How can I tell what content each character has done now?

Is there an easy way to see this now?

Since achievements are account-wide now, I am kinda strugging to figure out where in the story my Necro is compared to my Nightblade, for example.

You could use Ulrich's skill point finder for quests that are zone based main stories. That could give you some clue. But that would only work on PC due to addons. You could go to zones and see if the quest markers are there or not. PITA to do, but an option (tedious for sure).

When going to AWA they should have kept some kind of summary on each character, like you know, a character summary just so you don't get confused since they basically did a total wipe of specific character things overall. And that's the problem with AWA. Something like AWA, if done RIght, and not in a way that just seems like it's more about storage for them than a boon for us, should while giving achievements to all characters still allow for each character to see its development as an individual.

I used to tell the age of my characters, when I made them by when they did the lowest dungeons. That was my way to know how long I had them because coming in and out of the game over many years, I don't remember when exactly I made them and sometimes I like to go back and see info on toons I haven't used much in a while. Now, it's all just the main character unless it was something the main didn't do.

Implementation on AWA was really done poorly and not very well thought out. But I suspect that was just more about storage than anything else.

No idea. I have similar problems. Also, my achievements are lying to me now. Wanted to check if I had finished collecting some motifs, and the achievements said yes. Nice. But I had a hunch that this wasn't correct, so I checked the long list, and indeed, one of them was NOT completed. So what the fudge do I have an achievement for if it isn't even correct? Just remove the motif-based achievements completely, I say, as they are useless now.

I think AWA is one of the worst changes they've ever made. Sure, with a new character it's easy to know whether or not you've done something, you do it as you go - but for older characters, you're pretty much screwed in knowing whether or not you've done something with that character because there's no record. I'm sure the people who aren't bothered about doing everything again with all their characters, or are too *L word*, are happy about the change, but for those who do like to earn everything again it removes motivation to start a new character. Pity they only catered to one side and left no way for others to keep track.

This seems to be happening when one character has one piece of a motif while another character has other pieces, resulting in a cumulative achievement. I know motif knowledge is supposed to be individual for the character, but this is my guess. Either way, its really annoying. I'd rather not have these achievements removed, but I can say without a doubt that I hate the cumulative progress thing. I enjoyed the game so much more when the achievements on each character were separate.

I also dislike how it's difficult to track at a glance what parts of a story your character has done or has not done without mods due to the messed up zone guide and everything else.

    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause

I personally think AWA is great, but just like with anything, it should be a toggleable option so players have a choice to use it or not.

I think the biggest negative like previous comments was implementation. It’s currently very buggy and screws with map completion a little too much for new characters, but just like anything it’ll be perfected and fleshed out over the next year or more

Same things happen to me during the first few days I came back, my quest list is empty and I was in capital, I don't know how should I continue.

And even though I agree with merging all into account wide achievement, this screw my pacifist character :open_mouth:

What's REALLY cool is on the area map, a delve will be marked incomplete....until you enter it, then surprise...it's now marked as complete.

For stories you can check their quest journal. Unless for some reason you completed one quest, then left the area before picking up the next one, and did that so long ago you don't remember where they got up to.

I've done this many times, and I'm sure I have alts that I have no clue where they left off. A more robust quest journal which actually shows what you finished would alleviate that.

I've made a few spreadsheets to track what's important to me with regards to completion of "challenges" in the game.

Certainly a far cry from the system we had. I would have thought self-tracking of those things were gone once we got to the modern era of gaming. Certainly never thought it'd be removed from a game after already being implemented.

Made a new character and now I don't know what group dungeons I did with this character to level the undaunted skill line and get skill points from the dungeon quests. It's 2022 and I need to sit here writing down a list with pen and paper of what dungeons I completed. Take's me back to the early days of gaming, kind of nostalgic really.

