Can't pick up my alchemy writs.

    Was wondering also, as i often keep it for the next day. And did not see it as a bug or something not allowed. I had also instances where no new crafting writ at all was offered after handing in the ones from the day before now.

    Woudl be nice to get this fixed.

    So once again to prevent an exploit used by few players, all other players are beeing punished?
    When are you going to realize that it is not the way to solve problems?

    The ability to return dailies from a day before is a "quality of life" thing that all of us are used to.
    You shouldn't change that without an explanation.

    I got no problems with writs at all!

    And i dont understand why people pick writs today to delive them tomorrow (i understand when event start not in the middle of one). What's the point?

    Writs are daily not yesterday or tomorrow writs. So i see no bug on them!

    Another unhappy crafter who had 3 alchemy writs stolen by by the latest "fix", so that was 3 less nice gold boxes I got. Three of my characters on an alt account had to pick their writs up yesterday and do back to back writs today, except the alchemy writs for today vanished. That was not a bug and it did not need fixing!

    It's largely a matter of time management and convenience, with a touch of "because we can." People with busy schedules might have limited time to play one day, so they pick up writs on however many characters and then do them the next day when they have more time. Or it might just be more convenient to do two days' worth in one big batch and have that "crafting time" every other day. And because this is how it's always been, we're used to having that option and it's annoying to have options taken away, especially since it feels like everyone's being punished because a few people got greedy.

    It's also that it still does work to do them every other day for every other profession, as a has long been the case. Nothing has changed except for Alchemy, which suddenly cannot be done this way, which seems like an unintended consequence of a bug fix as a result. Alchemy should be consistent with those in that you should be able to pick them up one day and do them the next without locking you out of the next day's writs.

    Also, nothing about this change is really stopping people from collecting writs the day before like they always have. This change just means, for some odd and inexplicable reason, they now must turn in Alchemy when they do so or forgo that profession on the cycle for the next day.

    It's not a big deal, not really, but what it does reveal is that the way things are done in the game's code are really inconsistent, often bugged, and sometimes exploitable. It also is a really weird sense of priorities in light of the many problems that are more serious and a much greater concern for the actual customers.

    It is bugged. I've lost over 100 Anniversary boxes because of this (I do the crafting writs on 18 characters)

    Day 1
    Pick up all 7 crafting writs. Turn in the Alchemy writ only and go back to the writ board.

    Day 2
    Pick up Alchemy writ for this day, then proceed to do the remaining 6 writs from day one and the Alchemy writ from day 2
    Turn in all 7 crafting writs.
    Return to writ board
    The remaining 6 writs for day 2 do not appear.

    Found a workaround. Follow same process for day 1

    Day 2
    Do the 6 remaining writs for day 1 first (do not pick up the Alchemy writ for day 2)
    Return to writ board.
    Pick up all 7 writs for day 2 and complete them.

    Unfortunately, I found this workaround on my very last character, so lost the chance of the 6 writs / anniversary boxes for day 2 on 17 characters :(

    Well I noticed a slightly different issue on the first day of the event. It's the only the day I ever hold writs for turn in the next day. I noticed that many of the crafting writs were not available for me to pick up after the first round, not just alchemy, and not always alchemy. First time it happened, I got everything except for enchanting. I figured it was a fluke and kept going. A couple characters later, it happened again, except it was different crafting professions like no alchemy, no provisioning, I don't really remember specifics at this point, but character after character was missing any where from 1 crafting writ, to all BUT 1, usually the equipment crafting writs were missing. I chalked it up to perhaps a change in the variety writs, like if the one you would get today is the same as the one you just turned in, you cant get it again, like the way most dailies work. I asked around in my guilds but nobody noticed anything similar. This is the first time I seen anyone mention something similar.

    I do al my writs at roughly the same time every day, and turn them all in. Something has happened a few times where I swear I picked up an alchemy writ, but when I go to do it I don’t have one. I go back to the board but nothing left to pick up.

    I agree with the majority of the posters here - this issue needs to be addressed or at least acknowledged or commented on whether it will be fixed or not.

    In my three years of playing I used to do writs on every other day - grabbing them on day one and completing them and the next ones on day two. Alchemy writs no longer allow this for no apparent reason, all other writs work as they used to. Whatever 'fix' that was applied in the recent patch broke this QoL convenience for many players. Please look into it.

    This has been going on for 10+ days?
    I just noticed it today.
    Same sort of thing.. I picked up all the daily writs last night ( long day ) then went to do them today then pick up todays. no second alchemy writ available.

    Now, I did notice that the alchemy writ I had picked up yesterday was already fulfilled so it just needed to be turned in. I guess there must be some daily counter not getting reset properly.

    Please fix.

    :)

    I have the sinking feeling that they are just going to 'leave it as it is' and let players 'deal with it'.

    I mean they did so when they 'broke' guild bank stacking to fix an exploit.

    They also did it when they 'broke' treasure map stacking top fix an exploit - and in that case we were cheerfully and explicitly told to 'go pick up the chest as soon as you get them map' when concerns were raised.

    In this case they will probably just do 'three quarters of the same': ignore the concerns raised and wait until we move on because they already have.

    Yeah. I think Community Management is targeted at really high profile, high impact stuff like commenting on costumes where everyone will see and applaud the engagement.

    They might fix it in the future, but as you and others have pointed out, there's been times where they will just quietly ignore it and eventually it will go away.

    In the meantime, if you're pressed for time, grab all your writs for tomorrow, but do the alchemy ones today. Its not an ideal solution, and wont work for everyone, but that's what we got.

    Same thing happened a few years ago, then was fixed a few patches later. There wasn’t anything in the patch notes for alchemy changes when it broke, and nothing when it fixed.

    Thanks for popping in, Kevin. I suspect the best way to frame this is not as a bug for the dev team to investigate, but as a (hopefully unintended) detrimental consequence of an intended change. We know they intentionally changed how alchemy writs work, and we know why they made that change, but the problem is the way the change is ruining what had been a QoL feature of the game - the ability to pick up writs one day and do them on a subsequent day before also picking up that day's writs.

    What I don't want to see is them coming back saying "working as intended" and just washing their hands of the whole thing. What I would like to see is them finding another way to address the observed exploit while maintaining the established QoL for people who aren't exploiting.

    Ok, the additional information I posted in another thread on the same subject previously is:

    * There are just no rank 7 alchemy writs;
    * At rank 7 you are given the same quests as rank 6 and get rank 6 rewards;
    * At rank 8 you are given writs from two pool sets, apparently one is proper rank 8, the other is supposed rank 7;
    * At rank 8, you are given rank 7 rewards.

    So the proper fix would likely require fixing the WHOLE mess.

    Oh, the whole nirnroot fiasco. At some point, at least top level alchemy writs started requiring nirnroot as the only component to turn in, causing a huge shortage of nirnroot and its prices going thru the roof, then it was "fixed" apparently causing at least half the above.
