caused by not properly registering the Early Access Code. This is the 20 character code. After I registered I had to wait until Bethesda updated my account. They sent an email congratulating me. Then I tried to use the Beta client and it was still dead, so I reinstalled the client from the ESO update page.

My problem is i can't even get into my account to check if something went wrong.
And still no answer, here or from customer support.

We'd like to put your computers into selective startup mode. This will turn off the startup programs, and most of the services that the computer doesn't need to run. Let's give the following a try:
    1. Click Start, and type msconfig on the search box
    2. Right click on the msconfig.exe program and choose Run as administrator
    3. To place your computer into selective start up:
→ On the General Tab at the top, click on the Selective startup radio button
      → Uncheck "Load startup items"
    4. Click on the Services tab at the top
→ On the Services tab check the Hide all Microsoft services check box at the bottom
    5. Click the Disable all button at the bottom
    6. Click Apply, then click OK
    7. Restart your computer

When your computer comes up you will be in Selective start up. Try the game again, and see if you have different results. Once you have tried the game, if everything works fine, then one of the service or startup programs was causing the issues you were seeing.

Could you please reply and let us know if this solved your issue?

Once you have finished this troubleshooting, you should turn selective startup back off. This is done by opening the msconfig window again, and selecting the Normal startup radio button. Click Apply, then click OK, and restart your computer again.

We appreciate your help and patience during this process.

@ZOS_LenaicR those are windows instructions, many of us are on a mac. This is a server side issue since it happens on 3 different PCs I have the client on.

Tried the new instructions, my game still won't update to the correct version. It is stuck on 1.0.0.956792 so my game has a newer version than what on the server is?!

    PROBLEM SOLVED
I was skeptical because I already have it set to use very few services on startup. But I followed those last directions exactly and the game launched. It did not update the client version number even and it still worked. Thank you!

I'm having similar issues over here, managed to log in twice today.
Was able to play for an hour at first, then the game crashed at a loading screen (unknown error). 5 hours later I finally got back in, but the game crashed again at the first loading screen (unknown error).
Stuck in the "requesting character load".

    -Win7 64
-Network connection is ok & the firewall is not blocking any traffic
    -Run the repair several times
-Renaming the data folder didn't have any effect
-No startup programs are interfering with the game
    -v: eso.live.1.0.0.956792

However i am using 4G since I don't yet have a line connection to my apartment, but I still get a 15/1 speed with 40ms ping (prioritized icmp, dunno about udp/tcp) from the Netherlands (to Finland) so that shouldn't be the issue either...
The majority seems to be getting along fine so it doesn't seem to be a server issue either...

Thanks for time on this Login issue.

We would like to invite you to declare the Client and the Launcher as authorized for your antivirus; As well for your Firewall. You also need to set your Launcher "Run as Administrator".

Feel free to let us know if you're still having issue.

    We appreciate your patience.

Did the msconfig instructions, reduced startup items load. Even changed my account password. Opened the ports on my router. Ran eso.exe as admin....Same issue. By the way this issue persists whether it's PC or Mac. IT"S ON YOUR END!!!!!!!!!! HOW FRIGGIN HARD IS IT TO SEND AN AUTH CODE EMAIL PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sorry but your game is broken,a poorly planned launch. Learn from Blizzard next time. It's called stress testing and not releasing a product until it is ready. . Are you all ex Microsoft people?

Disabling the antivirus & giving the launcher admin rights had no effect.
According to wireshark the PC is constantly spamming a US server while "requesting character load". (EU server chosen)

    ^This pretty much loops.

No traffic is coming from the EU?

Well, they did do stress tests - I was in on three of them.

Didn't see these problems then, though there are likely more folks online attempting to play than then.

Did have long waits during the middle beta though.

The Europe megaserver is located in the US currently. They are moving it to a european datacenter sometime after launch. Hence that.

I've been experiencing the login timeout issue since two beta sessions ago, I also have early access now and was hoping it would work but it still has not. I was told by fellow members of the forum(during beta) that my internet must be the problem but I can play all sort of games like GW2 and WoW without any problem, so why not ESO? It is evident it is even effecting people who have wide open ports and have done everything they could to connect. There needs to be a real fix for this pronto in my opinion.