It's such a shame. I was a big advocate for AWA after seeing it handled well by other MMOs like WoW. But yeah, to summarize ESO's implementation:

Yeah, this has become increasingly annoying. Its bad enough that all the zones look like I've completed all delves, so I have to manually see what skyshards are still out there. But the worst part is trying to see what group dungeons characters have and have not completed. I'm on a PS4. Its impossible. I wish you could turn it off the same way you can select ALL, COMPLETED, and INCOMPLETE

Using addons or the left info panel when pressing M for map that counts quest, shards, etc.
I was going for Tamriel Hero on my main character, there were around 50-70 quests I still haven't finished. I recently discovered that I was given the achievement among others as well; now doing all those quests felt worthless, from a completionist perspective. It's like running a marathon you prepared months, and during the race you are thrown in a car, tied up "come bro you look tired" and get a fare to the 42km stone. You would be robbed from that sense of achievement, the hard work won't be paid off.
It should have been a separate panel for global achievements, not everything meshed together without foresight.

When I couldn't figure out what to do next on any of my alts, I started deleting them. I had paid for all the char slots to be opened and I had 18 crafters, but I played them all mostly to get more points from Skyshards. Tomorrow I delete the last of the 17 alts I had and will only have my main who has done most everything already as I am 8 years here.

Doing anything on my alts seems pointless now and worse much more difficult. I never asked for the AWA.

That is not possible because of how they implemented it - to save database access, which must ignore per character details for the most part. They do still have many per character details and some things are clearly known in the system because addons (on the PC) can show some things, but the default interface does not, a rough edge for consoles.

That would be silly in my view. Part of the reason I grind alts is to also make gold. That and trying out the different classes. You can't do the latter with a single character. Nor could you do the former, but making gold may not be as big of a drive at some point.

Having a stam sorc and mag sorc would no longer be necessary, but you have to pay for every configuration above 2 (per character) and that gets expensive in Crowns.

No seriously, though. The zone guide is exactly what I'm using to track my progress and since I'm on console I don't have addons to tell me stuff about each character's game. It's really straightforward with the zone guide.

The only thing I wish it did was, for example, if you've abandoned main quests for whatever reason, allow you to select the quest you're up to from in the zone guide, because I have had a few cases with that where I've ended up having to google the quest to find out where I'm meant to be to start/continue.

That would be a nice QoL for questers.

The zone guide works to track your progress. At the moment though, I am doing dolmens world bosses and delves right when I discover them. Due to the AwA issues with marking them as completed.

Other than that, I am lucky I always do things in the correct order. Now I can simply look at my questlog and see which regular zone has the most quests activated, or has the main quest already activated, and continue from there.

But at the moment those are the only two options to know where you have been, and what you have done.

    You can’t.

Gathered all my characters info before U33 & now using out of game spreadsheets plus excellent ESO app to monitor.

ZOS was informed that this would be a hot mess but in their infinite wisdom they ignored the near 100 page thread….

I have noticed several posts about delves and not being sure if you have done those.

I am here 8 years. I have tried every type of char and settled on Templar. I have 59 million in gold and a full craft bag of gold mats. I get a year sub and had 11k crowns left over from last year. So I'm sitting on 30k crowns and nothing I want to buy.

What I liked doing was making new chars, twinking them out in all gold at level 4 with 1830 cps and going to a new place and exploring. But my main has done it all already. Has every skyshard. I reach a place now to an empty map.

I have tried. I've made new chars and get to about level 12 before the "what's the point" overwhelms and and I delete them.

It really came home to me what's happened on the PTS. My main couldn't continue because she did the prologue, so I made a low level and had completed main story by level 25. Finished in two days playing about 5 hours each day. She had come across 5 skyshards in her travels. When I finished the main story. I deleted her and proceeded to find every place on map.

I am now on the PTS needing to find that last skyshard, but I don't know know which one it is as they are all filled in.

It will remain hidden as I no longer care about testing. I don't like companions, the card game is incomprehensible and the territory to explore is small.

I had determined that I didn't want to buy another lame chapter and hoped the PTS would prove that decision wrong.
    It isn't.

Zone guide is no help when all the skyshards, devs, etc are all marked on map as completed, or showing all uncompleted until you approach the cells border and it clicks to done with out even entering it.
Zone guide doesn't help with Orsinium being rebuilt and our alts will never get to see the rebuilding.
Zone guide will not replace the things we lost due to ZoS sticking it's head in the ground and ignoring what a horrible idea AwA was.
But it was to save data! So they add 100's of NEW achievements, almost 50 with just the card game, with new updates.
Sorry, give me back my replayability, not more achievements.
