New Dungeons are really fun

I love the theme. One oceanic and one is almost 80s horror style.

The pacing is good you can do it quick without buffs or longer run with buffs. I Enjoy that.

And mostly I enjoy that we can now get the secret bosses as a solo player! Meaning you can experience everything at your own pace:)

Good job man!

    Ye'h, just solo'd them both not long ago. Quite fun. I couldn't find the secrets stuff in one of them but did defeat the four hidden bosses in the other just fine.

    How hard would you say they are to solo?

    For normal they can actually be a challenge imo. Luckily we Got companions and pale order ring:)

    I entered the gorgeous tropical dungeon that was inundated with decapods, sand and sunlight, and quickly spotted the secret doors.
    There I learned of a terrible prison guarded by Altmer magical automata, who sounded like they belonged in a sci fi movie. After defeating each of them I could hear the wondrous call of a beautiful creature, and would repeat those lines of dialogue to friends on discord, about the reward I had coming and all the sweet things it kept saying. They replied “You know that thing is lying, right?”

    But I had none of it! That enormous tentacle-backed frog with a triple chin needed my help! It was spawning helper tentacles and purple balls of awesome strength to assist me along the path, after all.

    But, by the eight, I was so heart broken at the end after beating up the tall snooty elf and entering the glimmering portal. Without hesitating even for a second it began using all those “gifts” against me, and saying mean things. I know I said this once before, but this time I mean it, I’ll never trust another tentacle backed triple chin frog again

    Yeah, they were quite amusing, ran them solo on normal, hidden bosses included. Too bad the sets don't interest me so no real reason to go back. So, that's the quarterly content done in a couple of hours.

    Why is coral aerie have so many empty areas? Seems rushed in production to get it out

    It's not any more empty than Lair of Maarselok, except at least the empty looking parts are important in this dungeon :)

    They are really nice indeed, but their HM versions are SO anti-melee. :(

    ZOS, why'd you hate melee so much?

    - Sentinel Aksalaz, the optional boss in Black Drake Villa: The big circle prevents us from spamming close-combat skills;
    - Taskmaster Viccia in The Cauldron: A big part of her circle also prevents us from spamming close-combat skills (though it can be mitigated by the tank moving around);
    - Scorion Broodlord in Dread Cellar: When the boss teleports, because of the distance between the stones, it takes a good few seconds for melee players to begin their rotations;
    - Cyronin Artellian, also in Dread Cellar: The same thing, while walking around the black/red walls we can only DoT the boss
    - Eliam Merick in Red Petal Bastion: On HM, during the last 25% of the boss' HP, he remains shielded. It's bad for both kinds of DPS, but it's worse for melee because when you get very close to something on a 3rd-person camera you're automatically "converted" to first-person (not quite, just not fully 3rd-person anymore) and this is TERRIBLE for those who have photosensitivity

    And now the thief-like acrobat archer with SO MANY things to dodge, interrupt or simply avoid. Until the boss comes closer to the tank again, all we have to do is cautiously dance around the room. And on the final boss, not only there are the HUGE attack shock dragons do that moves around randomly and overlaps with the tidal telegraphs but, additionally, during the last 25% of the boss' HP, a mega-gryphon joins the battle and a tornado that spills small shock circles (apparently endless) until chicken's killed (I suppose, I couldn't finish it yet)

    They are good, also so different, Shipwright regret is short, say among the shortest dungeons if you skip the secret bosses.
    Coral aerie is much longer and has some fun mechanics.
    And good point that you can do the secret bosses not as an full group.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    I played them as a healer and it crossed my mind that the archer seems like it would be horrible for melee. I know I immediately realized that jabs was pointless. :lol:

    Generally I do like the dungeons, though... the theme of them and the secret boss thing hasn't gotten old yet. :)
    My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

    Honestly, not that hard. Just have a good solo build and play the mechanics well. There isn't much of anything specific that makes the dungeons extremely difficult in solo.

    Almost all my dungeon crawling is solo and I have, to this point, ignored DLC dungeons as too hard. This thread has kind of drawn my attention though. I can solo about half the basic original dungeons on normal. So how do these new ones compare to, say nVoM or nWR1?

    Well, normal vanilla dungeons I ran in puur dps setup (Tzogvin/Briarheart). That won't do in normal dlc dungeons. These two new ones are easier than older dlc dungeons, but not that easy. If you still have issues with some of the vanilla dungeons (not counting those with solo blocking mechanics) then it will be rough.

    What's with
    the flowery icons that appear over your head? What are you supposed to do when the balls with matching icons come at you?
    I was in a group that ran both dungeons twice, but we never figured that part out.

    Eh, I started a new thread, didn't see this one :(

    But I agree! So compelling, so much fun! They've done an absolutely fantastic job. They've been doing amazing dungeons for a while now, and they just keep getting better.

    My GF was genuinely spooked by Riven, so that was a little bonus.

    Given all the negative dialogue around the game and stuff right now, this is one aspect that I really think they just keep nailing.

    That's the new "there's something targeting you" telegraph, which seems to replace the little doughnut circle under people's feet. Unsure why they changed it just for this dungeon, maybe just for visibility when there's a lot of other AoE around. Maybe they'll change it for all content.

    I don't quite get that. Yes, there are things I think could be done better (I'm looking at you, screwing over players who already did all the dungeon quests but not necessarily all the achievements!, and I'm looking at you, overly easy overland combat!)...but overall I think the game's pretty awesome.

    I wouldn't say pointless because eventually, even if for such a short-time that leathery two-legged frog stops for a while :tongue:

    I agree, it's nice that everything in the 2 new dungeons are soloable! Went in with low expectations and found myself surprised at how enjoyable they are solo.
