50-100k farming mats depending on how lucky I get with Potent Nirncrux, Heartwood, and Mundane Runes during my Craglorn loops. (PC/NA prices)

About 45k. I do master writs on 9 characters in less than an hour, and then I quit. So it's 45k/hour with one hour of work!
To be the Chosen One really sounds like lots of fun,

I don’t know about grind, but I could make over a million in an hour just buying and selling.

Of course, you need a bit of luck too.

That would simply be the gold reward, which is the lowest bit of it. The mats, survey map mats, and master writs can be worth 3-5x that amount.

If I really focus on farming mats at a quiet time in Craglorn when most of the US players are asleep(one of the few advantages of being an Aussie) provided I am lucky with Nirn drops 200 - 300K worth of mats to sell on traders is possible sometimes a little more but 300K seems to be the most I can average at the moment and that is largely thanks to inflation it would probably be closer to 150 - 200K if the mat prices tanked to before inflation levels.

If I were doing daily writs on all 18 of my characters around 90K from the quest turn in's and anywhere from a few K worth of stuff to sell if RNG is unkind and anywhere up to 250 maybe 500K depending on how lucky I am with RNG giving me upgrade mats on that day, once again that is largely thanks to inflation if the prices tanked to before all the inflation levels started it would probably be closer to 200K in stuff to sell.

Now if I bothered to do survey writs when they build up a lot depending on mat prices I could farm millions of gold worth of mats in an hour depending on the type of survey I do.

Not everyone sells that stuff though. For those people they make their money on the writs themselves, not on whatever they get from the boxes. If that person doesn't sell their drops, why would they include that in their profit?

True, but the question was what is the highest gold you "can" grind, and he can sell them if he so chooses. Also, if he is using those mats to create things and do his writs, then he did in fact receive the value, as he didn't have to spend gold to buy the mats.

    This is me 100%.

But, I can still try and play this game!

See, after taxes, my daily pay is almost exactly the same as a big pack of crowns costs. My work days are 10 hours long. And I can sell crowns at 1000:1.

    Ergo:

    21k crowns / 10hrs = 2.1k crowns per hour

    2.1k x 1,000g = 2.1 million

So, I can make 2.1 million gold in an hour by my logic/reasoning, because I save my "grinding" for the real world and sacrifice a relatively tiny portion of the gains from that to make my game time SO much easier and more enjoyable! :)

Other significant gold farms off the top of my head:
    - 2 accounts of 18 writs takes about 45 mins and gives about 5M in rewards all up (according to lazy writ crafter stats)
    - During undaunted celebration, doing a skippable dungeon like vet direfrost in a duo takes 2 mins a run for a cheap opal page + chance at opal weapon page
    - Opening 1 key DLC shoulder boxes during undaunted celebration gives a ton of opal weapon pages worth millions each
    - Selling new rewards of the worthy / elite pvp gear on release (personally made ~100m on DCon/Hrothgar/Plaguebreak launch, ~50m on recent Rallying cry launch)

I don't know how much I make or spend anymore. I do writs on 18 characters, collect all my surveys & hireling mails, run solo dungeons every once in a while and once a month I offload a stack of 200 of each gold mat and 20 chromium plating on to the guild store and call it a day.

Usually the good folk over at TCE get whatever money I made that month and it puts me back down to where I was before.

First I would like to say that to me it's no grind. I do love to wander freely in explorable, enjoying landscape and what I see around, without any stress, harvesting all what is on my way and farming chests, troves and psijic portals. That's about 30 minutes to 1h per day (usually, I play twice 30 to 40 minutes per day). I also do the 4 daily equipment crafting writs (thx to addon lazy crafter, that's a few minutes only).

With that, via trading + selling to merchant + gold from chests + rewards from the few quests/delves I do sporadically, I secure an average income of nearly 100k per day (thus per hour since I don't play much more than an hour per day). At the top of it, every time I get 10 chromium grains, what is regular, I craft a chromium plating and sell it between 200k and 300k. So, all in all, the highest I can earn within one hour is between 300k and 400k.

Honestly, what makes it all is trading. It's incredible the amount of easily collected mats that sell for more than 500 gold each, and many far above that. I keep being surprise that so many players are ready to pay for standard mats available in big amount everywhere around us! :D

But well, I will not complain about... o:)

You have never made more than 5k an hour? Doing daily crafting writs on a single character makes you 5k in like 2 minutes. :(

Made 15k in about 30 minutes just stealing items in fargrave and selling to fence. Deleted the white items and sold the blue and green treasures. Got a few purples. That’s not even including the furnishing plans

You need subscription for craft bag, to have enough space for writs materials.
I never grinded gold, as it looks useless to me. Gathered enough materials for 3 golden (purple jewels) armor sets just by picking materials alongside roads when i travel. Got tri-stat glyphs with free tel-vars from daily logins.
Once i looted monster mask style from random vet DLC dungeon, sold it for 2 mln and bought ice staff of powerful assault, the only expensive item i needed.
I play 1-2 hours per day, during which i get 2 random dungeon reward emails (sometimes contains purple jewelry) and all purple items i get in dungeons (to deconstruct and sell materials). I think its less than 5k / hour.

Actually you can do all 7 craft dailies without the craft bag, you just need to keep the right mats and get rid of the rest. I have numerous friends/guildmates that don't sub and do just that. Apparently it is less materials than you would think from what they tell me if all you do is the dailies, and they sell the extra stuff/mats for a decent chunk of change as well. Might be worth trying? But if you don't really have a use for gold, then probably not.

There's gonna be a huge difference here between console and PC since everything's worth more on PC. I'm on xbox.

My current farm (I rigged the sticker book so a public dungeon would just drop one sort after item) I probably get 200k+ worth of stuff to sell in an hour. If I'm lucky with traits double that.

But it takes a few days to sell it off in my trader.

This is basically what I have to do. If I were to base my gold accrual rate off of actual in-game activities it would be around 25k or less, because I just don't have the time. I work 12 hours a day so my limited playtime in ESO is valuable to me. I don't have time to grind or farm because I just work too much irl, so, I do a 1000:1 gold-to-crown exchange and provide a service to people who don't have enough money irl to get the items they want from the crown store but who have plenty of time in the game to farm gold. I acquire in-game gold, my buyer gets something cool out of the store, and I purchase more crowns from ESO. Everyone wins. I've made as much as $42,000,000 in a single exchange before.

I have 3 armory setups (equipment has to be in bag) + do dungeons daily, so it leaves very little bag space, have to clear it every day. If i dedicated to writs - maybe i would have enough space, but dungeons are much more important for me.
Also, farming gold during inflation does not look wise to me. On PC-EU i saw people buying crowns for 2500:1, a year ago it was 400:1, and price keeps going up.
