How can I tell what content each character has done now?

And all the bosses in the public dungeon are marked as done.

But hey, apparently its obsessive to want to complete all the zone on alts. To play the quests in delves or public dungeons.

To play the actual game. 🙃

The group events in public dungeons are not completed. Neither are the public dungeons themselves or their quests, only after completing the quest the public dugeons look completed on the map.

The same applies to quests in delves. They are not completed at all until the alt does them.

What is incredibly annoying is that your alts have to wait for the delve boss to spawn now. Previously the bosses spawned as soon as a character who had never killed it before would approach the boss.

Agree on the boss spawn wait for delves.
But although delve quests aren't automatically completed, delve completion on the map or zone guide is tied to the boss kill, which is account wide.
I don't know of any way to figure out if a delve has a quest and whether or not you've completed it other than to go there and look.

The Dungeon Tracker addon will show you whether each character has completed the skillpoint group challenge in public dungeons, or the skillpoint quest in group dungeons. You can set it to show the completion status of all your characters in the tooltips or just your current character. It is on esoui.com.

Don’t know if this helps but I have noticed on the achievements they will say what character completed them I personally like the AWA as I play more then 1 character so it makes the holiday achievements easier to get for me

That is only showing you which character initially unlocked the account wide achievement, not which characters have done it. Subsequent character completions don't get added to the list, unfortunately.

Just to show how the Zone Guide is of no help, here is the zone guide for Alkir on my Lv 35 alt who has NEVER been to Alkir.
All quest's are marked done, Delv bosses marked done. Rare Fish all done.
Yea, zone guide does not get around that AwA ruined replayablity.

That images has you at 0/10 on the main quest 0/19 on the side quests. Under map completion those icons are from top left main quest, wayshrine, delve, side quest, point of interest, crafting station, mundus stone, public dungeon, world event, world boss, skyshard, mage guild lore books.

The only pre-completed items are the delve, world event, and bosses.

Actually, Points of Interest show on guide as not done but when click on actual list, all ticked off.

And all the bosses in the public dungeon are marked as done.

The actual list shows what your account has accomplished. The zone guide is showing what is being counted as still needing to complete for your actual character. If you hit continue zone guide it should take you to all of those places eventually. The zone guide doesn't allow for custom completion so it will take you through the story before the point of interest, but once you've gotten to that section it will take you to those places.

Look, I appreciate people here trying to tell me that the Zone Guide is just as good at tracking my different characters’ progress as Achievements were, but it’s just not true.

I have been playing since 2015, taking my 18 characters through everything, usually in the sensible makes-sense zone story order. My main does everything first though, and has completed nearly every single thing in the game.

Before U33 it was easy for me to work out which character needed to do what / where. I just checked their achievements. I am just grateful that I paid attention when this was announced, and realised that Zos were not going to take any notice of the huge thread on the subject, that I went old school & noted all my alts progress on spreadsheets & ESO app.

That has been the only way for me to reliably track any alts progress. If I hadn’t, I would have no idea and it would have had such a significant impact on my gameplay.

The Zone Guide may help with odd bits now, such as main quest, but it in no way makes up for the loss of progress tracking via the old way, by achievements.

    Agree 100%! ^^^^^
Zone Guides and Story Guides just don't cut it.
If I took the above alt I used as a example, and just rode around the zone, not even going in a delv or POI, it will click to white on my map and look as completed. If I do go in a delv, all the bosses will be white and marked as done. If I take my toon to Orsinium, it will be rebuilt and marked as done. My Lawful/Good toon will be greeted as a Dark Brother. My new Necro/Vamp can't do Veserius quest line properly. Etc. DO NOT tell us AwA is not a problem and that "Zone Guide" will fix all. It doesn't. Period.
My main has been my main since March 2014. It does everything.
My alts I play like characters from a novel. They are not here to "play a game", they are here to follow a story, to be immersed in a fantasy world. Some alts will never do main quest, some will never join Thieves guild. Some will do nothing BUT steal.
I just wish we could get ZoS to admit that this, AwA, was a mistake.

I agree that the zone guide is a poor substitute for being able to just track the achievement easily. But it is also important to note that is not literally of no use. The zone guide DID show you as having not completed the quests and you could use it to complete them. Perhaps not in the order you wish, so there is significantly less freedom than before, but nevertheless it is a tool that is there for usage. People who don't have add-ons or spreadsheets need to know that information as it's certainly better than nothing.

It also doesn't help the fact that ZoS ignored 100 pages and 3000 responses in PTS Bug Threads about these issues.
And still no response. Even IF they fix all the problems that AwA has caused, their apathy over the whole issue and disregard to concerns will never go away.

Thank you. This thread is still relevant in 2023:

Like many others, I made a new Arcanist and am collecting skillpoints. The Zone Guide does not help: it shows Public Dungeons as incomplete if you haven't done the quest. But I only want to know whether I've done the group event for the point. And like some pointed out, some of the maps make it hard to find that event.

I'm glad there's an addon for us on PC at least... but it's yet another to add to the couple dozen I already have, fixing various UI and UX issues.

There's also a blue "head" icon on some achievements, with blue text. I don't know what it means and can't find anything about it in game help. Does it signify completion for this character? If so, why is this so abstruse?

@MoonPile - somewhere I saw a mention of the blue character icon referring to character achieves as opposed to account wide achieves. Not sure where, sorry!

Yes, the blue is character specific completion, and the public dungeon group events are the majority of achievements that fall in this category. I can't answer for it's obscurity.

They ***ed it up with AWA. Permanently crippled replay value of their own game to save some kilobytes of server data storage per account. It definitely changed how I play the game now. I run through delve some other character has already done to pick the skyshard. Publuc dungeons it's the skysherd and public event skill point and done. I do only redo questlines to unlock things. New story content I do once and then its done and only new boring grinds are left for alts.

I've been working on completing all the Firesong content with a particular alt. Yesterday I found a new volcanic vent that immediately popped up as a white icon as if completed as soon as I got too close. Then I felt obligated to sit there until the event spawned at that location in order to make it accurate for that character. I knew if I left, I would probably never remember that she had yet to actually complete that particular vent.

With 18 characters currently, I have so many spreadsheets and other docs to keep up with character progress. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how bad AWA would be ahead of time, so there's a lot of character progress info that was just lost. Even this long after its initial implementation, I still hate it. This is my number one worst change ZOS ever made to the game in any update.

100% agree. I have characters that I've had since 2015 and now they're in this weird combined pool of achievements with characters I made weeks ago. It just feels kind of wrong. Makes it feel strange to replay content on a new character when it's already all officially "completed".

I came here to say the exact same thing. I worked my butt off on an achievement and without realizing it the last quest I needed was done on an alt. I was so angry I deleted that alt and the other 16 as well. This is just a placeholder now.

I will never forgive ZOS for AWA. It has ruined the game for many of us, I am sure. It will never be the same for me, even with the use of addons. We should have had the option to chose one way or the other. But oh no we can't be having that. Me thinks that this will be another post that will be assigned to the waste bin.
